The Somalis in Kenya are not foreigners. They are native to Kenya. Their native land is North Eastern Province, in Kenya. Somali is an ethnicitythat exist in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti. So a Somali in Kenya is natively Kenyan. A tribe like any other. Its one of the biggest tribes in Kenya btw

I have stayed and worked in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, kiisi and machakos..I can tell u this, nigeria is far better of kenya in aspect of sports, entertainments, development, technology, roads and bridges ,housing estates, high standard of living, education and many more , the only thing kenya is better off is their tourism sectors ,newly renovated airport and may be nice cbd in some parts and nothing else,I have never seen in my life were street Homeless kids dominates a city like that of Nairobi, go to ngara, park road, thika, Eastleigh, cbd and see how these guys leaves they leave worst than animals, I keep saying this, the only thing that can help kenya is when it takes back "some" of its economy controls from Indians, whites and Somalis, they don't threat u guys with respect in their countries and even your own country so y do u c them as one? . nice parts of Nairobi is so small to be compared with nice parts in Enugu, port, or even kaduna ,even these "nice" parts have very few black in it,Kenyan are too delusional for my liking they tend to claim what they are not, every nice places in Nairobi is dominated by politicians ,whites ,Somalis and Indians and even these places have at least four slums sorounding them..... I have just said the truth and nothing but the truth
You do know Somali is one of the poorest tribes in Kenya? Know about the North Eastern province of Kenya? You do know Kikuyus are waay wealthier than the Somalis. Almost all the rich Kenyans are either Indians or Kikuyus, fact. Saddens me you have stayed in Kenya for long but you spreading bullshit information. And all those nice estates you will find more Kikuyus, Luhyas, Luos in them than say a Somali guy. And arent Somalis black and Kenyan? You can state Asians in your argument but adding Somalis to the list and say ignoring Kikuyus shows how desperate you are mate. If you have lived in Kenya then you know Kikuyu got more share of the economy than the Indians. Even your landlord in Nairobi is 80% a Kikuyu etc. And yes there are poor Kikuyus and stuff, but generally Kikuyus are richer than all tribes in Kenya and they are black. But you are so desperate to show how Kenya is controlled by whites and Indians. If you know about Kenya, then you know that Kikuyus(black bantus) have more control of the economy than the Indians. And bruh, Somalis are waaaaaaaaaaaay poor if you compare them to Kikuyus. And the whites, what do they control exactly?

fool, nigeria got that with only $860millions while Kenya got theirs with whopping $3.9 billions ,abuja-kaduna line is 200km while Nairobi-Mombasa line is just 400km do the calculation your self ...even Ethiopian rail was far cheaper and better The $3.4 billion project was built by two Chinese companies and is the first to be electrified in Africa.
Compare that to phase 1 of Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway. Its cost stands at Sh367 billion(3.cool, almost the same as the Ethiopian line, but more than 100 km shorter.
That begs the questions: Has Ethiopia built an inferior line or is Kenya not getting value for money or is our money being stolen?
This is a question that has refused to go away. Why has Ethiopia managed to build an electrified Standard Gauge Railway for less money than Kenya, whose SGR is not even electric?
The 750 km Ethiopia-Djibouti line was unveiled on Wednesday. It will link Addis Ababa to the Red Sea port city of Djibouti.
“This train will speed up the development of our country’s manufacturing industry and it will provide huge benefits to the industrial parks and modern farms that will be built in the future. It will give employment opportunities for our citizens,” Prime Minister Desalegn said at the launch ceremony

Travelling at 120km/h, the new service will cut the journey time down from three days by road to about 12 hours.
“We’re so excited! It takes two or three days for a truck to come from Djibouti,” said Ethiopian importer Tingrit Worku. “The train could make a huge difference.”
The $3.4 billion project was built by two Chinese companies and is the first to be electrified in Sub saharan Africa out of Zimbabwe and South Africa

Compare that to phase 1 of Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway. Its cost stands at Sh327 billion, almost the same as the Ethiopian line, but more than 100 km shorter.
That begs the questions: Has Ethiopia built an inferior line or is Kenya not getting value for money or is our money being stolen?
The answers are in the details.
First and foremost, it’s good to note that electric does not always mean superfast. The Ethiopian line is only 40km/h faster than the Kenyan line.
Furthermore, Ethiopia’s electricity generation is about to explode with the construction of the 6,000mw Grand Renaissance Dam , which will give the train service stable power supply. (Kenya Power comes to mind)
One of the main reason why the Kenyan line is expensive is the massive bridges some stretching kilometres. Unlike the iron fist government in Ethiopia, Kenya has to listen to all voices which led to allowances for wild animals in Tsavo and Nairobi National Park. These bridges have contributed a big deal to the final cost.
Also in Ethiopia, the government likes your land, the government takes your land. Here in Kenya, we see any government project as an opportunity to hike the land price to make a killing.
There is also the issue of Railway stations.
Despite being 100 km shorter, Kenya is building 33 stations while Ethiopia is only building 18.
Information from Ethiopia is hard to come by, but we can assume that their main stations are not as big as what is been constructed in Nairobi or Mombasa.
There is also the locomotives. Kenya is buying more than double what Ethiopia has. Ethiopia will have 3 passenger trains and 32 freight trains to put it in plain language.Kenya on the other hand is buying 56 diesel locomotives to power 40 passenger coaches and 1620 freight wagons.
The average Chinese locomotive pulls between 8 and 20 passenger coaches, so we can calculate that Kenya’s SGR will have either 3 or 4 passenger trains (Almost same as Ethiopia).
But our freight trains will be about 50, or at least 18 more than Ethiopia.
Finally, there’s another little mentioned fact that makes Kenya’s SGR superior – double stack wagons. Unlike the Ethiopian trains, Kenyan freight train will be able to carry twice as many containers by stacking one on top of the other.

What percentage does the oil sector contribute to GDP in those nations then compare to Nigeria. Nigeria is 6th in the world in terms of farm output and 1st in Africa, this is why we still had a large economy without oil. Today even with the neglect of Agriculture, it still contributes the highest to GDP( 23 percent). And no, oil is not responsible for this in anyway. Oil may contribute more to Angolan GDP ( 60%) and even more in South Sudan but definitely not Nigeria.
No oil in anyway? Cheaper diesel and stuff, no import of oil things means money is used somewhere else etc. You should know these things

TayserMahiri's excuse of a large Nigerian market is just one excuse Kenyans use to excuse their poor entertainment industry.
Ghanaians produce movies with as much quality as the best movies in Nigeria. Tanzanians produce musicians and music videos with as much quality as the best in Nigeria, only that of course, Nigeria will always outnumber them in volumes.

Seems like you are a fan of Tanzanian music? I am also a very big fan too. Right now, after Nigeria and South Africa, Tanzanians have the best musicians and music videos in Africa. Infact i even think Tanzanians are better than the South Africans.

Did you follow the last Mtv music awards (both Africa and Europe)? Imagine that Tanzanian Alikiba won Nigerian wizkid to best African artiste. Even though wizkid was announced the winner in the original award show, the mistake was corrected later and the award revoked from Wizkid and given to Alikiba.
In the female category, Tanzanian Vanessa mdee was also among head to head in the nominations against Nigerian Yemi alde and Tiwa savage.
Tanzanian Diamond platnumz was also among the nominees for best African artiste of the year.
In the whole awards, only Sauti sol was represented for Kenya and cool they managed to win the award for the best collabo (which featured Alikiba).

I love and admire Tanzanian artistes with a passion and i have at least a dozen of their musics on my playlist.

Check out this new Tanzanian music by Taygrin and Vanessa mdee. So cool, you can never see a video/music of such quality and style from Kenya.

Before oil in Nigeria we were also doing well, not just in Africa but even amongst world economies we were advancing rapidly. So that alone proves you wrong. Population plays a major role not oil. Like l told you we also import refined crude products.
Compare all oil and non oil gdps then tell me
Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, etc
Nigeria, Angola, Sudan, Equitorial Guinea(has a gdp per capita of $20,000++ and 60% of its citizens are very poor)
Oil makes a country richer but not the people

Yes genie, that guy is very very correct. The influence and economic domination of Indians and whites in Kenya is unprecedented. It's almost as if the colonial masters never left Kenya.
If you doubt me, pls check out the 3 richest people in Kenya and see that they are all Indians. Seriously, it's so sad sad

I sometimes tune in to Maisha magic east (the Kenyan movie channel of Africa magic on DStv) to check out Kenyans. I came across one of their movie series featuring a rich, young, arrogant and loud Indian lady and she had black Kenyans as her house servants who she was always yelling at in the movie. Now, don't you think such a movie would have been produced by an Indian?
I find that to be very insulting to Black Africans. I mean, would you ever watch a movie produced in India featuring a black or even white person with Indian house servants? It annoyed and pissed me off a lot.

I tell you, the day i saw that Indians were the 3 richest Kenyans, i stopped taking Black Kenyans seriously.
Richest Kenyans? Depends with the source
Venture Africa, New World Wealth, Forbes etc
The likes of Uhuru Kenyatta, Nicholas Biwott etc are very wealthy but hide their wealth

Apart from oil the Telecommunication sector is huge in Nigeria, same with Agriculture and Banking. Lagos state has no oil, yet it is higher in GDP than Kenya alone.
There are other aspects such as the fashion industry( Germans too are now beginning to love and patronize it). Lagos is Africa's economic and business hub, All of these have little or nothing to do with oil. Note that shamefully Nigeria also imports refined crude. Oil is not everything in Nigeria. You can't compare your Agriculture and Telecommunication, or Entertainment to ours. Nigeria alongside Kenya and Southafrica dominate the ICT sector in Africa, and there are so many entrepreneurs in Nigeria. We have one of the highest number of women entrepreneurs as well, if not the highest.
Forget it, oil or no oil you can't compare Kenya to Nigeria. Angola has oil afterall.
And a very high gdp, even Sudan is up there somewhere. Compare that to non oil economies and see. Oil boosts other sectors of the economy mate. Directly or indirectlt. ANd Lagos has a high GDP because it is the economic capital of Nigeria. That is a simple explanation

You really need to learn economics dear. Oil contribute only 11-18% of Nigeria's economy. Google is your friend bro. Agriculture, telecommunications, etc contribute more.

Oil is the major source of forex to Nigeria and it's also the major source of government revenue. Economy is a completely different thing.
11 to 18% that is directly. Then there is indirectly, got to be bigger. Thats why all oil economies have higher gdp per capita than non oil economies

Kenya has man UN offices so there are averagely more foreigners(whites) than any other African country, say apart from South Africa. Also Kenya has a lot of tourists, so you will find a lot of non blacks when you walk on the streets but thats just that. Whites do not control the Kenyan economy. There is a sizeable number of Kenyan whites but they are mostly farmers or just exist like normal Kenyans. And yes they are Kenyan and feel Kenyan, so dont try to be a racist cunt. Some have been here since the 1800s so they are 100% African. Kenya is also a civilised African country and people dont have backward racist mindsets. Kenya does receive a sizeable number of immigrants mostly from Italy, so there is a growing number of Kenyan Italians, mostly at the coast, but most of them just love the country. There are some others who come from other countries like Norway, Canada etc and settle here. Its a nice country we welcome all. No one in their right mind would immigrate to Nigeria tbh
Yes Indians are in Kenya and they are not foreigners, actually they are Kenyan Asians because not everyone who looks Indian is from India, there are also Pakis . They do not have much influence of Kenyan cities, Blacks are the majority in Kenya and have the most influence. There are many malls here, and people you will see there are blacks, meaning they can afford and they are not as hopeless as 6868 tries to portray here.
Kenya is mostly black controlled,
And yes the most patriotic Kenyan song was sang by him. so dont try to be racist. Calling a person foreigner just because he is not black african is not cool

Swahili language, also called kiSwahili, or Kiswahili, Bantu language spoken either as a mother tongue or as a fluent second language on the east coast of Africa in an area extending from Lamu Island, Kenya, in the north to the southern border of Tanzania in the south. (The Bantu languages form a subgroup of the Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo language family.)

People who speak Swahili as their sole mother tongue are usually referred to as Waswahili, but this name refers to their language only and does not denote any particular ethnic or tribal unit. Swahili is widely used as a lingua franca in: (1) Tanzania, where it is the language of administration and primary education; (2) Kenya, where it is, after English, the main language for these purposes; (3) Congo (Kinshasa), where a form of Swahili is one of the four languages of administration, the main language for this purpose being French; and (4) Uganda, where the main language is again English.

Swahili has been greatly influenced by Arabic; there are an enormous number of Arabic loanwords in the language, including the word swahili, from Arabic sawāḥilī (a plural adjectival form of an Arabic word meaning “of the coast”). The language dates from the contacts of Arabian traders with the inhabitants of the east coast of Africa over many centuries. Under Arab influence, Swahili originated as a lingua franca used by several closely related Bantu-speaking tribal groups. In the early 19th century, the spread of Swahili inland received a great impetus from its being the language of the Arab ivory and slave caravans, which penetrated as far north as Uganda and as far west as Congo. Swahili was later adopted by European colonialists, especially the Germans, who used it extensively as the language of administration in Tanganyika, thus laying the foundation for its adoption as a national language of independent Tanzania. In Kenya and Uganda, other local languages also received official encouragement during the colonial period, but the tendency in these countries is now to emphasize the use of Swahili. The oldest preserved Swahili literature, which dates from the early 18th century, is written in the Arabic script, though the language is now written in the Roman alphabet.

There are about 15 main Swahili dialects, as well as several pidgin forms in use. The three most important dialects are kiUnguja (or Kiunguja), spoken on Zanzibar and in the mainland areas of Tanzania; kiMvita (or Kimvita), spoken in Mombasa and other areas of Kenya; and kiAmu (or Kiamu), spoken on the island of Lamu and adjoining parts of the coast. Standard Swahili is based on the kiUnguja dialect.

Swahili is characteristically Bantu in its grammar, and it has a large vocabulary of word roots traceable to a common Bantu stock. Swahili nouns are divided into classes on the basis of their singular and plural prefixes; prefixes are also used to bring verbs, adjectives, and demonstrative and possessive forms into agreement with the subject of a sentence. Thus, in a sentence with wa-tu, “people” (singular m-tu, “person”), all the words begin with the w-/wa- prefix; e.g., wa-tu w-etu wa-le wa-kubwa wa-mekuja: “those big people of ours have come.” Verb stems may be extended by means of varying suffixes, each one with its particular nuance of meaning; e.g., funga (“shut”), fungwa (“be shut”), fungika (“become shut”), fungia (“shut for”), fungisha (“cause to shut”), and so on.
