Mr Godfrey Chikwere, Special Assistant on Media to the Senator representing Ebonyi Central zone at the National Assembly, Sen. Obinna Ogba has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain has never been associated with violence since his sojourn into politics.

Chikwere in a statement made available to newsmen, said it was public knowledge that there is no political violence traceable to the senator since his successful growth in Ebonyi and national political sphere.

The media aide urged the public to disregard the allegation that Ogba sent his aides to recover Sienna buses he offered as gifts to party executives.

"This is a joke taken to far as Ogba has been a giver and a known philanthropist who cannot contemplate retrieving what he has offered no matter the differences in opinions.

"Ogba has never entered any secret or public agreement with any party officer to support him or her or to return any vehicle donated to his or her office.

"We assure Ebonyi people that the ebullient senator is focused and will not be distracted,".

He berated individuals occupying exalted positions in the state chapter of the party for allegedly attempting to smear the senator's image as excuse for the unwholesome treatment meted to the chairman of the electoral team sent from the party's headquarters to conduct the three-man ad-hoc delegate election to the state.

"Such leaders as young people should serve as role models to the youths in order to grow in politics.

The former Lawmaker representing Ebonyi Central zone at the National Assembly, Senator Igwe Nwagu has pledged to guarantee freedom of the press if elected the state's governor in 2023.

Nwagu who is aspiring for the seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the pledge on Sunday while declaring his interest to contest for the position.

The former Chairman of the Senate committe of Police Affairs said that he would allow journalists to operate without hindrances.

"No one would molest or harass journalists under my regime and they can freely critisise the government's policies and programmes.

"I will take positives from criticisms for improved performance in office while highlighting areas where such criticisms are not correct.

He pledged to proactively tackle insecurity in the state thereby ensuring that the people live peacefully among themselves and with those from neighbouring states.

"I will not reveal all my security strategies because leaders are fond of doing so and exposing such to the enemies.

" I will however use concrete barriers to erect permanent demarcations between communities in Ebonyi who are in conflict with others from neighbouring states.

"I will dialogue with traditional rulers, councillors, town union leaders among other stakeholders on ways of identifying undesirable elements in their areas and checkmating them.

"These categories of stakeholders should not reside in the urban areas but in the communities to effectively monitor affairs in their areas," he said.

Nwagu pledged to reform the civil service if elected and ensure it is structured towards international labour dictates.

"Salaries, pensions, gratuities among other entitlements would be placed in the first line charge while workers due for promotions would no longer be shortchanged.

"I will enhance the small and medium scale enterprises sector, the education, health, agriculture, mineral deposits among other sectors for the benefit of the people.

Mr Oliver Osi member representing Ivo state constituency under the PDP, commended Nwagu for the initiative, noting that Ebonyi people would support his cause due to his antecedents.

"You distinguished yourself in past leadership positions from the Local Government Area level to the national assembly and Ebonyi will be better under your leadership.

Mrs Catherine Okoro, a PDP Stalwart said that she would mobilise over 3,000 women to support Nwagu's aspiration because of the his disposition to the female gender.

Dr Peter Okey, an aspirant for Ezza North/ Ishielu Federal Constituency, under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) says in this exclusive interview with Eye witness reports that the Country would be in trouble, if incompetent people emerge into leadership position in 2023.


He equally speaks on his expectations ahead of the PDP primary elections, his views concerning zoning at the National and State level, saying that he believes competence, integrity and visionary leadership should be the primary yardsticks for leadership in the Country, as much as zoning is considered for the interest of the minority.

Dr Okey - "I went to see the PDP statutory delegates from Ishielu Local Government Area, to seek for their support towards my mission to represent Ezza North Ishielu Federal Constituency,
"We are preparing for the primary election which is coming shortly, so I went to make consultations with the delegates.


"Nigeria is currently at a cross road, we see that Nigeria is a giant of Africa but unfortunately our development and progress has been hampered by bad leadership, incompetent leaders that we've been electing to represent us, many of us are disappointed.

"Nigeria needs true leadership and competent representation, I think I can contribute to law making to the development of this Country through the National Assembly and Also give good representation for my people.


"I've toured round the two Local Government Areas and I've seen the challenges there, lack of development, unemployment rate all over the place, we need intelligent, competent and skilled people into leadership position to be able to provide good leadership to our people, that's the basis.


Eye witness reports - Do you believe in Zoning?

Dr Okey - "It is difficult to answer, but I'll answer that in two ways, yes and no, to be fair, I believe in true leadership, I believe in good governance, I believe in competence and capacity, I believe that it is through this ingredients that our people would get good governance, therefore, competence, integrity, Visionary leadership should be the primary thing and these are the primary yardsticks for leadership in other Countries, and I'm sure that's what many Nigerians wants, but at the same time, we have to look at the reality on ground, which is given the complexity we have in our society, zoning is something that has some advantages and disadvantages, in some respects, zoning is useful, because at the end of the day, Democracy is not just about the majority but also about protecting the minority people, which means the zoning system has some advantages because it carters for the different sections of the Country and make sure that there's inclusiveness for different geographical aspects, but I don't believe that zoning should be the main yardsticks for elections, and if we break it down to my Constituency, I would say that zoning should be a factor to consider, but I think credibility, competence, visionary leadership should be also important, but I think that can also be built in with zoning, to make sure that it is not only the majority that gets into power but also the minority, but in this case for example, we have an arrangement on ground within Ezza North Ishielu, perhaps not written, but the power rotates between the two Local Government Areas, and Ishielu Local Government has the right to demand for it's right to represent the people.


Eye witness reports - What is your plan for people to get to know you and buy into your ideas?

"Politically I'm not new in the State, I've worked for development in Ebonyi State right from it's creation in 1996, I was involved in the old Enugu State under the federated Abakaliki union, I've contested a councilorship position as a medical student in my community, and in 2019 elections, I also participated for the house of Assembly, I've been in touch with the local people and the Stakeholders, working towards building our party, supporting the PDP to provide good governance for our Country, I have a good media relationship and in the next couple of weeks, you will see what would happen.

I'm calling on the press to also work towards the good of our people, because if we don't get it right in 2023 then we are trouble as a country, and I think the media has a very powerful role, bit just advertising or selling me out to the people, but also educating them, not about money politics, we all need to educate our people to make sure that 2023 only credible leaders take over the in this Country".

The Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum has condemned the verbal attack on the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt
Hon. Francis Nwifuru by the Former Senator representing Ebonyi Central zone, Chief Julius Ucha.

Chief Ben Nwovu, President of Forum made the condemnation in Abakaliki while addressing members of the forum, nothing that the speaker was peaceful and will never victimise anyone if he becomes the state governor in 2023.

Nwovu regretted that the allegation by Ucha that the speaker would confiscate his properties in Abakaliki if he becomes governor was false and capable of heating the polity.

"The allegation was intended to make people who have already loved the speaker not to love him again moreso now that he has been roundly endorsed to succed Governor Umahi.

"Izzi people are very hospitable as it would be unheard of that our son will be associated with violence and victimising people while in power.

"People come to our area to invest and sleep with two eyes closed that their lives and investments are safe.

The group's president revealed it would stoutly stand behind the speaker as his antecedents showed that he would deliver in office.

"We therefore implore on our brothers from Ezza among other clans and parts of the state to support the speaker"s endorsement because it will be in the interest of the state.

"In the past , we jettisoned the idea of supporting our brothers to vote for people from other parts of the state in ensuring that power rotates to all areas of the state.

"It is now our turn and we implore on all concerned to vote for someone from our area to ensure that one good turn, truly deserves another.

He noted that the forum would organise a solidarity rally in support of Nwifuru's endorsement to create the awareness of the need to roundly support him.

Mr Godwin Nwogha, Chairman of the forum's Elders Council noted that it would still accept endorsement of other sons of the land by other political parties because they were all their sons.

"We would however stick with the one (Nwifuru) which we already have and we trust that he is capable of delivering,".

Mr Darlington Mbam, a member of the elders council said that Ucha's statement was capable of heating the polity and cause rancour between brothers in the state.

"We urge Ucha to immediately retract the statement because such was unwarranted and not befitting of a personality of his status,".

Ofokansi Nwachinemere, a highlife musician based in Ebonyi State, says his brand of music is to preach hard work and promote culture amongst his people and beyond.

Nwachinemere said his music involves movement to different parts of Igbo land and spreading messages to encourage hard work and promoting culture.

"l started my music career as a drummer at 12 years and has been in the music industry until now, 29-years and still counting our glory". he said.

Music they say is a food for the soul, however, Ofokansi Nwachinemere believes that his music has a message for the youths and elders.


"In life, we gain success through what is destined to us and whatever that our hand findeth; we should do with our heart and might, knowing that after sun must come the rain.

"When we started, it was not easy but today, we're not looking for money but how to sell our name and messages." Nwachinemere said.


He believes that everyone must strife to work hard and become successful, which is why he preaches hard work through his music.



"My favourite track is "Excess Dues" onye mebe ife ego because one needs to work hard to earn respect among his peers and that's what we encourage in my music.


"Wealth is not one man's inheritance but when many are successful and that's our prayer that God should raise our generation men who will make Ndi Ebonyi and entire Igbo proud" he added.

The People's Democratic Party Elite Forum in Ebonyi has expressed worry over the use of a private hotel of a governorship Aspirant, Sen Obinna Ogba as venue for its ongoing screening exercise in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki on Friday by the Forum's Chairmen, Mr Ukpa FearGod and Secretary, Mr Enekwachi Odii.

It reports that PDP had on Tuesday, April 26, commenced its screening for Senatorial, House of Representative and the state house of assembly aspirants ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Forum called the attention of the PDP National leadership to intervene to avoid anything that might mar the on-going screening exercise of Aspirants for various elective offices in the state.

They alleged that the Screening Committee sent by the National Headquarters of the party is presently conducting the exercise in a private hotel of a Governorship Aspirant, Sen. Obinna Ogba.

"The Screening Panel was diverted to Sen. Ogba's hotel in Abakaliki instead of the State PDP Secretariat.

"We have also observed that the former State Chairman of the Party, Mr Toochukwu Okorie whose election was recently invalidated by a Federal High Court is still parading himself as the State Chairman of the party.

"We, hereby appeal to the National Working Committee of our great party to as a matter of urgency strictly monitor/ supervise the activities of the Screening Committee in Ebonyi State to ensure transparency and a level playing field for all aspirants," they stated.

Mr Chidiebere Goodluck, PDP's Youth Leader, South-East, when speaking with journalists said the processes were acceptable by members of the party.

"As you can see, it has been smooth and peaceful and PDP is a haste to take over power from the ruling party, APC in the state," GoodLuck said

FG hands over 20, 000 cooking utensils to beneficiaries of national school feeding programme in Ebonyi



The Federal Government has handed over 20,000 cooking utensils to beneficiaries of National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) in Ebonyi state.

The items will be used in feeding of 64, 301 pupils across 561 participating primary schools in the state.

A total of 762 cooks have been recruited for effective implementation of the programme in line with the federal government's educational enhancement policy.

Mrs Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development said that the NHGSFP is one of the 4 key policies of the federal government under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP)

"This programme seeks to boost school enrollment, nutrition and local economic activities in thousands of communities across the nation.

"The programme at its core, is designed to address poverty in all its forms and is a collaboration between the federal government and the state government.

"The federal government under this programme, is responsible for the release of funds, guidelines policies, and monitoring, while the state carries out the day-to-day implementation.

"This implementation include: procurement of food items, selection of cooks and vendors who prepare, cook and serve the meals to the pupils," she said.

The minister said the benefits of the programme and its impact on the lives and livelihood of individuals, groups and communities is clear, evident and undeniable.

"In addressing cross cutting issues of hunger, malnutrition and poverty, we have, thus, far recorded over 9 million pupils on the programme being fed by over 100,000 cooks.

"Employment is being created within the school feeding ecosystem in sectors of transportation and manufacturing," she said.

She noted that her ministry was happy to inform Nigerians that it has commenced the deployment of interventions within the NHGSFP that will help resolve the identified gaps including a nationwide enumeration exercise.

"This exercise has the objective of verifying existing data, upgrading the quality of data, and updating records to accommodate the scaling up of the programme with an additional 5 million beneficiaries as directed by the nation's president.

"Additionally, an operational review is underway, fully supported by experts and technical partners to ensure that this programme succeeds in its objectives.

"It also intends to capitalize on gains and benefits such as women empowerment, supporting the education of the girl child, creating employment, and improving inter-governmental cooperation and collaboration.

"This intervention is thus, only one out of the several strategic plans of our ministry that seeks to ensure that the target pupils have the best experience of hygiene and safety during their consumption of those free meals," she said.

Mrs Ann Aligwe, Ebonyi Commissioner for Human Capital Development, thanked the federal government for the programme, noting that the state government will play its part in ensuring its success.

"This programme has complemented the state government's efforts in enhancing the nutritional wellbeing of pupils and students to get the best from them academically," she said.

Goodwill messages were delivered on the occasion by the benefiting schools and stakeholders in the state's and national nutritional sectors.

AnyiChuks ISSA goal...

Dr Ifeanyi-Chukwuma Odii, a Gubernatorial Aspirant under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has reaffirmed his readiness to take over the seat of the governor in Ebonyi state come 2023 election.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki by one of his Aide, Mr Okorie Okorie on Thursady.

According to the statement, Odii made the remark while addressing his supporters, after his screening on Thursday, at the ongoing PDP's Governorship screening exercise in Enugu.

Shortly after the screening exercise, the leading Guber Aspirant Dr Odii stated that he was good to go ahead of the 2023 elections.

The aspirant, popularly known as AnyiChuks is a philanthropist and the President/Co-founder, Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation.

Odii reassured that he would bring his worth of experience in business to Ebonyi state when he become the governor.

"I will deepen human capital development for the people. I will also make job creations, agriculture my priorities when I come on board as governor of the state.

"I have the capacity and what we should be focusing more is on credibility. I assured my people that the era for a new hope has come to Ebonyi come 2023.

"I have been inspired to provide succor to our people and this is the time to do it more," he stated.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has said that he wished the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries would be conducted before May 28 because he was so sure of victory.

Wike made the assertion in Abakaliki while addressing party faithful at the state party secretariat, as part of his consultation across country, on delegates for the primaries.

The presidential aspirant said he wished the party's leaders would review the date of the primaries backwards so that he would "comfortably clinch the coveted ticket'.

"What should matter for the PDP is who will win the election and return it to power in 2023.

"It does not matter where such person comes from or his physical appearance as I will defeat our opponents if given the ticket.

He remarked that he was not contesting the election to become vice president or former presidential candidate but to secure an outright victory at the poll.

"I did not purchase form for any other position in case my presidential bid fails as I possess all characteristics needed to become the president.

"I have stayed with the party through all trying periods as people should not expect to reap where they did not sow.

Wike urged delegates from the state to support his ambition because he will ensure that the nation surmounts all its challenges.

"I have identified with the PDP in Ebonyi all through its travails such litigations, ensured the retrieval of this party secretariat from the incumbent administration in the state among others.

Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu thanked the party faithful for their commitment at ensuring that the party remained strong in the state despite inherent challenges.

"This is our best opportunity to reclaim the governance of the state and Nigeria as these could be achieved with the collective efforts of all.

Chief Ali Odefa, National Vice Chairman of the party for the south east zone said the state will identify with Wike due to his relentless love and support to the party.

Wike had earlier settled a rift between supporters of those contending the party's leadership in the state which nearly marred the event.

The Executives of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Ebonyi chapter have defected to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), declaring support to Dr Ifeanyi-Chukwuma Odii for Governorship come 2023.

Odii is one of the PDP gubernatorial aspirants in Ebonyi.

It reports that no fewer than 5, 000 members of APGA also defected with the executives.

Some of the defectors are: the Deputy Chairman of APGA, the Organising Secretary, state Secretary, chairmen of the three senatorial zone in Ebonyi, 13 local government area Chairmen of the party and 171 ward chairmen.

Mr Ramson Nwigbo, Deputy Chairman of APGA and one of the defectors in his speech on Friday in Isu, Onicha local Government are of the state, described the aspirant as person with capacity to rule the people of Ebonyi.

"I and other members of APGA, decided to join PDP and support Odii is to ensure that a candidate in the heart of people takes over the seat of governorship in 2023.

"We dumped APGA to join PDP for the interest of our people. We want to support a true man, who have the idealogy for human capital development, economic growth amongst others," Nwaigbo said.

Mr Okorie- Chukwumaobi Okorie, Fromer Organising Secretary of APGA said they defected to support Odii in order to move Ebonyi forward.

"We have founded that Odii is credible and there is hope for the people. We are here today to assure him, that wherever he goes, we will go with him because this is a man that can bring smile to the face of our people.

"We, the defectors are saying that we are solidly behind him come 2023. We are standing here today, as former members of APGA. Your declaration is a welcome development," Okorie added.

In his response, the PDP Aspirant, also President of Ebele and AnyiChuks Foundation restated his readiness to use his worth of experience in business to bring economic development for the people.

"I assure you that the PDP, which you have joined today would surely give all of us shelter. For my capacity, I know how to turn resources to multiple resources. Thank you all and urge to keep the flag flying," he said

Dr Ifeanyi Odii, A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant in Ebonyi, has said that despite zoning, he has the capacity to govern Ebonyi state.

Odii, the Chief Executive Officer of Ebele and Anyi Chuks foundation, gave the urge at his hometown Isu, in Onicha Local Government Area of state while declaring his gubernatorial aspiration in the 2023 general elections.

The business mogul and philanthropist said that though he hails from the southern senatorial zone of the state where the incumbent governor hails from, his capacity to govern the state should be considered above all forms of zoning arrangement.

"I am a bonafide citizen of Ebonyi and is therefore qualified to contest for the governorship position of the state.

"All the senatorial zones of the state have taken their turns on the seat and the next shot can start from anywhere that capacity is found.

He noted that people should not propagate the zoning ideology because they want to campaign or be in government.

"I have my developmental projects and various philanthropic activities in every local government area of the state.

"My scholarship and various empowerment programmes have benefited several citizens of the state and beyond and these have impacted positively on them.

Odii said that he will place great emphasis on provision of adequate security, creating wealth and redefining the act of governance.

"All our visions and
efforts would be in vain without entrenching adequate security in the state.

"Our security approach will be proactive and technologically driven as I will put my best in defence of our people's life and property.

He pledged to restore the people's confidence in governance and establish a social contract that would form the basis of a new partnership.

"I am a firm believer in the democratic process, rule of law and reward for hardwork.

"My duties as the governor if elected will not stop my humanitarian activities because I have inaugurated structures that would sustain and enhance them.

The Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency of the state, Chief Chinedu Ogah also implored the citizens to eschew bitterness and other divisive tendencies to build a Nigeria of our dreams.

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi,
Hon Chidi Ogbuatu has said that the party will not be distracted by the seeming tumoil in the state's chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It will be recalled that a federal high court sitting in Abuja recently sacked the incumbent state chairman of the PDP, Mr Tochukwu Okorie for ineligibility to contest the chairmanship position during its State congress in 2021.

The court ordered that Okorie be replaced by Mr Silas Onu who contested the election with him.

The APC publicity secretary in Ebonyi, Ogbuatu however said in an interview that the event was just a tip of the iceberg of what lay in stock for the PDP as the general elections approach.

"The problem of the PDP started the day our ebullient and irrepressible governor, His Excellency Chief, Engr David Umahi left it for the APC.

"Since this remarkable switch which has positioned Ebonyi state and the entire south east zone on the forefront of national politics, it is has been steady downfall for the PDP and glory for the APC.

Ogbuatu popularly known as Simbad said it was perplexing that Okorie and a faction of the PDP in the state will repose its hope on the appeal court for justice after its mockery when the governor approached it over his defection matter.

"The same Okorie and a fragment of the PDP are now recoursing to the appeal court for justice after mocking that our governor will never get justice there.

"It is even more surprising that its media ranters who make noise and threats in various whatsapp platforms and social media outlets have gone dumb and inexistent since the bombshell dropped on them".

He however noted that the APC would not be distracted by the 'self-inflicted' tumoil in the PDP but is poised to record a clean sweep in the 2023 general elections.

"We are the luckiest set of people to have Umahi as our governor and leader as he is focused to ensure that Ebonyi people continue receiving the dividends of democracy even till the last day of his administration.

"We are rather concentrating on a smooth transition to our governor's successor from our party and clean sweep in all electoral positions in the state.

"Our members are more united than ever and with the diligent work of our committee on zoning, we would approach the election with an unparalleled formidable zest".

It was a dream come true in three communities, Ekwashi, Amoffia and Ukwagba, all in Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, quite an exciting moment as a Lady donates three motorized boreholes to assist in providing clean water for the people.



Eze Chinenye, also known as 'Lady King' by associates and friends, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lucky
Child General Merchandise, an Ebonyi State born international business woman who believes in helping people to raise above the poverty level.


Chinenye said she was motivated to provide the boreholes for the three communities due to lack of good drinking water in those areas, and noted it as part of community service for the people.



"I decided to provide the boreholes to improve their lives and meet their needs for good water.


"Because each time I travel to these places and I see the sufferings of my people, I usually have the hope to be able to provide a helping hand for them.


"I like associating with people and I've learnt to be one with people alot, and whenever I come close to people I study their needs and find solutions to them". Chinenye said.


This Media learnt that Chinenye has also enlisted some elders in her community to benefit from a monthly stipend for thier upkeep.


"I have elders in my community that I've written thier names to be paying them monthly, not because I have so much money but because I want to show love to my people and extend to the elders." she added.



She called on well meaning individuals and government officials to do more in assisting the people selflessly.


While reacting, one of the stakeholders in Amoffia community, Chief Paul Onwe Ogah, commended her kindness, saying he was not surprised because 'Lady King' had been a succour to the people, prior to this moment.


"She has a doggedness in changing and uplifting people".

He prayed for God to bless her as well as continue to use her in impacting the lives of the people positively.

The Secretary to Ebonyi Government, Dr Kenneth Ugbala has consulted the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over his senatorial aspiration.

Ugbala while briefing newsmen after the consultation, said he acknowledged the party's supremacy over personal ambitions and such influenced such consultation.

"The party is the springboard towards actualizing any political ambition and aspirants should be guided by such notion.

He noted that it was only the state governor who can disclose whether he had resigned his position as the SSG as such portfolio was confidentiality-inclined.

"I know the contents of the electoral law and being at this party secretariat shows that I have taken the necessary steps.

Ugbala said that he could not comment on his perceived decision if compelled to step down following reports that he earlier jettisoned his gubernatorial ambition.

"It would be an affront to make such comment as the party's leaders, the zoning committee among others would make relevant decisions on such.

"My aspiration is to give effective representation to the people of Ebonyi central zone, attracting democratic dividends to them and the entire state.

"I intend to collaborate with other new crop of leaders who would evolve in the state to consolidate on the legacies of the present administration.

Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, state Chairman of the party said that its leadership would always welcome aspirants who consult it over their aspirations.

"The APC is a large family which will accommodate all members and offer aspirants a level-playing ground to achieve their ambitions.

"We would however place the electoral interest of the party above other interests but any aspirant who declines to accept such will be allowed to contest in the field.

A non governmental organization, ( David Nweze Umahi Youth For Presidency) on Tuesday tasked the Abdulahi Adamu led All Progressives Congress party, (APC) on zoning it's Presidential ticket to the southeast and endorsed the Ebonyi State Governor Engr David Umahi as it's choice candidate.


Hon. Chika Nwangele the National coordinator of the organization made this known in Abakaliki and said the NGO stands for equity, fairness and justice.


He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for advocating zoning at the recently concluded National convention of the party which saw Abdulahi emerged as the National chairman, saying zoning the party's ticket to the southeast would connote justice for Nigerians.



"we are soliciting for Nigerians to support the zoning system for unity, fairness and justice, and they should consider a man that is fit to work." Chika Nwangele implored.


He said members of the NGO are of various ethnic groups resident in Ebonyi State and across the Country, to join efforts towards actualizing support for Igbo Presidency with the view of adopting the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi as it's choice candidate.



"All the representatives across the 36 States and the FCT are here to support the zoning system." he added.


He urged his members to continue touring the paths of equity while expressing confidence in the National leadership of the APC on zoning in favor of the southeast in general, and David Umahi in particular.


Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, the women coordinator for Hausa community said governor David Umahi has performed well enough to consider his candidacy for the Presidency in 2023.



"I was born in Ebonyi State and I have never seen a governor with passion for human beings like David Umahi.

" We are calling on Nigerians to support him to enable him reshape the country the way he did in Ebonyi State." Hadiza said.


Also Speaking, Habibatu Ganiyu from Osun State and a coordinator of Yoruba community, said Nigerians should support equity and advocate the party to zone it's Presidential ticket to the southeast and compliment the region.

The Ebonyi Diaspora Community for AnyiChuks, in Abuja has raised over N100,000, 000 in support of Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, a business Mogul as the next Governor of the state come 2023.

Odi, a Philanthropist, popularly known as "Anyichuks is contesting for governorship position under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP).

The group number over 5, 000 persons include, Chiefs, youths, women and people with disabilities commended Odii's human capital development initiatives.

They expressed hope that with him as Governor, Ebonyi people will move forward.

The Group's Ag. National Coordinator, Mr Francis Nwigwe, described Anyichuks's move as a "step into a new era for Ebonyi people."

"2023 is going to be time for a new administration to change the narrative, and restore hope to the people.

"Anyichuks is a man God is using to restore hope to the hopeless and to wipe away tears from people’s eyes.

National Development Planning stakeholders across the 36 states of the federation have converged on Abakaliki, Ebonyi to chart ways of achieving sustainable economic development process for the country.

The stakeholders under the auspices of the Joint Planning Board (JPB) and the National Council on Development Planning (NCDP) are holding the discourse which is its 21st edition, from April 6 to 8, 2022.

Mrs Olusola Idowu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and National Planning welcomed the participants and noted that the discourse will seek ways of addressing the nation's development planning challenges.

"These challenges include: weak economic decisions, policy inconsistency, monocultural dependence on oil, among others.

"Leaders and followers should collaborate in achieving sustainable national development through accountability and good governance.

She urged the stakeholders, to consider the economic realities facing the country while profering solutions to national development planning challenges.

Mrs Amaka Engene, founder of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Ebonyi, "Amaka's Foundation" has donated four motorcycles and money to ward chairmen of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ohaozara West Constituency of the state.

Engene made the donation on Wednesday in Uburu Community, Ohaozara local government area and promised to give more 12 motorcycles to the ward Secretaries, youth leaders amongest others.

She is aspiring for Ebonyi State House of Assembly under the Constituency in the area.

The Aspirants disclosed that she had contested for the particular position under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2019 but could not succeed.

According to her, my move into politics began in 2018 and my plan is to liberate women from the grassroots.

"My mission is really to liberate the women and stand as their mouth piece in the area. There are windows and I have the plans to empower them.

"I have the plans to promote girl child education and fight some obnoxious laws against the right of women and reduce gender based violences.

"Yes, I donated the motorcycles to encourage members of the party, the ward chairmen, especially during the campaign.

"They are to use the motorcycles to preach the gospel of peace and to reconnect people to the most progressive party (APGA) around the Eastern part of the country," she stated.

Engene decried the way women have lost interest in politics and urged them to be courageous.

"I urge the women out there to be courageous, they should stop seeing politics as game of men. We can do it and do it much better in politics," she advised.

In her remark, The State Chairman of the party, Mr Ricky Okorouka said APGA was ready to support women and other members in achieving their dreams come 2023.

He commended Engene on the gesture and welcomed new members, who have decamped from other political parties.

On nomination fees reduction for women and youths by APGA, the Chairman said that the cut was also in favour of the persons with disabilities.

"Yes, our party is gender sensitive. We have already given 50 per cent discount of our nomination form and expression of interest for women, youth as well as people with disabilities.

"This is the way we encourage women and we have been receiving new members and women from the 171 wards of Ebonyi," he added.

The Party's Youth Leader in Ebonyi, Mr Ene-Odii Ogbonna also commended all the members, who have decamped from another parties.

Ogbonna tasked the youth on peaceful campaigns and reiterated the party readiness to support candidates with capacity without selfishness interest.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has said that it was amusing for some people to call him a former governor due to an Abuja High Court judgment over his defection.

It would be recalled that the court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that Umahi and his Deputy should vacate office for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umahi however appealed the judgement and on April 1, the appeal court sitting in Enugu affirmed an Ebonyi High Court judgment that the governor did not err before the law by defecting.

Umahi made the assertion in Abakaliki during a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the appeal court's judgment.

According to the governor, it was amusing that people who have never been councillors would be calling him a former governor.

"The important thing however is that there is still governor inside the former governor they call me.

"They see a very tough governor who is sitting very well on his seat and still call him a former governor.

"I am aware of those who don't wish me well and if everyone wishes you well, what will you be praying for.

He remarked that the challenges he was facing gave him promotion and he bore no ill-feelings against anyone.

"I am presently a consultant in conflict resolution and any one God leads through obstacles should not look back.

"These people are still my friends, not enemies and I am looking towards completing my tenure and having a smooth transition.

"We are preaching that bitterness, anger and jealousy hinder movement but forgiveness sets captives free.

Umahi said that he will correct his past mistakes by not annointing anyone for elective positions but allow God and the people do so.

"I tried doing so in the past but it has not worked and will fully support those selected by God and the people.

Mrs Eunice Oyeyemi, the Officiating Minister at the service urged the governor to be steadfast in his confidence in God and delivery of service to the people.

"The Easter period should be that of repentance, forgiveness and renewal of faith in God.

The suit at the state high court challenging the governor's defection was from the APC gubernatorial flagbearers in the 2019 election, Sen. Sonny Ogbuoji and his running mate, Chief Justin Ogodo.

The Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi state at the National Assembly, Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah has commended the Appeal Court sitting in Enugu for upholding the judgment of the Ebonyi State High Court on Governor David Umahi's defection.

The High court had ruled that Umahi and his deputy cannot vacate their seats for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogah while congratulating Umahi on the judgment, urged him to be steadfast in delivering ingenious leadership to the people of Ebonyi state.

"Umahi still remains the best presidential candidate to lead Nigeria to the promised land and should be given our support.

“I also appreciate the judiciary for meting justice on the matter by dismissing the judgment seeking that the governor and his deputy should vacate office over their defection.

"The court had declared such judgment as unconstitutional and of no effect.

"This ruling has once again reaffirmed our belief in the judiciary and thereby putting political detractors to shame.

"This has shown that there is no place for them in Ebonyi State.

The ebullient lawmaker on behalf of his family and the good people of Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency, congratulated the governor on the victory.

The Ebonyi chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that the party would pick it governorship flag bearer from any senatorial zone of the state.

The State Chairman of the party, Mr Ricky Okorouka said this at its stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki on Saturday.

The chairman said that the essence of the meeting was to inform all chairmen from the ward about the selling of the party nomination form ahead of the election.

Okorouka noted that the party was focus to win all the elective positions in Ebonyi come 2023.

"We are not zoning any position, if the candidate comes from the North, south or central, he will go for us because what we need is capacity without selfishness.

"APGA in Ebonyi only need need a credible person irrespective of the zone. A candidate that will have the interest of the people at heart; a candidate, who is people oriented.

"Our membership drive from the ward level is yeilding good results. We have registered no fewer than 95, 000 in a space of one week.

"We are ready ahead of the 2023 general elections. We are planing a rigorous mobilisation from the ward level to enlighten members on the need to fasten strategies to win at all levels," he stated.

Mr Josiah Abba, Party's Chairman, Ohaozara local government area of the state assured that they were ready and focused to win come 2023.

"The strength of every party is from the ward and our advice to all chairmen, ranging from the ward and local government to be dedicated," he said.

Architect Aji Paul Wampana a 36 years old young man has joined the race for Adamawa North Senatorial position under the platform of the People's Democratic Party. (PDP)




Aji Paul, made this known on Tuesday in Yola while addressing his supporters following his purchase of the expression of interest and nomination form ahead of the party's primary election.




Aji said he became interested in the race for the Senate position after several calls by young people of his Senatorial District urging him to contest and expressed confidence in his antecedents for quality representation.




He noted that youths across the Country hitherto have been neglected politically, and called on youths of his constituency to take advantage of the provisions of the constitution and support him for youthful inclusion in governance.



"It is our right to contest in elections as provided by the constitution and the youths must rise up and fight for thier rights." Aji said.



He encouraged the youths to always tour the paths of honesty and integrity, trusting God and respecting elders, noting that leadership is about responsibility and said the youths must not blame anyone for thier none inclusion in governance but themselves.




"we need a youthful representation, we don't want someone who would not be able to raise motion for the interest of the youths but rather for selfish reasons." he added.




He commended the State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri for his numerous achievements in infrastructures as well as people oriented leadership and urged the youths to support him for more works.

The First Civilian Governor of Ebonyi state and the Senator representing Ebonyi North at the National Assembly, Dr
Sam Egwu has accepted the call for him to seek a third-term at the Senate.

Egwu made the acceptance at his hometown, Umuebe, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state when a group from the zone, G-15, presented to him, the senatorial nomination form which it purchased.

The lawmaker commended the group comprising mainly of stakeholders from the Izzi clan for the gesture and noted that it was not politically motivated but genuine.

"You proclaimed that you will be purchasing the form for me during your Yuletide visit in 2021 and has presently made it a reality.

"When you informed me that you have purchased the form, I prayed over it and received the divine directive to accept the form.

"This is however not easy because it is the first time somebody from the northern senatorial zone is being asked to contest for a third-term at the Senate.

He reiterated his support that the Izzi clan produces the next governor of the state as the zoning principle bring adopted on the state favours it.

"People who feel they have money and connection might want to trauncate this arrangement but power should return to the northern senatorial zone and precisely to Izzi clan.

"The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoning in it's constitution and such is applied both at the state and national levels.

Egwu reminded aspirants for the position that there would not be two governors at the same time and urged stakeholders from Izzi in particular to make the right choice.

Mr Victor Nwoke, President of the group thanked Egwu for accepting the nomination form and pledged to support him in realising the third term bid at the senate.

"Your love and affection for the Izzi people cannot be over-emphasised as you have deployed resources and priviledges to ensure that we are treated fairly and equitably.

"When you were the governor of the state, you appointed our people into enviable positions, offered them scholarships and cited critical infrastructure in the area.

"You also appointed our people into your senatorial cabinet, influenced their appointment into governmental positions among other gestures.

He thanked Egwu for towing the path of justice, fairness and equity in maintaining tht the next governor of the state should come from the Izzi clan.

Mr Lazarus Nwoba, a Member of the group noted that he was a beneficiary of Egwu's human empowerment policies as the form was its way of showing gratitude to Egwu.

The Ebonyi north senatorial zone is made of of the Izzi and Ohaukwu clans with Egwu belonging to the latter.

Dr Ifeanyi-chukwuma Odii, a Business Mogul, says he is yet to have any political party in mind until after his consultation to join the gubernatorial race in Ebonyi, come 2023 general election.

Odii, popularly known as "Anyichuks" made the assertion on Monday in his hometown, Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of the state when Ebonyi Women League (EBWOL) paid him a solidarity visit.

The women drawn from the 13 local government area of the state were with placards with inspections, "Anyichuks is our Governor come 2023, the Women Group needs you, we need a leader like you" amongst others.

The Business Mogul is the President and a Co-founder of Ebele and AnyiChuks Foundation, which is a Non-Governmental Organisation.

He commended the women group on their call on him to declare interest for the gubernatorial race and promised to reply back to them after his consultation with the leaders and stakeholders in the state.

"I have heard your calls and I believe the voice of man is the voice of God. I really appreciate and I say, thank you for believing in me. I must tell you that I will invite you to tell you about my stand on either to join the governorship race.

"First, I am going to consult with the leaders of the state, the stakeholders. I will consult with the market women, the youth, the disabilities and the abilities. After it, I will make my position known to you," he stated.

Odii said while responding to question from journalists, that his major focus for Ebonyi people would be on human capital development if emerges as Governor.

On whether he has any political party in mind, he said that he was yet to join with one until after his consultation.

"If i eventually, come on board, my main focus will be on giving back to the humanity. I represent remove stress and pains from human beings. And that's why, when I move, people moves with me.

"Of course, you know we do shelter given to people, succour upliftment, support to families, schools and so many. You can count how many houses we built and donate to the indigents. So, i stand for human capital development," Odii stated.

Earlier, Mrs Ogonnaya Ogudu, President of EBWOL, said that their visit was to beg Anyichuks to declare interest for gubernatorial race in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

They described him as "change agent" in Ebonyi and expressed confidence that he would use his wide experiences to drive more transformation for the people.

"He has projected himself as people's leader, who has the interests of the masses at heart.

"We know Ebonyi will witness tremendous socio-economic transformation which will positively impact on the welfare and well-being of the people if Anyichuks emerges the Governor of the state in 2023.

"We want him to be our Governor in order to transform our people," she added

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi will adopt a consensus candidate for the national treasurer position zoned to the state during its March 26 national convention.

Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, state Chairman of the party, made the disclosure on Friday in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen at the end of its State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.

Okoro-Emegha said that after extensive deliberations, the leadership of the party and other stakeholders decided to adopt a consensus candidate among those who purchased forms to contest for the position.

"The same will also be applied for the zonal secretary position zoned to the state.

"The decision on consensus was to eliminate rancour during the process and strengthen unity in the party during the convention and beyond.

The state chairman urged party faithful to place overall interest above personal considerations especially at its present challenging moments.

"Whatever position that is destined for any individual would surely come to pass with patience and loyalty to the party.

"This is not the time to be undecided on the party's affairs but a period of love, unity and sacrifice.

Governor David Umahi represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe commended the party's leaders among other stakeholders for staying firm during its present challenging period.

The governor re-affirmed that he and his deputy remain on the leadership saddle of the state and would do so until the end of their tenure.

"We continue to urge party faithful to remain calm and law abiding as we have absolute faith in the judiciary to effect justice.

"APC is an indivisible entity in Ebonyi and the country and will emerge stronger from the present travails.

The party's stakeholders made contributions on ways to ensure effective participation at the national convention among other issues.

Alleged forgery, fingers security agencies....



The People's Democratic Party, (PDP) lawmakers in Ebonyi State House of Assembly have condemned the All Progressives Congress Party, (APC) led Assembly by Hon. Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, and described his actions in declaring the seats of three PDP lawmakers vacant as ridicule to court ruling by Justice Ekwo.




The PDP lawmakers have alleged forgery of resignation letter by the 15 sacked lawmakers led by Nwifuru, in a move to forcefully declare thier seats vacant.




It recalls that the Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Tuesday in a sitting presided by the embattled speaker, Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, had declared  the seats of three PDP lawmakers  in the State vacant and said there was a resignation letter purportedly from each of the lawmakers to it's effect.




In a swift reaction, Hon. Oliver Osi, a PDP lawmaker representing Ivo Constituency, briefed journalists on Thursday in Abakaliki and noted  that the purported removal of his colleagues by the embattled speaker and 14 other sacked lawmakers are lacking in constitutional Powers.




He noted that a court sitting in Abuja and presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, had sacked the 15 lawmakers on defection suit filed by the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) and said they are yet to obtained a stay of execution order or an appeal on the judgment, which has consequently made thier sitting to be unconstitutional.




"It is pertinent for the general public and particularly Indi Ebonyi to note that up until today, March 16, 2022, the judgment has neither been successfully appealed, nor has any stay of execution granted in respect of same,



"However, in a deliberate attempt to undermine the judiciary, and redicule the rulling of His Lordship Justice Ekwo, Hon Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, aided by some security personnel in the state, led 14 other members on the aforementioned former members,



"excluding Hon. Obasi odefa, to invade the hallowed chambers of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, purportedly, declaring vacant seats of three members, namely, Hon . Victor Aleke, Hon. Mrs Franka Okpo, and Hon. Ali Okechuku Kizito, and adjourned sitting for three months." He said.



Hon. Osi, who alleged that he is the temporary speaker of the house, (by law) said the 15 sacked members have ceased to be lawmakers of the State House on thier defections to the APC in November 2020 and validated by Justice Inyang Ekwo's judgment of 8 March 2022.


"We want to let the public know that anyone who deals with one or several of them on behalf of Ebonyi State House Assembly does so at his or her own risk,


"The House has since instructed it's legal team to commence contempt proceedings against the aforementioned imposters, that neither the former speaker, Hon Ogbonnaya Nwifuru,



"nor indeed any of the aforementioned former members of the State House of Assembly possesses powers to declare the seats of any member vacant or to adjourned the sitting of the house." He said.



He called on the members of the public, Indigenes and residents of the State to remain peaceful and calm as the State House of Assembly resolve it's crisis in no distance.

The Young Progressives Party, (YPP) in Ebonyi State has criticized the Rulling All Progressives Congress Party, (APC) over alleged destruction of it's Billboard situated at vanco junction in the State capital.




This was contained in a press statement forwarded to newsmen by the State Chairman, Deacon Stanley Oyibe.



It alleged that some members of the Rulling Party had stormed the location at vanco junction and destroyed the billboard which cost's the party alot of money.



It noted the YPP as a duly registered National political party recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) and deserves the constitutional rights to enjoy political activities in the State.



When contacted for reaction, the State APC publicity Secretary, Hon. Ogbuatu Chidi Simbad, said

"Why suspects from APC, is APC the only Political party in Ebonyi State?

"I have nothing to say as I have other things doing, thank you." He replied.


The Statement reads;

"APC AND DESTRUCTION OF THE PROPERTIES OF YOUNG PROGRESSIVE PARTY IN EBONYI STATE, A CALL FOR URGENT CONCERN.

"This is to inform the general public on the rampage of hooligans in Ebonyi state destroying properties worth millions of Nigeria in our dear state Ebonyi.

"It came to me as a great shock, that an unprovoked group of APC storm part of the state  where we hosted our party billboard and destroyed it beyond recognition.

"This ugly development have been communicated to the Nigeria police, DSS, NSCDC and other sister agencies of the government.

"Based on this misfortune, may I used this medium to advise the dislodged ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS to stop this menace, at the vein call on the international community and well meaning Nigerians, as matter of urgent call APC to order and to stop disorganizing the state.

"The arrogance of ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS to obey court order, that was wide acclaimed to be the best judgement so far have not been acknowledged rather resort to damaging of lives and properties of our great party YPP.
