There was a massive onshore and offshore exploration in the country, and the sole concessionary right earlier given to Shell was withdrawn and extended to these other companies.

Crude Oil production from Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, started at the rate of 5,100 barrels per day, in 1958.

This quantity doubled within the following years, growing to the rate of 2 million barrels per day in 1972. By this time, more companies had joined in the exploration following the discovery of oil in Nigeria.

Nigeria was in that year ranked the 7th highest oil producing country in the world.

Production kept increasing until the country started producing up to 2.40 million barrels per day in 1979.

There is no right time; every time is the right time. Don’t procrastinate starting your project. Don’t wait until you’re ‘so inspired’. Write as it comes; as the spirit leads (definitely not the alcoholic spirit). With consistency and excellent editing skills, everything will fall into place.

Don’t Procrastinate
If you’re guilty of this, come to the left and stand with me.
Start projects on time; don’t wait for deadlines. Utilize every minute, and you’ll have more time to rest and flex. Yeah! I like flexing; I don’t know about you. A quiet walk on the cool Elegushi beach is flexing enough for me.

Leverage Relevant Apps and Platforms

I've been planning on having a haircut for a while now, and each day, I kept on postponing it because of time or because of what I don't even know.

Today I said, "This is the day that the Lord has made, I'll be glad and have my haircut."

"Rain, you're not serious," I said as I put on my cap and entered the road.

I don't have an umbrella yet - bachelor life.

Before then, my friend recommended a Saloon in the next street and I promised myself I'd go there. The guy there made my friend look like Usher Raymond. Me? I wanted to look like 50 Cent.

As I entered the street and walked about 185 steps, I saw an open saloon with no customer inside. I told myself, "Guy, this rain cannot come and be beating you. Is it not Codo you want to barb?"

Before now, my entire strength has been wet by the rain. With my last "unwet" strength, I took three steps and jumped into the saloon. �

"I greet you in the name of the Lord," I said as I shook off the raindrops from my body, the way models shake off water from their hair when they're coming out of the pool in DJ Khaled music videos.

"Good afternoon Sir, welcome to my saloon, I'm Macanthony by name," the guy said in perfect English.

I was surprised, but I replied, however.

"How can I be of assistance, Sir," he continued.

"I want to barb my hair," I replied.

"Which hairstyle will you like, Sir?" He asked again.

"I'll love to have a codified hairstyle. " I replied again.

Me that was busy enjoying the 'Sir' he was calling me.

I handed him my clipper, and he did the necessary 'first of all'.

As new technologies come up every day, several developments are made to our lives. While most technological advancements have been mainly about the internet and the digital space, several technological developments are applied in the medical system.
One of the reasons why technology developments are more pronounced in the digital space than the health industry is because the health industry is relatively slow when adopting new technologies. This slow rate in adoption is primarily because the health industry operates within strict regulations; hence stakeholders tread with caution.
Notwithstanding the limitations, some technologies are adopted for the enhancement of health care. In this piece, I will be taking you through some of the ways technology has enhanced medicine and health in Nigeria.
Before that, let me inform you that the discipline directly in charge of medical innovations is termed Biomedical Engineering and Technology. Biomedical Technology is the application of technology and engineering fundamentals to the sphere of biological systems, mainly to solve medical and health problems.
Let’s get on to the list!

1. Increased Connectivity Among Practitioners
As earlier stated, there have been several innovations in the digital space. These technological advancements have had their multiplier effects on the health industry. These digital platforms have helped to bring redefinition to how physicians in Nigeria work and communicate with one another.
Today, some medical apps help physicians update their colleagues on new information. There are also apps that help medical practitioners to obtain recent findings, initiate conversations, connect with others, and effectively increase their knowledge on several medical topics.

2. Devices Provide input on Health Decisions
Computers have now become so complex and sophisticated that medical practitioners in Nigeria have leveraged them to make critical medical decisions and provide better healthcare delivery. Its positive impacts have helped promote diagnosis, therapy, surgery (as mentioned earlier), public health, conceptual diagnostics, health records to mention but a few. This has drastically lessened the rate of morbidity and mortality in the country.

An understanding of who a biomedical technologist/engineer is cannot be whole if the concise explanation of the field, biomedical technology is not provided. Biomedical technology broadly refers to the application of engineering and technology principles in biology and medicine. It deals with ways of combating issues related to human health and diseases. Within its scope lies the design, fabrication, use, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical and health equipment and processes respectively. It is the synergy of the applications of biological and medical engineering in solving problems related to man.

It does not stop there; they also partake in the daily management and problem-solving workflow of basic healthcare technology. These management duties include capital asset planning, project management, budgeting and personnel management, designing interfaces and integrating medical systems, training end users to utilize medical technology and evaluation of new devices for acquisition.
Over the years, awareness for this noble profession in the country has been discouraging, and this has had debilitating effects on the provision of healthcare in the nation. The awareness level in the country notwithstanding, this discipline has managed to play a crucial role in the advancement of quality healthcare in Nigeria.
