Chief, I get your point. Maguire could have passed to Telles but he chose a high risk pass that could break Leicester's press and advance the attack.

I guess my issh is with the usage of "wrong pass", maybe a "high risk pass" would have be the right phrase here.

Some mistakes can be defended against. Some, you can do nothing about.

Maybe you should think about that.
And when those at the front don't help to press, mistakes will happen at the back. When the team can't make themselves available to receive passes, fatal mistakes will happen. City is very good because they rarely make mistakes up front. It's either the ball goes out of play or they press with sense to win the ball back. When they're unable to do this, the defense panics and their own mistakes becomes more fatal because they play closer to their goal. It's just the way football works

Maguire shouldn't have passed the ball knowing it was Fred and not Carrick or Scholes. Fred crumbles under that kind of pressure so even as a modern footballer you have to apply common sense.

Having said that, the goal exposed what i said earlier about Fred. He shows up for passes he should not show up for. He should know his own limitations and stop making himself available for passes in dangerous positions. The execution of the pass itself was atrocious but equally important is his lack of field awareness and self-awareness.
