Maguire shouldn't have passed the ball knowing it was Fred and not Carrick or Scholes. Fred crumbles under that kind of pressure so even as a modern footballer you have to apply common sense.

Having said that, the goal exposed what i said earlier about Fred. He shows up for passes he should not show up for. He should know his own limitations and stop making himself available for passes in dangerous positions. The execution of the pass itself was atrocious but equally important is his lack of field awareness and self-awareness.

That’s not a dangerous pass from Maguire. Fred has received these kinds of passes in recent times and given a one time pass to AWB or another player.

It’s as if he builds the trust of his team mates to shatter it completely.
