Bros, gotta have better situational awareness than this, may not be the best idea to have your number splashed all over these pages.

Reach out to the guy privately. DM or something.

Drove from Lagos to Jos August last year. left Lagos around 8am and got to lokoja between 7 to 8pm met serious hold up along lagos- ibadan exp road. full tank of 70litre took me to ganaja junction in lokoja where I bought another fuel that took me to abacha road in mararaba.
Spent the night there and continued next morning to Jos.
Gave a policeman a lift from the filling station at ganaja jxn to abuja that made it easy for me to evade custom wahala cos I was driving a tokunbo car.
Overall the movement was smooth and no issues.
Just drive carefully
car is a 2011 Camry SE 4 cylinder

Only suggested a safer route where you drive without worrying of being kidnapped or robbed. Might be wrong with the time.

Akoko - Okenne - Lokoja is the last route I will ever take, though a longer trip but will rather take Otukpo through oweto bridge as I suggested earlier or take Otukpa - Ayingba Ajaokuta - Lokoja. Nothing like peace of mind when driving.

You're definitely wrong with the timing... But very right on the last route you wrote. If you're heading to Abuja from SE or SS, it's best to use Enugu - Otukpa - Ajaokuta - Lokoja - Abj.

Lagos to Enugini? grin

This is not a safer route. Between ore and delta you can be kidnapped or robbed at any time of the day, and let me add this, more than once grin

Lagos - adoekiti- obajana - Lokoja - abuja is the current safest route. Trip can be done in 9hrs that way, been there done that possibly 30times.

Most them never even pass Berger in ages. Bro listen to Gazzuzz that is your best route to Abuja. If you need a guide we are right here to help you out but no listen to some enemy of progress who expect everybody to follow their failed steps

My political ambitions takes me to ilesa every month and am yet to experience the rubbish the guy is talking about. And if you think ilesa route is unsafe pass through Ife and link ilesa to akure road upfront .

This was very detailed, I’ve also not driven long distance before, farthest I’ve driven was Abuja to Jos, I’m not really worried about fueling, Tyre wear and suspension are my major worries. I plan on leaving by 5am, peeled of my tints to avoid police wahala a long time ago but I’ll still keep change handy grin, thank you very much, we plan on enjoying the trip.
You will enjoy the trip, drive safely and moderately

You have no business with Ilorin. You must hit the road as early as possible and prepare to spend the night on the road if you cannot get to Lokoja by 6pm.

Ibadan - Ado Ekiti - Omuo - Kabba - Obajana - Lokoja is a better choice than Ibadan - Akure - Kabba/Okene - Lokoja due to the lonely roads in the Akoko axis of the route.

NB : Google map estimate is totally different from the total number of hours you will spend on the road. There are currently 2 road constructions - Lokoja and Gwagwalada and you are likely to waste precious man hours in those locations.

Wishing you a safe trip.

Follow this route advise

Good morning all, I recently moved to Lagos for a new job, having been here for a year I am planning on going back to Abuja for Easter, not really a fan of public buses and due to the surge in traveling Flight rates are astronomical for me and my fiancé, so driving would be my surest, most convenient and cheapest alternative. I have gone through previous travel threads but they all seem dated so I’m looking for an update.
I plan on leaving Thursday morning 5am, Im driving 2012 Honda Accord coupe. My questions would be:
1. First time driving such long distance, is it advisable? I’m not such a tough chap but I’m sure I can manage
2. How safe is the trip? With the kidnapping trend going on.
3. How much would it cost me to fuel? Car is a 4 cylinder without a cat(catalytic converter)
4. How rough will it be on the car? Car is less than 5months old, wouldn’t want to rough it up just yet
5. How accurate is google maps? It estimates 12hrs through Ibadan and 14hrs through illorin.
Aside from the above any other advice or assistance would be welcomed.

First of all.. Look for gazzuzz and buy that portable Cat converter... Fix in your car and fuel Consumption will be no issue

This person has obviously never made this trip before. May not even have made any interstate trips.

Otukpo to Abuja is 3 hours? By underground railway?
There's a shortcut to Abj from Otukpo now.
You bypass Makurdi,Lafia etc.
And yes,it is close if not exactly 3hrs.
Pass thru Loko-Oweto bridge and come out to Keffi.

In his dreams or reality....

I have left Abuja at 9 and was in Lagos by 6 using the Akoko Edo road.

I don't recommend it.

That road is too lonely.

I kept very high average speed. I drove in excess of 160km anytime the road was good. it has its fair share of bad spots.

but the problem is that there is too much kidnapping for ransom on that route hence I do not recommend it.

so to my mind it is possible

Thank you sir, the trip was last minute, the topic just came up last night and all the flight deals I’ve seen are a little expensive. Can’t fly air peace so it’s just arik. That roughly 80k plus minus hotel and other expenses, fueling would cost a little over 30k both ways. I’m worried about safety tho, with madam in the car I’m not sure I’d want to take the risk undecided

Fly madame and drive down...it's not always a good idea to travel in same car with a fam member

The roads are so dilapidated now that your calculations are hardly feasible... I've driven the same road lately but from Benin to Abuja. It could be so lonely sometimes that you're the only road user within sight. Not funny.

Festive period means high traffic.... Chances of kidnapping will be lesser. You could just tail public transport buses by keeping an average speed with them and changing lanes with them at the bad patches...
