Igbo And Yoruba Like US And China We Just Can't Truly Be Friends by AlexBells(m): 9:11am On Mar 23, 2021 |
We are not going to make threats of war, We are both capable of annihilating ourselves, but friendship is far from It. We are both super power tribes in our own Right, while the Igbos in this regards are more like US, Yorubas are like China, this is not on slotting who is more powerful, I'm more on the reality of undermining. While Igbos are more liberal, Yorubas are more conservative, then apart from all that, our elders have had a history of undermining each other and it need remain so, just Yesterday Doyen Okupe had thrown a Jab on the Igbos by bringing some classic rhetoric and just this morning Osita Chidoka had retaliated by lambasting Yorubas political Sage Obafemi Awolowo. In all these it a clear evidence that both Yoruba and Igbo will live in mutual respect not friendship in a regional Nigeria or as sovereigns. We will still accuse each other on who imported the bio weapons in our each borders. Even when we both knows the truth we will like to hip the blame on the other. Our two tribe suspicion could make or mare the continent, but as for us Igbos, the Yorubas remains the tribe we respect the most in the whole of Africa but you see friendship, we will choose even Fulanis as friends before choosing Yorubas. It just can't work we are natural adversaries, thank God at least we are a little far from each other. |

Imagine saying igbos are more liberal than yorubas. I'd it by religion, inter tribal marriages, or what induces exactly. It's more like yorubas are the US and igbos are china. Us is bigger and stronger and more liberal. They're also the centre. While igbos like china are conservative, known for manufacturing and desperate to come on top. 4 Likes |

Aderewah:You can be US if it makes you feel better, just that the analysis did not take from the angle you are seeing it, I just painted a scenario of mutual respect that does not implicate friendship, if it is in that case that you are seeing it, Yorubas are about fifty fifty muslims and Christians, Igbos are majority Christian's just like US, Igbos tend to be more liberal while Yorubas tend to be conservative, for instance while our movie industry is aimed nationwide Yorubas are more about regional stuff. Igbos are more democratic and Republican while Yoruba culture makes the Obas almost absolute just like the communist party. Yorubas are not like the China of today, Yorubas are like the Chinas of fifty years ago, a sleeping giant, while the Igbos are like the us of fifty years ago an industrial revolution that will introduce the star nation now, the question is, would Igbos give China the same free hands US have China at China's struggling stage, now we had seen what a threat China had become to America, so we learn from there, currently the Igbos are the industrial backbone of Nigeria while the West remains an Agricultural power house that will struggle to take care of her population. Yorubas have the potential to be a threat from our industrial dominance so that's the analysis. Dont see the US and China of today, see them backwards fifty to 100 years ago and you get the answer, then America was just experiencing the industrial boom while China was struggling to put itself together. 1 Like |

AlexBells:You mean "you would choose the Fualni before the Yorubas as friends?" Pls dont tag the rest of the Igbos here, becos we know where they stand. Meanwhile you can go ahead and choose the Fulanis as friends, Since you dont like your peace anymore. Pride comes before a fall and it may be a stumbling block in actualizing your BIAFRA. It only a foolish man that will continue to repeat them same thing and still expect a different result.Learn from the British & Americans during the WW2. They had to formed alliance with the Russians just to defeat the Germans who happens to be their common enemy. There were no love between these two countries but they formed a bond for a purpose. After the war, what happened? they went their separate ways and became worse enemies till today. The Yoruba and Igbo should pls swallow their pride. if you guys wish to succeed with your agitations.Your arrogance of thinking you can win it alone will not help you. The Igbos should take advantage of this opportunity and key into the new mantra of secession from the southwest. Then see how to harmonised the whole agitation so that you guys can have a united front to achieve your aim of secession from Nigeria,. afterward, you guys can now go your separate ways after your struggle. I am shocked that you would rather be friend with a Fulani than a Yorubas..I am from the SS. 2 Likes 1 Share |

AlexBells: You're spitting a whole lot of nonsense. Whether 50 years ago or next 200 years, SW is like US and SE is like China. You know nothing and that is your problem. About Liberalism or Conservatism: It is simply the ability to welcome new ideas. Yorubas welcome far new ideas more than the igbos. That is why they were able to accept two different religions. In many families, father is a Christian and mother Muslim. In the heart of Yoruba land, Guru Mah Raj, a Buddhist has had his camp for decades. Nobody disturbed him. If he was in Enugu, he would have been burn down. Igbos only accepted catholism after much resistance but nothing else. They frown at new ideas that are separate from existing cultural norms, unlike the very free spirited Yoruba. Obas are never absolute and this statement prove to me you know nothing of the Yoruba except your beer parlor vitriol. About technology: The west far outperforms the east as of today. There are more factories in Ogun and Lagos today than all of the SE combined. About digital tech, the SW leads by far. All the top tech compnies in Nigeria, Paystack, Flutterwave, Andela and so many more all have Yoruba founders. About economy: Saying igbos are the industrial backbone of Nigeria is just sheer ignorance or mischief. As illustrated above, most industries in nigeria are located in the SE. The west is not an agriculture powerhouse. That is the north. The west is a diversified giant in commerce, banking, education, media, entertainment, logistics, services and a lot more that is a standard for the rest of Nigeria and many African countries. In conclusion, Igbos are actually the sleeping giant trooping out of the SEs on a daily basis to the SW just as the chinese have always trooped to the US and not the other way around. I hope you have learnt a lot. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

omoharry:Honestly there had been absolutely no movement in AlaIgbo showing that Igbos really want to secede, yes people are agitating but a lot more Igbos are going about their business, I said mutual respect, in this case, we are more likely to attack Fulanis than attack Yorubas becuase we know that attacking Yorubas will come with more cost, then I know Yorubas also feel the same for us, Fulanis are a minorities on a good day we Igbos can put them in their place, alliance is different from friendship, Allaince has different levels, even though North Korea shows more rhetoric than China agaisnt US, US knows that North Korea is not a much threat, if at all North Korea is a threat to anybody it is South Korea and Japan. Yes Fulanis are threats to our allies in Kogi and Benue but they are not a real threat to our territorial integrity, should we fight an all out war with Fulanis a decisive defeat will be endured for us but I can't say same if we are to fight with Yorubas. We don't have a common enemy with the Yorubas, fulanis had stepped on many toes that does not make them specifically our enemy, they are more of an enemy to Benue than to ndigbo. |

Aderewah:You are being emotional, look at it this way, China have more industries than US but how many of the industries are Chinese, cheap labour in the west makes industries prevalent but that does not equate to indigenous ownership fact, most manufacturers like apple, Nokia, etc have their production facilities in China becuase of cheap labour. South West is an agricultural giant just like the North, Nestle foods, Yale, Coacao, Think about poultry, that's where The East source poultry from. AlaIgbo is more indigenous industrialist than south west, Innoson, Peace air, Peace mass, Nollywood, Ogbuawa, in fact let's just say Nnewi and Aba. Not minding Onitsha. Banking: While the West could lead in that aspect the AlaIgbo is giving you guys a run, Pascal Dozie and Tony Elumelu comes to mind. Yoi need to understand even at that that Chinese and Switzerland are some of the strongest banking system in the world. Technology: I don't think you are ahead of us, think about nairaland, think about Linda Ikeji, you need to know that you should naturally lead in online financial services like PayPal, flutawave and the rest becuase you already ahead in the backing system but general technology, I hope you know Zynox computer is owned by an Igbo man and we account for over 55% of mobile phone import into the country. Entertainment, well by entertainment is Nollywood going to be included becuase I hope you know should the country divide Igbos are going with Nollywood, for music we all know that Lagos is the financial capital of Nigeria and most tribes have a stake there, for instance you are jit ahead of us in music, while you can boast of fela, wizkid, olamide, etc., we have Osadebe, Square, Phyno etc. Should you include sports well we are both well represented also. I had told you I didn't chose America to make you feel less, maybe you can look at it this way Yorubas are like UK or France while Igbos are like Japan or Germany, it still won't go down well ?? 1 Like |

AlexBells: See the nosense this guy is saying. Nestle and Yale are industries. Processing plans, not agricultural companies. Airpeace and Nollwood are not industries. Are you intelligent at all? In banking, you are not giving any run. WIthout the SW, Elumelu and Dozie will be nothing. Ask them to put their headquarters in Anambra if you are doubting. The nairaland you mentioned is a yoruba owned company. Only Linda Ikeji is Igbo and she made it in the SW. An igbo man importing phone means you are technologically advanced? There is a yoruba nollywood industry that is as big as the Igbo one if not bigger. Yoruba movies are seen in many countries across Africa. In music, fashion, newspapers, televisions, radio, magazines, publishing, it is not even close. The SW is like the US in the 60s and the SE is like China 30 years ago. Finish. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Aderewah:I'm not going to drag on Igbo vs Yorubas from the angle you are seeing it, having headquarters in the Lagos is that what you count as achievements that should point more to my claim that South west is just a haven for investors to remit money to their country, with this you can now see that most of the companies in Lagos are not Yorubas and should the country divide movable ones will be moved or even dismantled. Okay, be the US of today, I have nothing against being like China just that we are not like them, they are communist, not capitalist like us, and there is no other country in this class of relationship with US, what I'm just stressing is, we respect ourselves but we can't be friends. In reality Igbos are more like Japan but currently Japan maintains a friendly relationship with US, the analysis is not based on success or Military might it is the role in global politics and affairs, but to get it down, again be like UK let us be like Germany, UK and Germany is in mutual respect but not friendship in Europe. Again I did not say that Nairaland is owned by Igbo I said while Yorubas can boast of Seun we too can boast of Linda, whether Linda lives in Lagos or not is not an issue here, should Nigeria divide shes Igbo and most Igbos will leave Lagos with their properties, the non movable ones will be bought back by the government's or we resell it to other nationalities or demolish them. |
