Please experts in the house, is it possible to charge a battery bank with 2 inverters? I looked at these 2 volts battery that hat have 2 positive and 2 negative terminals and was thinking that for effective charging,a charging source ( inverter or solar can be connected on one set of positive and negative while another charging source is connected on the other positive- negative source. Is it possible or why do they have double positive and negative terminal per battery. Even some 2v 1000ah have 4 sets of positive and negative terminals per battery. |

omotoda: You can put more than one charger on a battery so long as the cumulative charging current is within the limits of the battery. A neater way will be to route the chargers to a central busbar and then take a single positive and negative to the battery from the busbar The multiple terminals on the 2v LA are supposed to be connected together.....my guess is that each terminal represents certain capacity and a combination makes the total capacity but I may be wrong on that. 2v LA people may advice better. 1 Like |

Hello folks, most of the time I now get my battery filled up by noon and I wonder what else folks use their excess power for? Am considering a geyser but does that work in this part of the world? Anyone using it? |

Congrats on this milestone! I understand that you want to heat up water with your excess PV as a sort of diversion load? Since you have a Deye this could be achieved with the secondary AC output? Or else you could attach one of your tasmotas and use it to sense battery SoC or PV state and then switch ON or OFF the load or if too large use it to energise a contactor to switch the load. These were my first thoughts without any rigor. ojeysky: |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Right those are the "how to" Deye secondary input or sonoff is what I plan to use, but my question was actually about "what to" i.e what are people utilizing their excess PV on? |

For me cooling it is - ACs, ACs and more ACs during the day. Already mounted a 300L solar water heater on the roof so hot water needs are covered. The dream is to be able to run 5 to 6ACs 24/7 if possible - the limiting factor is overnight battery capacity. ojeysky: 2 Likes |

ojeysky: I'm usually not at home during the day to make AC an option, though I'm also thinking of it, especially for weekends. Currently I use excess energy from panel to boil my water during the day and for an hour in the early hours of the morning to prevent my people from complaining that water is too tepid. I have stopped using NEPA for my water heaters and water pumps. 1 Like |

I have installed about 10 units of the so called 48v 200ah Felicity. The technical literature actually rates the battery at 48v 7.5kwh so I dont know how how sellers managed to call it 48v 200Ah. I also ran a discharge test at one customer location and I was able to pull out about 5kwh measured at the inverter AC out - this equates to about 5.5kwh of DC energy before the battery started to scream low battery. If you take this point as 90% DoD then the battery is truly rated at 6kwh at 100% capacity and you can safely take out about 4.5kwh if the desire is to stay above 20% DoD for longevity - at the point point of screaming battery pack was at 49.4v or so so 3.08v per cell. To help put all the numbers in perspective, I do not charge a Lithium battery to 100% full - our max voltage is 56.8 vs Felicity's recommended 57.6v In summary the battery rated 48v 200ah or better yet 7.5kwh has about 4.5kwh of useable energy in it. So really a 48v 94ah battery for effective capacity. If you buy it with these facts in mind, you won't be dissappointed. If you run the battery at the discharge rates suitable for lead acid, you should have no trouble in the near term. You really must look into a LVD mechanism at around 50v so you don't overdrain the battery For the savvy individuals, I do not believe that there is another 1kwh+ of useable energy hiding behind that extra 0.8v of charge - it would be great to interrogate the BMS of which Adrusa who has ripped one out of the battery case has refused to volunteer any details to help us know what BMS it is and crack it open. jamesid29: 3 Likes |

NiyiOmoIyunade: I think they have a good BMS, but I have bypassed their BMS for ANT BMS because I had no way to communicate with it. But the BMS looks fine and well made. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 9:42am On Mar 28, 2021 |
jamesid29: I think it is a good battery. The capacity may have been overstated, but I consider it a good buy. Their 200AH 48V actually has 120AH battery in it, but it cuts of at pretty high voltage around 49V which is about 3v per cell. That is too high in my opinion and that means you are probably getting about 70-80% of useable capacity out of the battery. Bypassing their BMS can help you get a little more from the battery if you like deep discharges. 1 Like |

Boss please post the particulars of this Felicity BMS - pictures, serial numbers and other identifying marks. I am sure interested members of the house will quickly crack it open and establish comms and control for the good of all. I know I can persuade her (BMS) to speak to me but alas I have no access to play with her. One use case I have is ability to natively change the LVD setpoint before battery is critically overdrained. adrusa: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 9:57am On Mar 28, 2021 |
My discharge testing rated it 48v 6kwh. Your independent inspection of the internals confirms 120Ah cells - the two data points are amazingly close. Please tell us more about the BMS itself - enough details to attempt communications. I am very eager to speak to her. The constraint I have is all units I have access to are already installed at customer sites so not available for tinkering with. In fact I had to trick one customer to perform a capacity test and determine the true battery rating. Told him we needed to 'calibrate' the battery so that all the 4 modules he purchased could 'sync' well with each other . He gladly obliged! adrusa: 3 Likes |

Deep discharges = shorter life and more risk of cell imbalances and early failure I feel we are already at a disadvantage for cycle life in the tropics with ambient temperatures at 32degC vs the reference 25degC. Any extra stress to battery could only worsen things? adrusa: |
