How My Sour Soup, Turned Into Another Woman's Thanksgiving by AfriNotesNEWS: 11:01am On Mar 28, 2021
I use to hear about hunger in the land but never know how, so just Yesterday last night I had forgotten to warm my soup and had slept off. I woke up this morning to find it sour. I wasn't happy at all. Especially with the fact that I had just cooked it a day before. I couldn't stop blaming myself.

I brought out the pot and placed it angrily outside. My neighbor who had seen me drop the full pot of soup outside asked.

"Neighbour, you go warm am?"

"No. E spoil. I wan trowey am."

"You no warm am last night?"

"I been forget. Sleep carry me for night."

"Eyaaa…"

I returned into the house to bring out other plates to wash. When I got back, I found her licking her fingers.

"E no too bad o. The soup good small. You sure sey you no need am?"

I glared at the sour pot of soup and at her.

"No, I no need am"

"Okay. Make my pikin them come carry am. Them go use am chop eba this morning. E go finish. The way them go rush this soup now now go shock you. If the soup do three days seff e try."

Before I could find words to say to her she picked the pot of soup and dashed into her house speedily. Probably trying to hurry up before I change my mind about giving her the soup again.

Her first son returned with the empty pot and handed it over to me.

"Thank you." He muttered.

The daughter, a five year old, popped her head through the window and smiled.

"Uncle Praises, thank you."

The twin children ran out playfully and blurted "Uncle Praises thank you."

And their mother finally emerged laughing.

"See how them the happy. Them don see food."

Tears gathered up in my eyes. I ran into my room and cried like a child.

How one man's poison becomes another man's food.

How one man's fish becomes another man's chicken.

How one man's rag is another man's Christmas cloth.

How my sour soup, turned into another woman's thanksgiving.

Value whatever you have. Appreciate whatever you enjoy. For another man somewhere, searches immensely for what you have, and wishes to own just half of what you own.

My last birthday I reeled out my rides and told my boy to take people from where I stay to iyana ipaja. It's been like forever I've been in public transport. I just wanted to use that as mini giveaway. That day I learnt a very big lesson. Anytime I drop them they will say oga how much. I'll just wave my hand and zoom of to pick the next batch. During one of the trips, the third to be precise this man was calling his employer that he doesn't have money to move from iyana ipaja. That when he gets there he will trek to agege. That he should at least send recharge card. That even his family haven't eaten. I was eavesdropping with scope. A few moments later his phone rang. The man was begging his wife to wait that before 5 he will be home. What pained me was the lady from the conversation was complaining "lati ano" since yesterday repeatedly. The guy was just mabinu mabinu. My eyes fill. When he dropped let's just say he didn't have to do that job ever again and his family ate. Make I end am there.
Please anytime you can help anyone please do. Those accounts people drop in random threads for help push money into them. Even if na scam just push. Leave judgement for God. If you want to be anonymous use POS guys. People dey suffer. Even the rich also cry at times

I can relate.

Early last year, I arranged my old clothes and intended to give it to meruwa whenever he comes around. After a while, my lodgemate came around to play Ludo game and asked about the clothes in the sack, resting beside the door. I explained to him that I wanted to give it to meruwa. No be say these clothes fine self. I am a nerd and don't wear flashy clothes to begin with.

After checking them out, he said they are still fine and asked if he could carry them. I said Yes. The thing is, he is in the same faculty with me, though just an acquaintant.

Long story short, this guy washed them and started wearing them. He even wear some of them to our joint (elective) lectures. I nearly believed that I was wasteful.

It then dawned on me that you might think things are bad for you, but it's far worse for some people. Na manage everybody dey.

thanks for this!
u successfully motivated me to continue giving.
I've created enemies and friends through giving.

hunger is everywhere... chairmen dem doing well and leaving crumbs in d past, now call me for help and I am always happy to do the little I can.

giving can be stressful sha...sometimes I feel drained because no one gives me anything ever! sometimes I wish people will at least gift me nice stuff that i won't have to buy for myself, may be someday....until then, God keeps coming thru for me.
