What has banks got to do with this?
You are paying to somebody's account voluntarily.
The banks don't give dates.
They don't care is US Govt runs away sef.

The question should be why are you paying visa fees if there are no dates till 2024?

When your visa go expire?

Thanks for your response, we'll reduce to 3weeks if that'll make getting the visa easier, only wanted to use the opportunity to visit some friends and family in some other states, we're being sponsored by my aunt.

Would you truly be staying for 3 weeks instead of 2 months? I think too often, we underestimate how much the VOs know about the host country. The VO obviously is aware that August/September is the time schools re-open in Nigeria. By October, kids are looking at mid-term exams... yet that is the time the kids are traveling on "vacation" to visit friends and family?

Your aunt signing an affidavit of support is a waste of her time. The VO won't read it, it carries no weight. In my view, it actually counts against you... if your aunt is needed to support you while in the US, it means you can't afford to travel, so why are you taking the risk?

At the risk of being attacked, I will talk. This is another reason why we are all viewed as untruthful, untrustworthy and unrepentant at the embassy. They have no empathy for Nigerians at the embassy because of this kind of attitude. We all know these plans are illegal yet it is posted on a public forum where we know embassy officials visit frequently. When this is pointed out, the OPs response is lackadaisical to say the least. It may be laughable to you but know that people are watching and taking notes and reinforcing their negative stereotypes of Nigerians In entirety.

lol I call this the "nobody holy pass" excuse.

Why are banks/embassy collecting visa fee if there are no appointment date till 2024?

This is just rip off.. and the visa fee expires after one year I believe .

Oga, no waste your vexation on the banks or embassy. The banks really have no fault in this. Direct your anger at the useless Ministry of External affairs which should be fighting for Nigerian's rights at the embassies. Are they not aware of all the wahala that Nigerians go through at these embassies? Is it not their job to summon the foreign ambassadors and complain about these issues and demand that they treat us better? The Nigerian government has no regard for its citizens so why should foreigners have any regard for us except for the fact that they preach fairness and justice? We can only appeal to them to practice what they preach when our government cannot and does not fight for us.

Nigerian's do not have a right to obtain a US visa... which likely explains why the Ministry of External Affairs cannot weigh in. You have a right to apply for a visa, you have a right to be heard, but the VO/embassy is not obligated to grant you a visa. The "wahala" you go through at the embassy is squarely the fault of Nigerians - 1) too many people are applying for US visas (no embassy can handle the sheer volume of Nigerians seeking US visas); 2) too many Nigerians have abused their visas, these have serious consequences on subsequent visa applicants, regardless of how genuine they may present.

The real problem isn't the embassy, it is us.

The wahala I am referring to is all the issues relating to getting an interview date, dates going out 2 years at the present, payment expiring before your date arrives, lack of clear information, tech issues etc. These are process issues that our authorities need to lean on the embassy to resolve. Go to India and see how things are run smoothly there. They process 10 times the number of applications that are done in Nigeria without all the silly issues we experience. Information is readily available and accessible by phone calls and email as opposed to guesswork and word of mouth here in Nigeria. The Indian gobernment does not play, neither should ours.

why should they have appointments for 2024 and they know fully well you have to pay before booking an appointment, cos some people might prefer 2024 and want a particular date and decide to pay for it. if the embassy collects money from someone who booked 2024 and then says o it expires in one year , isnt that wayo wayo... it is not Nigerians fault that they issue visas to people and those people decide to overstay . They have no fault and make no mistakes based on their policy , so they shouldn't blame Nigerians for overstayers, they chose to issue the visa, the ones that overstayed didn't issue themselves visas. They should work on those that misused their visa not blame a whole country for their own misjudgment. If they say no Nigerian should come to the USA people go adjust.

Well said.....

They should rather stop accepting payment for b1b2 visa since the foolish embassy decided to fix interview date until 2024,,,, meanwhile the payment receipt expires in one year! What a mess on Nigerians

You are correct. We don't have a right to be granted a visa, but that isn't what he is talking about.

The embassy through its website is giving the impression that they are processing visas albeit limited.

Booking a date is the very last step.
You can't view the calendar ahead of payment.
You can't book appointments unless you have paid.
Available dates are in 2024 but payment is valid for a year. We are in 2021. Haba. Make it make sense.

It is pure extortion.

If they put the right information on their website instead of making it seem like they're open to everyone, people will conform and find their square root elsewhere instead of throwing away 67k without even getting an interview at all.

I touched on this briefly before. The statistics show that this statement is inaccurate. China and India process much higher volumes of applicants than Nigeria yet they don't experience the issues we see in Nigeria. In a good year, they issue approximately 100 thousand Non immigrant visas in Nigeria, 800 thousand in India and 1.2 million plus in China. Refusal rates are somewhat similar in Nigeria and India. Data from February 2021 shows they issued approximately 1,400 NIVs in Nigeria and almost 30 thousand in India.

Visa approved today... Glory to God and Honour to Mary.
Family of 4.
We have traveled once to the US in 2019.
I was refused Canadian study permit last year and the VO asked. This means that they actually share information oo. I was scared when he asked shaa but God proved he's God always.
To all applicants, I wish you all the best.

What was the reason for the embassy to cancel your appointment please?
Alba3:
Good day. I want to ask if someone can fill new form Ds-160 after interview for April was cancelled by the embassy. The plan to attend sister's wedding in June is no longer feasible due to unavailability of interview date. Now a older brother that's a citizen wants to now be the recipient relative early next year. Adjustment is needed since already submitted ds-160 could no longer be edited. Please, how does one go about this?

No reason but I guess there are others that have their appointment cancelled in march and April. Email was sent to them but the reply was that ''the embassy reserved the right to cancel any appointment...'' they encouraged new appointment to be booked or make use of emergency appointment....

Please I need assistance the experienced ones here.i applied for a UK visa using an agent who charged me one million hundred thousand naira, which I paid six hundred thousand as part payment but I was denied and the agent refunded me five hundred thousand naira instead.i don't know what he did or what he submitted but he called and said I was denied..i believe I am not banned because nothing was written on my passport..?

So now I want to apply for American visiting visa myself..i have been dating a black American that wants me over there now..he sent me an invitation but it didn't go through because he didn't include his passport number so he went to apply for his passport but they told him they are far behind and it will take sometime for him to get his passport which might take more than four months..he intends to use fiancee visa to bring me over or come here,we get married and he goes back to file for me but he said 8months to 1year is too much for him to wait after marriage..so now he asked me to try visiting visa and see how it goes, if it works fine but if it doesn't then he would have to take off from work and come down..
Please I need good advice from the experienced ones here as I don't know what to do or how to start..thanks
