Sociology is a nice course to study if you are in a country like India... Infact sociology is one of the most studied course at india because the are interested in solving their environmental caused issues by men through science but Nigeria.... Nah... Though you can teach social studies with it or even lecture in a university with it.... I hope I helped a bit. 49 Likes |

IamBroke: If you come out you'll be very good at marketing jobs since it's expected you'd already be trained rigorously on socializing with people easily but I'll rather go for Psychology the only useful course in Social sciences hope this helps 24 Likes 1 Share |

Pol science and sociology; there's no difference between the two. Besides didn't you hear that undergraduates should no longer go to school with the mindset of fitting into existing systems upon graduation. 46 Likes 2 Shares |

See sociology is a great course its just the Nigeria society that's making it look useless. I'm currently studying sociology and I'm in my finals I plan on relocating abroad. After graduating just move abroad, there are plenty of jobs waiting for you or better still enroll in uniform jobs in Nigeria I.e customs, Army, immigration etc God bless Sony interactive entertainment ;God bless the United States ;God bless Nigeria ;God bless Kogi state; God bless the good people of Okene 22 Likes 4 Shares |

If you are planning to study the following courses, please don't think that you will end up in your field. They are almost useless in Nigeria Political Science Sociology Psychology Microbiology Biochemistry Parasitology Public Admin (very useless course) Economics Nigeria is gradually moving from what you studied to what skills you have and what you can do with them 70 Likes 1 Share |

Very quickly, you'll come to learn that these things don't matter so much in Nigeria. Other than core professional courses, most other courses don't determine what you do later in life. The economy is not designed in a way that allows people make a career/living in their specific disciplines. Just try to get a good grade, first class or 2.1 preferably. It significantly improves the opportunities available to you. 25 Likes |

Sighs...SMH No Line of profession that is not worthwhile or profiting what is always the missing link is the ability to monetize your knowledge , training or Skills acquired..... Howbeit ill always tell youths to make sure they do self discovery before taking up a course to study in higher institutions. In another news make sure you are earning online if you have access to internet and online skill sets/passion. I remember back then in school, our lecturers kept lying to us that as a sociologist you can work anywhere and everywhere, here we are after graduation, anywhere and everywhere will even ask you what sociology is all about like they have never heard of it before or it’s kind of strange course, you will start asking yourself if you haven’t made the wrong choice of coming for the interview...... 26 Likes 1 Share |

It is obvious you're still so disconnected from the reality in Nigeria, well so you know 3 factors determine where you work in Nigeria: * Who you know * Who knows you * Cash at hand I bought the belt I am currently using from a lady that graduated with a First Class. She was referred by her coursemate who had second class upper but working with a multinational. Though, he had pickup some jobs where he got the needed experience. So even if you're to get a job on merit previous job experiences count more than papers. But in a country that things are straight, you fit in, in security sector, etc. A friend is with the police as a senior officer. 8 Likes |

It's a course you can easily get a first class in if you're serious but it's largely useless in the job market.... except you get an MSc or MBA to combine it with. Someone said you should study psychology....I highly recommend this, it's one of those courses I wish I studied, there are opportunities for you in finance, health and almost any sector plus it's a really interesting course. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Even though some courses makes it easier to get a good job but in most cases, it's not the course or the grade, it's about you. To answer your question, in this present Nigeria. No! 1 Like |

If you want to use your certificate to make big money in Nigeria, you go for medical sciences, laws and financial studies. Engineers do a bit better too especially the computer engineers. Others are subordinates. 2 Likes |
