It's very easy for me to recognize and separate calls from HR personnels, calls from scammers and calls from just any other person!

No, but she won't be resuming!

She finally lost the opportunity because of a phone call.
She had received the call in the early hours of today, 10:00am precise. It was from the HR department of the bank.

But she didn't say "hello".

Her first remark when she picked was "who's this?"

Before she got any other reply she added "how did you get my number?"

The HR person goes "Am I speaking to Miss xxxxxxx?"

She felt the question is unnecessary! And she gave her final response.

"Please if you don't want to introduce yourself get out of my phone" that was her final word!

I got a feedback from the HR by 12noon today and I listened to that conversation. Those kinds of phone calls are always recorded for reference purposes.

Aunty lost the job because she lacks Phone Conversations Etiquette! I listened to the recorded version of that conversation.

She lost the job because she believes every unknown male caller is a "chyker".

You see? After all it's not always because HR people are "despicable" as they have been labeled by Nigerians!

Why would a Homosapien answer a phone call like this in the year 2020AD?

The more i read this the more am beginning to think it is fake. Writeup. If HR manager want you to employ mr abc, even if mr abc messed up on the phone they are still going to employe him then train him on his phone manners.

Another example is if personnel director said recruit Mr Abc, and you as the HR assistant or manager called Mr Abc but because mr Abc was rude on the phone to you you are not going to employ mr abc that your director said you should employ.

Oga abeg Stop giving HR people bad name. It is good Friday, am going to save what i think of you for next time.

Dont say she lost her job cos of telephonic etiquette, who told you they have offered her the job? Maybe the call is just for an interview, attending interview calls does not guarantee a job .

I think the HR was not right, she supposed to officially introduce herself first as the receiver answers the call. A company with such awkward culture deserves not to work for.

I share your view too. I had to go back to check the first two words shared by them. Possibly if the lady had responded hello, HR could have possibly responded with his or her identity.

The lady didn't do well, but HR too didn't do it right.

That was how I was innocently picking and dropping one lady in my department in the office with my car, the very day I bought my car and start driving it to work, we actually stay one estate apart and I thought it wise since she ain't mobile, let me be helping her, of which my fiance knew and was was cool with, fast forward to after 3 months of constant picking her in the morning and dropping her after work at her gate,

If you call me for example and I don't know your number, What will it take me to say Hello richy4 speaking.. it's just like a default setting for me.... Then U will say hi to me by calling my name, then introduce yourself to me.... If due to certain reasons you forget to introduce yourself, thinking I know you and might recognize your voice... I will say may I know who is speaking please.... It's just common etiquette and manners.. she is mannerless.

when u said she should have been cautious as a job seeker, were you indirectly implying that she should pretend to be nice while speaking to You as a HR then later unleash the stuff she was made of while working with customers?...No wonder mannerless people occupy customer service positions if U as someone working with HR couldn't see what the other HR saw.... I'm glad that the experienced HR dictated it early.. there were lot of mannerless people in the bank those days especially in First Bank.. Imagine adding this one to their statistics... though I don't know if they were still like that.. .

its not about how you feel. You are representing an organization and the standard practice is if you call someone, you introduce yourself especially for professional calls. I have recieved calls from representatives of fortune 500 companies and even my doctor. It is the same format. They call and tell me who is speaking first

I wonder how many times you guys will recycle this story. Today it is bank, tomorrow it would be an IOC.

While we implore people to learn phone etiquette, no HR would call you in that manner. Nigerian HRs are bad, but not this bad. Even the number they’ll use to call would tel you the caller is most likely official, not an individual.

No bank employs a GRADUATE over a phone call. Na cleaner? You wanna preach phone etiquette? Fine, but don’t overdo it.

Bros I'm a qualified HR personnel, HR do not speak like that on the phone. The first thing you do is introduce yourself as HR personnel because the person (talent) you're calling may not have your number

2) after introducing yourself and why you are calling you can even ask if the talent is free to talk now or he or she want you to rearrange the call also you must be apologetic you are sorry for calling without notice etc.

I have friends in naija that are HR assistant they behave professional that HR personnel was not professional that is why i strongly believe the story is fake.

The HR person, if this is a true story, was very wrong. If I were the lady, I will wear this as a badge of honour. When you call someone who does not have your number, the first thing you say at the earliest opportunity is to introduce yourself. No stranger should call my phone and expect me to be nice to him/her while withholding his or her identity. You call a strange number, then introduce yourself ASAP before the receiver even ask you who you are.

You think HR and employers don't evaluate their potential employee's character. Social media posts by people have denied them jobs on so many occasions, I suppose when a customer walks into the bank they won't be greeted by her until they introduce themselves.
