You can as well do your own unbiased research. Sir.

Then STFU and keep your opinion to yourself then.

You gotta love Americans, they've got taste in everything.

I don't think is a matter of taste rather its of necessity.

This is a discussion forum... not a judgement one. If you have done research and discovered the information posted is incorrect then you either post the correct information or find something else to do with your fingers.

@ topic..... very informative. Before reading.... looking at the designs I was figuring the European cab over the engine was to help keep the cabin warm since Europe is colder than the US. This maybe true.... but not in the design plan after considering factors for the difference..... length of overall tractor and trailer vs length of trailer only etc and aerodynamics. America is big on aerodynamics.... and for trucks in particular. Trucks are barred from certain bridges during storms. Few days ago was a little windy... empty trailers were barred from using some bridges.

Please sir, where and how did you learn truck driving in Nigeria? I am very much interested in the career. I have been trying to get a place to learn the skill here in Nigeria without success. Any suggestion will be helpful. Thanks. Do have a nice day ahead.
No, not in Nigeria, i was born in london. It is not so difficult here, i did the driving lessons theorically and practically when i was about 19 years old, and i have to have driven cars for atleast 2 years, I went for the lorry driver lessons theorically and practically, i failed the test atleast twice before passing, you cannot drive without a pass theory and practical test certificate. All the tests cost me atleast £2500 both the failed ones and the pass one.

I drive trains locally at the moment, that i had to pass on the trainings and tests also, safety tests mostly.

We see trucks everyday, but do you know that you can actually differentiate between a truck built for the American market and that built for Europe? grin

Yes, you can even without knowing about Trucks.

The difference is in the design of THE CABIN.

The two pictures above shows the same carmaker (Volvo) with two different designs of trucks. The first picture shows a truck that is made for the American market, and the other shows a truck made for the European market.

In the American made designs, the Cabin is behind the engine

In the European designs, the Cabin is on top of the engine

Both were made for Nigerian market cos both of them are here. Those scatter scatter looking ones that the Americans and Europeans are done with...

One good advantage of the American made ones are the fact that they are very roomy..Infact, it's like a one room apartment.. They come with beds (two, in some cases), air conditioning, TV and the current models also come with microwaves too..

Also, in the event of an accident, the engine is first impacted before it gets to the cabin. So, the driver is likely to be protected.

They are very easy to fall in love with sha

Love it already.

There is also a very pertinent reason why American trucks are designed like they are. Because of how expansive America is. Texas alone is practically the geographic size of Nigeria. It probably takes close to 11 hours of truck driving to move from one end of Texas to another. In that same time period, you will probably transverse several countries in Europe!

Now imagine that truck having to deliver goods across America. The driver has to spend most of his time living in the truck!

Exactly. On the transit routes, there are truck or trailers parks specifically built for d traveling drivers where they can park, take a rest in d truck cabin and refresh before continuing their journeys. Some drivers even use d opportunity to get one or two town ladies pregnant
