We seem not to learn in this country. Which internal conflict have we won purely on military force?

Was there intervention in Gambia or not, despite the fight against Boko haram and Iswap?

So ISWAP's "great attack" will most likely happen during Ramadan or just days to it. The group has been silent for almost half a month now. I only hope the military has not been idle so far.

These guys have ran to Niger, Chad, and Cameron, that's why they are carrying out attacks, or maybe they are on defensive formation now.

Nigeria deployed one warship and provided air components for the Gambian intervention, as well as a few boots on ground mostly providing VIP protection. It was an ECOWAS mission.
The Senegalese were the first to intervene and they committed more bodies and equipments than the entire participating countries.
Stop distorting facts and concocting wild fantasies.

Forget about military regime in Nigeria. Is it Irabo or Attahiru that wants to take over? They will only have their family or at most geopolitical region to rule.

Since they are unknown gunmen, anybody could be the gunmen abi. So everybody is a suspect.

We saw their woeful performance in Mali.

The Nigerian military is so overhyped. I remember when GMB just became the president, the vegetable wanted to stop paying the militants in the creek, he had to quickly change his mind after seeing the kind of havoc Avengers is capable of causing.

vow to occupy Government House

Aggrieved villagers from the eight wards in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have raised the alarm that armed bandits have taken over their local government, sacking over 100 communities in the process.

While adressing journalists on predicament of the people at the Correspondents Chapel office, Minna on Monday, President of Lakpma Youth Assembly said: “The bandits have now made Allawa Games Reserve as their hideout because the government has ceded our lands to them.”

He said the Lakpma axis has suffered persistent banditry, which has culminated in the loss of over 120 lives, rape of women, cattle rustling, destruction and capturing of over 100 communities.

According to Jibrin Allawa: “Without prejudice to the above, the government appears incapacitated or unwilling to do the needful, as recent events suggest the Government has ceded Allawa, Bassa and indeed the entire Lakpma axis to bandits and terrorists.

“We shall mobilize our displaced and hopeless kinsmen to occupy and take shelter in government facilities within Minna if our plight is not addressed in earnest. Until our plight is addressed, we would boycott all civic responsibilities to the state.”

Terrorists are working freely and controlling territories from sokoto to zamfara, from zamfara to kastina and now to Niger.

Most powerful army indeed.

I have no problems with fulanis killing, but let them do so in their states and geopolitical region. I can't wait for the day the vegetable will leave power. I hope the next president will take this issue of Fulani heardsmen seriously. Let local vigilantes be armed with Assault rifles.

Stop distorting facts and concocting wild fantasies.

That radar evasive Nigerian Warship packed more punch, precision targeting and firepower than the entire Senegalese deployment of men and equipment. The armed reconnaissance Air Force operated by the NAF with the capability to strike was the first and only to over fly The Gambia specifically over State House Banjul where Jammeh was holed up and towards the sea and other centers of strategic interest making a statement of intent to enforce the ECOWAS mandate and Alhaji Prof. Dr. Yahya Jammeh got the message. That's what strategic assets can get you without sweat. Yes the Senegalese deployed more men and equipment because it was natural to do so sharing culture and borders with The Gambia but that deployment is incomparable with Nigeria's. The presence of Nigerian Navy SBS commandos also made a whole host of options possible. That was the military plan by ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence lead by Nigeria and it worked. No one expected a confrontation.

Yes there may have been hype by the guys but that's what victors do. Nigeria projecting power that far in the midst of a high intensity war in the North-East and in low level conflicts in the six geo-political zones of the country is no mean feat. It shows capacity, capability and means.

Do not take people boasting about IPOB's capabilities against the NA seriously. They too know the truth. An army that has been able to restrict the second most powerful Islamist group to some local government in Maiduguri is not an army to be taken lightly. Less powerful Islamist groups are wrecking uncontrollable carnage in Mali and other Sahel countries o.

This is so brilliant. And one thing people forget is these are mostly Nigerians we are fighting here, very intelligent and bright people who have an affinity to the land and their cause such like the Kanuri people who make up boko haram which is also a driving force for recruitment. If this was somewhere else it would have been since over.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, says operatives of the Eastern Security Network carried out Monday attacks in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Adamu condemned the alleged act by the security arm of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra. IPOB, however, has since denied been behind the attacks.

The IGP in a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, ordered the immediate deployment of additional units of Police Mobile Force and other Police Tactical Squads in Imo to strengthen security in the state and prevent further attacks on security formations or any other critical national infrastructure in the state.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that gunmen attacked the Imo State Police Command headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Prison.

Scores of vehicles were razed around 1am on Monday when gunmen attacked Owerri and freed at least 1,500 inmates.

The hoodlums also freed the suspects in almost all the cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command.

Reacting in the statement on Monday, the IGP said, “Preliminary investigations have revealed that the attackers, who came in their numbers with sophisticated weapons such as General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Sub-Machine Guns (SMGs), AK49 rifles, Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), are members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The attempt by the attackers to gain access to the Police armoury at the Headquarters was totally and appropriately resisted by Police operatives on duty who repelled the attackers and prevented them from breaking-in and looting the armoury.

“The armoury is thus intact! Similarly, the police suffered no human casualty, apart from a police Constable who sustained a minor bullet wound on his shoulder,” the statement partly read.

The statement was titled, ‘Imo Attack – IGP Deploys Security Reinforcement Squads, Sets Up Special Investigation Team (SIT)’.

The IGP also directed the Commissioner of Police in the state and a new Special Investigation Team “to carry out holistic investigations into the incident with a view to fishing-out the perpetrators and bringing them to justice”.

“The IGP, who described the deliberate and criminal attack on security operatives as an attack on the soul of our nation, has enjoined leaders in Imo State, the South-East and other parts of the country to speak out against the unfolding violence and criminality.

“The IGP calls on citizens to avail the Police and other security agencies with useful information that can assist in identifying and arresting the criminals.

“He vowed that the perpetrators will be brought to book, noting that the Force is doing all within its powers to curb the activities of unscrupulous elements hell-bent on threatening the unity, safety, security and socio-economic wellbeing of Nigerians,” the statement added.

https://punchng.com/breaking-imo-attackers-are-members-of-Igbos-esn-igp/

It took the IGP less than 24 hrs to pin the attack on IPOB. But this same useless IGP have not let us know who tried to kill the Benue state governor grin
