The recovered students, according to the Director, Army Public Relation, Brigadier General Brigadier Mohammed Yerima, are Abubakar Yakubu, Francis Paul, Obadiya Habakkuk, Amina Yusuf and Maryam Danladi. He said, “The rescued students are currently receiving medical attention in a military facility in Kaduna. “The GOC 1 Division, Maj Gen DH Ali-Keffi has commended the troops for their effort and charged them not to rest on their oars until all kidnap victims are rescued and returned to their families.” Daily Trust had earlier reported that parents of the students had neither met nor been told the identities of the rescued students. The Kaduna State Government, on Monday, announced that five of the 39 students abducted from the school dormitory on March 11 2021 had been recovered by the Nigerian army. Daily Trust reports that five of the students were rescued 25 days after gunmen breached the perimeter fence of the institution at Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and abducted 39 students. https://dailytrust.com/afaka-39-army-releases-names-of-recovered-students Were they really rescued or they were freed after ransome was paid? |

Maduawuchukwu: I agree the way you put it, it is the height of sickening ignorance when a group of drug addicts with fetish powers think they are up to the NA, it makes me shudder how IQ value has dropped so drastically in this country, the disgusting part is comparing themselves with ISWAP & Boko haram, most saddening is that some of these deranged sub-humans are regular visitors on this thread. ISWAP & Boko have several advantages no insurgent in the SE has which is Geography. ISWAP has freedom to operate in 4 countries, having space is the best leverage every adversary needs to prolong a war. As you move about in your space, you avoid your adversary, you gain access to supplies, you enjoy ambush & several hit & run tactics, SE hasn't that Luxury & Ojukwu realized it very late, Ojukwu actually thought he could do more with Niger delta corridor but Alas reality dawned on him too late. Nigeria wont fight these drug addicts with more than 2 battalions, the reason is very simple. SE is too small a space, NA TRADOC hasn't changed much from the last civil war so I expect the return of the "Choke" tactics. So the noise about opening another war front is mere idle talk. With advanced surveillance & aerial rapid response, they can achieve it with less. Cut off Ebonyi/Kogi corridor, Abia/Akwaibom corridor, Imo/rivers corridor and choke everything inside, the civilian population will be so uncomfortable till they give up these guys, as months pass by, these blockade will keep collapsing to a point where these guys will be denied every freedom of movement, once you cant move freely, get resupplied, the battle is over, one thing is guaranteed, there will be so many collateral damage so those clapping for them should be ready, all is fair in Love & war, nobody is truly innocent. 6 Likes 1 Share |

jpphilips:Keep on fantasizing till reality hit you. You people just mouth Niger Delta as if it's a tribe, maybe you don't know that the same Igbos are also Indigenous to the Niger Delta. It was an indigene of Niger Delta that led the first coup now termed Igbo coup for convenience and culminating into the civil war. Even the so called Biafra was a coinage from an Ijaw chief. I hope you know the military are having confrontations in AkwaIbom and sooner or later Rivers state would join the fray, many of you especially those from outside the region don't know whats going on. Rivers and Abia have some of the most extremists elements of IPOB if you don't know. I won't even want to drag the matter of a Biafra republic with clowns like you because you people easily bring up this argument when serious issues are being discussed but if you think the Niger Delta region comprising of hundreds of ethnic groups would want to be a part of Nigeria and not be on their own assuming they don't even want biafra then the joke is on you. You think a destabilised South east region wont harm the economy of the country? most especially when Imo state has a proven gas reserve of over 6 trillion cubic ft(A resources of the future) energy coys are tussling to build refineries & win mouthwatering gas deals this govt wants to lay pipes down to Morocco under the guise of AKK project. Those giants gas pipelines to the north you think they don't pass through the region & are buried in the air ? not to talk of the oil exploration in parts of Abia & Imo and the proven reserves in the Anambra trough. All well and good let's watch how things pans out, you people will soon learn that the South east is a major gateway to the economic hub of the country whatever affects it with will spill over. For a government that negotiates with bandits, but don't want to see talking as an option for agitations. Everyone knew that IPOB guys picking up arms today is as a result of the high handedness of the military, by the time they win 100% sympathy of the populace it will be interesting to see how the army will overcome a group that will easily recruit 50k at a go to launch guerilla warfare against an already overstretched and Ill equipped military, that even have IPOB sympathisers within their Officer cadre. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

jpphilips: I doubt the current administration has the balls to do this. Another advantage that ISWAP/JAS has that IPOB/ESN lacks is support from a wide range of experienced allies(Terrorists organizations from all over the world have assisted ISWAP and JAS with supplies, tactics, technology and advising in several roles nevertheless, ESN should never be underestimated, they have easy access to the nation's economic backbone(oil rigs and pipelines; whether they have good relationship with the ND is still debatable but we have seen ex militants like Asari Dokubo associating with them. Use of force should be the last resort. Even the military should be advising the government to avoid force for now, there is nothing beneficial to be achieved from it. Schooling and other economic activities has since stopped in the part of Southern Cameroon where the ambazonias are waging an insurgency, I do not see how the case will be different in the south east. Buhari will leave by 2023 but the damages will take several years to heal. 3 Likes |

Hoverbird: War will never benefit both sides, wars never happen as planned. The support of the people you have today may dissappear tomorrow and the war ESN is clamoring for will take several decades on their own land with their own people being the most casualties. The several tribes you are counting on might betray you when it all starts(exactly the way Ojukwu counted on Awolowo). In the end whether win or lose, the cost will be too great and that region will be set back by several decades. Also the vast majority of Nigeria's gas reserve is offshore. 1 Like |

Whyem15:It's a waste of time engaging arm chair analysts. For someone to even think that a strategy used in the Civil war which was more of a conventional warfare will work now such a person shouldn't be taken seriously, when it's clear that this IPOB guys will resort of guerilla tactics. Let's assume the "Choking" will work why hasn't same be applied to bandits in operating within Kaduna/Niger axis atleast that stretch of forest is within the boundaries of Nigeria. Apply same method in the east and see the entire nations apparathik collapse, most especially now that their are grumblings and mistrust in all regions of the country. This will further boost Nnamdi Kanu propaganda and swell his rank, all he needs to do is to make it seem as if the FG is out to annihilate the people of the region and even academics, and the upper class will but into the propaganda and the least thing we can afford as a nation is anything that will seem to further crack the already loosened thread that holds the country together. I still believe we can de-escalate this Biafran agitations and make Nnamdi Kanu irrelevant by first of all doing the basics to unify the country, and restructuring amongst other measures will assuage the already heightened tension all over the country. The carrot and stick approach may work but outright force will worsen the situation and make those guys hardened & fanatical, how do you now intend to overcome an enemy that has been brainwashed by a certain ideology and they see death as an option rather than capitulating. we will all be in the diaspora analysing choking, & breathing, strategy while those so called bunch of drug addicts, are present in over 100 countries of the world donating money to fund their movement. Nobody is asking why our security agencies can't seem to jam Igbos pirate station which is the single most effective channel that have indoctrinated alot of the populace including the elderly, if the security agencies had done that in its infancy Kanu wouldn't have had that platform & reach rather they were busy chasing inanities rather than the Source. This issue of IPOB is paining me seriously because these guys are wining fanatical converts everyday, travel to the east and parts of the South South(Especially Delta/Rivers) you'll be shocked at massive following Kanu have, many people are becoming sympathetic to his cause this are people that ordinarily would not take him serious before. He uses the realities and issues on ground to manipulate the people and the govt isn't countering it with superior ideology. Now under the guise of Herdsmen crises/Kidnapping(which are real issues) he has floated the ESN which the state/Federal are against, yet they can't come up with something to secure the people from the rampaging Bororo Herdsmen. The people that committed massacre in Uwani in Enugu are still at large, same for the militia herders that commited atrocities in Ebonyi last week even one person hasn't been brought to book. Even if the Devil appears today promising to address issues the people are facing he will surely win converts, are you not surprised that the Igboho's, Gani Adams, Kanus etc are getting popular overnight? We can all keep on postulating, theorising, hypothesising, interpolate & extrapolate while those on ground keep on winning the masses. 6 Likes |

This is the kind of ignorance Nigerian army is designed for, Biafra was coined from the "Bight of Biafra" a region originally inhabited by the Portuguese, another place that got her name from that era was Lagos from Laos", While Kaduna Nzeogwu was from the Mid-west at the time he committed those heinous crimes, it doesn't give him a Niger delta pass because he isnt from an oil producing region. Rivers IPOB radicals have been tested, go to Obigbo & see for yourself, Gov Wike a true Niger delta has humbled & broken their guts. Speaking of Ojukwu's Biafra, do not forget who the first militant against the eastern region was, fought gallantly on the Nigerian side to teach Ojukwu a bitter lesson, his name was Isaac Adaka Boro, Let me also remind you about the guy who piloted Nigerian's largest Naval ship christened the NNS Nigeria, he was the hero of Operation Tiger claw (the fall of Calabar), not only did he conduct the first Amphibious landing in Africa, he sank Ojukwu's only battleship, his name is Navy Captain Sorro. I am not one of those chaps you can sell Kanu's wet dreams to. Judging by 13% derivation from the NBS, Imo state is least on the derivation food chain, AKK pipeline has no business with Imo state, pick up a book!! Obviously, you have no clue why Ojukwu lost that war, do you think he ran out of men? recruiting men in a SE conflict wont do any good, you need a re-supply corridor, where will you get that? Ojukwu tried for 14 months to get it, when the choke took his last capital Owerri, he ran away, are you not aware? I will recommend a book we read in the Academy "Defense & security problems of Land Locked countries by R.N. Mishra and Suveer Singh, after reading this book, you will understand why any insurrection in the SE is a bloody waste of time, even if Nigeria uses only boyscout, they must win!! Dont rely too much on sympathies, when you jail break for recruitment, you are making the people vulnerable to robbers & kidnappers, at a point, they will prefer to have herdsmen than ESN, besides, herdsmen is not a major SE problem except Ebonyi state, Most Anambrarians dont know what Herdsmen look like, but they are wealthy enough to be kidnapped, where do you think their Sympathy will go? 8 Likes |
