AlhajiBitcoin:You can only import raw materials for sugar if you have proof that you already have a strategy for producing those raw materials in future. BUA is hiding under this guise to import the raw material and then export the sugar at a serious profit. If you import raw materials without a backward integration strategy you pay billions in customs duties and levies. But BUA has gotten a discount by simply pretending to have an import substitution plan. That refinery in PH was made solely for export. He is taking advantage of a law that aims to promote local production, and simply granting himself discounts to the detrimebt of other local players. The others are not mugus. |

Dangote and flour mills are right here. FG wants self sufficiency but BUA is talking the shortcut and importing semi processed sugar can to refine thereby weakening the drive of FG towards self sufficiency. |

 Nigerian are usually emotional lots, Flour Mill and Dangote petition the Trade Ministry to protect their interest because someone isn't playing according to the Rules. Flour Mill is one of the biggest farmer in Nigeria as at today and having being to Numan in Adamawa I could see first hand what Savannah Sugar was like before and after it was taking over by the Dangote Group, especially in terms of Job creation for the locals. I had always know Oga Rabiu despite being Alhaji junior brother has make up his mind to copy and do everything Alhaji does, which is not bad on it's own, but this idea of black mail is unacceptable, how can you say "because you refuse to reduce price during Ramadan " , as if most sugar consumers are not mostly industrial clients.At the end it is country like Brazil supplying unrefined raw sugar to be refined in Nigeria that would benefit at the detriment of our local farmers and communities. The idea of being in an Export Processing Zone is not a good enough excuse to jettisoned the Back Integration Policy. If not for Children that would miss Coke and Fanta, I would have prefer Government give zero allocation to the import of unrefined raw sugar into the country |

Monopoly power wont last forever, the south south deserves a sugar factory, we cant be at the mercy of the North for sugar. This country is too big for 1 refinery, 1 cement company and 1 sugar company. |

Bus making sugar affordable for us but the other two are just too greedy; they want sugar to go the way of cement. Dangote and Comontaroun careless about consumers. These people import raw sugar but Bua wants grow sugarcane and process into finished goods and these monopolists are kicking against it. |
