WE HAVE BEEN SHORT CHANGED LONG ENOUGH.I SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN SUDAN HAPPENING VERY SOON.
THE ONLY THING DELAYING IT IS THE GREEDINESS OF SOUTHERN POLITICIANS.

North will continue to use their resources to develop their desert region since they see IGbo as their problems. There land will be exploited and polluted.

The argument by many people here needs to be tested. There are currently many projects cited in the South like refineries, major gas fired power plants, petrochemical companies, seaports, massive LNG plants, numerous factories, major gas pipelines, depots, fertiliser companies, even several of Dangote's industries.

The North is largely underdeveloped in comparison with the South. To unleash our economic potential, the North has to be industrialised to an extent that it can wean itself off dependency on handouts. The country has gas in abundance, both from the rich Niger Delta or from newly discovered oil and gas fields in the North. Utilising gas for power is much cheaper and more sensible than solar or wind which are more expensive to generate and can't be anywhere near the same scale.

Rather than keep reading meanings to such moves, citizens should embrace it and ensure it benefits our people. The more regions of the country gets developed, the better for all. Attacks by militants on Southern infrastructure did not mean we shouldn't continue building them.

Finally, Mele Kyari the GMD NNPC is from Borno State so that would have weighed heavily towards citing the gas plant in Maiduguri. Afterall, this is Nigeria where some of the decisions get driven by such considerations.

I beg to say .. there is something fundamentally wrong with this proposition.

Does Micro and Macro economics mean anything to the
people at the aim of NNPC.

Do they do business case analysis and value engineering to validate their decision.

Where is the Gas feed coming from?

NLNG in finima is well suited - OGGS (offshore Gas Gathering System - Shell + JV) feeds LNG

Afam Gas Plant in Ogbigbo well suited

Gas plant for power generation in Maiduguri - Any thought of largest African Solar Panel ( Renewable Energy).

Gas monetization is not about building Gas Plant in Maiduguri. Nigeria was so supposed to be second behind (rival) Qatar when Raslaffan was incorporated in 1993.
Qas Gas has 14 LNG trains now.. The dream of NLNG was cut short in 2007 at train 6, took over a decade to revive train 7 project.

Saudi is building the world futuristic city called Neom inviting close to $500billon. Where AI /robotics will be 100% maximized.

Nigeria leaders?

Solar power plant would have been the best considering the abundance of solar energy they have up north. Dangote didn't choose lagos to site his refinery for no reason, security matters to all these big investments, because he is private business owner, he cares about the security of such a multibillion dollars investment. If Nigerian government is a private business owner, they would have been in a massive debt and liquidated by now. Gas powered plant only takes one shot of Boko Haram bomb to go up in flames. And how do they get gas to power the plant, another unnecessary massive infrastructural spending to construct the pipelines from the south that will serve the plant at the extreme end of the north. Even the pipelines are at risk of terrorist attack and massive cost of maintenance. The wasteful spending of this government on elephant projects is a call for concern.

Oga , stop being clever by half.

Most of these investment were done by private sectors. How can you build as gas power station in a terrorists ravaged state like borno ? Have they solve the problem of Boko Haram there.

What is the borno state contributing to the treasury of Nigeria ? This project is waste of money and resources because Boko Haram boys will target it and bomb it.

The funny thing is that Northern cities of Kano Kaduna, Gombe are very well planned and structured more than oil producing states where the money with which they build Northern areas comes from.

A serious government would have taken advantage of high amount of sunshine in the North to construct solar powered energy capable of supplying electricity to the entire region.

The other time, Buhari led administration spent billions drilling oil in the North all to no avail. They think oil is what you can get in desert encroaching areas. Too bad
