biolaowo: Some schools are like that... They don't reply. And that's not cool. I am sure you even paid application fee. Your cgpa isn't bad at all. And you said your last two years' grades from undergraduate study were decent. Could it be that you have been submitting applications to some of these highly ranked schools? There's usually competition for space in these schools. I'll advise you submit an application to one highly ranked school and one school (not highly ranked) to improve your chances. 2 Likes |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Spectro: 5:43pm On Apr 10, 2021 |
biolaowo: Try out another university that is suitable for you, but is likely to have lower competition for space. And try out another university that isn't any of those stated, and establish a rapport (occasional enquiries) with the person assigned to you by the admission committee to keep you informed about things they need you to submit... All the schools I sent applications to, there was always a school representative I could email. I always received feedback from them. |

TennieYF: It's confirmation of investment. If your fund is with Stanbic Asset Management, just put a call through to request for a confirmation on your investment for Visa purpose. It will cost you 2k and TAT is 48hours. |

marcelonwa: From his expression, he has decent grades, and universities may not be out of reach for him. He can still send applications to one or two universities if he is not too concerned about rankings. He still has some good chances. 1 Like |

defrik: She should also do affidavit of support and have it stamped at the court ,You’d also state how you’re related in your own letter of sponsorship .She should also send scanned copy of her passport and birth certificate .If she’s not married yet or has children you can state this I don’t know if it helps tho but I did state it .Then proof of relationship if you have any pictures you took with her or anything to show you both communicate well .I hope this helps .I forgot to add bank statement or bank draft tho I used both .If she can provide it .The bank draft my aunt got was four months bank draft tho depends on the size so it won’t affect when you want to upload your documents 1 Like |

Dear all, thanks everyone and all the gurus in the house, taking out time to respond to questions. I submitted my application on the 23th March, went for my biometrics on the 30th. I received NSE request same 30th and today I tried uploading the documents. At the point of submitting the doc,it requested payment info and I got confused. Someone should kindly clarify the meaning of that cos I couldn't continue. Am I expected to pay some kind of fee after the initial 235Cad? Please help!!! |

biolaowo: Important question since you are in Engineering. -What are you applying for, MSC or MENG? If Msc, let people review your sop, and be sure it matches the ongoing research within the department. If its MEng, with this your GPA you should at least get one school if you’re doing things right. |

biolaowo:That's serious I would suggest you try the cold mail approach (i.e mailing a Professor whose research interests/areas aligns with yours, most especially research areas you have prior research experience in). If a Prof. accepts you after sending your cold mail to him, you are good to go, you can be sure if you pay application for this, your money is well spent, infact there are chances application fee can be waived for you. The link I posted initially have information about COLD MAIL & how you can draft one. See the link below, you would see other Universities offering Masters in Chemical Engineering in Canada https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Chemical+Engineering&program_level_merged=Master%27s+degree&program_language=ENGLISH Alternatively, Try USA (as mentioned above by an honorable member), they have lot of Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Masters program that are Fully-funded, you can also get Graduate Assistantship, Teaching Assistantship etc. Infact with your CGPA, if you package your application well, you can get a direct PHD program with your BSC in the U.S, al The Cold Mail approach is also very essential in getting Funding for USA You can visit the USA Visa Thread on Nairaland for more enquiries and guides You can AWAIT More inputs from the gurus & honorable members on this... 1 Like |

Lekiboboe: Bro, what would you advise I do? I have been accepted for graduate program in Economics by two universities. One is giving me scholarship and GA, but it's in the US One is not providing me full-funding but it's in Canada (just 30% funding) I have no problem with paying tuition in Canada, but who doesn't like Awoof? Canada's citizenship package makes sense. If you had to choose with these conditions, which would you take? 2 Likes |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Lekiboboe: 10:51pm On Apr 10, 2021 |
Spectro:In my own opinion, this can be looked at in different perspectives, but in a nutshell, I feel it depends on ones choice, present financial status & long term goals. Someone who got Full Funding in the US for a GA (e.g MS Assistantship, PHD Assistantship) can finish & do a PHD in Canada (with 70-80% chances of it being funded) and still work towards the Canadian Citizenship goals. In your own scenerio, since money no be problem (in Sarkordie's Voice) and Canada Citizenship is the goal, you can go for CANADA (with the 30% funding). It will be better if its a PHD cos many PHD students are potential/automatic graduate assistant to the Prof. they are working with, most esp. if it's an Economics graduate program that requires you to get a Supervisor (Professor). Like I said initially, those 3-factors mentioned above can be a determinant to ones choice/decision on this. Let me tell you a real life example There is one Amazing Scholar on twitter who dish out anything scholarship and how to get one in different parts of the world, he goes by the handle @drolumuyiwa, he is presently a Post Doc at the Mycology/Microbiology Dept. Of UBC. He did his Masters in Korea (KGSP Scholarship), did his PHD in Germany (I think via DAAD), now at UBC as a PostDoc, if am not mistaken, he is now a PR or on the verge of becoming a PR. You can notice he had international education in two different Continents (Asia & Europe), before coming to Canada (North America). With wetin this Bros do, No be lie, Canada Citizenship package is fantabolous, las las that would likely be the end product of someone who go US go study. My Conclusion, I will go for the US cos it will make me acquire Work Experience as a GA which is Post-secondary teaching and research assistants under NOC A, but schooling in Canada might not afford me to do a Job that can count as a work experience to gain points for Express Entry, most especially if it's not a NOC A, B job, as per say na part time job to pay bills Canada dey offer most international students and many of them no be NOC A,B jobs. This your question is an interesting one, I go like see more contribution/inputs of other members on top this matter 6 Likes |

I greet all the gurus in the house. Please what's the implication of getting a 1year pgwp for a graduate certificate course and a 3year pgwp for a 2year diploma course in a college for someone that intends to apply for PR in the future? Please help to respond urgently. Thanks |
