Yekini was a force of nature. A relentless train that wouldn't be stopped until he had found the back of the net.

Yekini did not have the explosive pace of Martins or Aghahowa, The raw power of Amokachi, Yakubu or Emenike, The guile and trickery of Siasia, Kanu and Ike Uche. What stood him out for me was his passion and drive to score, from powerful golazos to intelligent use of space Rashidi was simply awesome.

I see a lot of that similar drive and determination in Osimhen. One of the reasons why I'm so supportive of the boy. hope he can leave up to the expectation.

TheSuperNerd:
No Dad. Don't get it twisted. This is not an Osimhen-Yekini comparison. It is only a post testifying to the Ultimate Greatness of the Goals Lord and the most complete striker of the 90s, Yekini and speaking of a young lad who could go on to rekindle such glorious moments in the National team colours in the same attacking role.
Also made reference to the "Fire" and "Fearlessness" present in both Strikers. The Legend and the Lad.

Osimhen, The Lad, is still growing. So no comparisons at all.

Meanwhile... I didn't enjoy the huge privilege to see Prime Yekini live. But I am thankful for Video technology. Lol. What a player. What a legend. The True Super Striker.

Ok, good you see it from this angle.

Osimhen too has been tipped for greatness.

I was expecting Rodgers to take him off around 70mins as he usually does. For now kels is their main source of goals not Vardy
How can you take off off a striker while you are hunting for goals? No serious coach will do that

Everybody have their opinion but i can beat my chest that idena doesnt like Aribo

No sane person will take a mikel agu over aribo, even chriskels thats not a fan of aribo wont do that

When Agu was playing week in week out Rohr ignored him just like he did with Onyekuru who every "sane" person knows merited to be in the team abead of Moses Simeon. If it wasn't for the fact that Iwobi was down and Kalu and Simon weren't available we would never know what Onyekuru could bring to the team. And , you think you are sensible ?

Even , against the friendly with Algeria Rohr ignored Agu and the U17 boy who were natural midfield operators and pushed his English loving Ajayi who made a mess. It was not until the game was literally lost that he introduced Agu and the little boy to go kill themselves, which is typical of European coaches....abeg , ffuck Rohr a million time!

Now , since Aribo started playing for Nigeria what is the impact he has made on the team, so far ? I put it to you that the only reason Aribo is playing for Nigeria is based on his English privilege , which Rohr has no problem validating. Rohr has never given Agu a clear opportunity to prove himself simply because he has no confidence in his talent. Of course , we all know you have a loose nut in your brain , hence your penchant to make careless utterances.

The only match Agu was given a bit of chance was against Zambia in the world cup qualifiers and he played excellently. I will never rate Aribo ahead of Agu because I know Agu has more talent just like I will not put Aina ahead of Awaziem.

Thankfully, Rohr will soon leave and all these foreign born otu will get a reality check.

Called The "GoalsFather" and Ye-KING for great reasons.

Rashidi Yekini.... Ahhhh... Clips of him remain as legendary as they come. I will post some here for Flashback sake even though it's still Monday and not Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday. grin

This is HIM doing it against Real Madrid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XLtCe3_--M

This is HIM vs Zambia at the Afcon Final '94. Check out AGAIN his thunder of a freekick at 1:55.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaAG2JbT9QI

This is HIM in different shades doing his thing...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I_stOkYuxw

Yekini clips are clips I feed myself with whenever I feel the inspiration around what Nigeria is currently witnessing concerning the League of Extraordinary Hitmen. His Power, his speed, his strides, his technique, his accuracy, his fearlessness, His aerial command, etc...The MOST COMPLETE STRIKER OF HIS TIME.

Yekini is the man we want our Number 1 Striker, Victor Osimhen to surpass at all levels. There's Weah too, Eto'o fils and Drogba. Striker legends we want our forwards to match or even surpass. Yekini belongs to this Class of Striking Greats plus na him be their Papa.
Most North African English speaking fans I encounter in football never fail to make mention of Yekini's greatness from the Golden Generation of Nigerian football in the 90s. That's how much his Greatness still speaks to this day.

Yekini, the greatest striker Nigeria have ever had and one of the best Africa ever produced and the world ever saw.

The fires and hunger for greatness in Yekini seen those days by "my ancestors" live in his reign as the Super Eagles' Undisputed Number 9 and which I have been privileged to see via clips and full videos of Yekini's times as a World Class Super Striker...... I gotta say I see same in the lad Victor Osimhen. And it's no coincidence Osimhen and the other strikers making their marks like Onuachu, Iheanacho, Simy, Moffi, SADIQ, etc belong to the new Generation that could become Nigeria's Next(Second) Golden Generation making good reference to the First and the Only Golden Generation we have seen so far in Naija football.

I was a new born baby during our First Golden Generation in the 90s.
But now, I am a young adult and witnessing the rise of our Second/Next Golden Generation.
So shall it be... cool

Always a special place in my heart for Yekini. I will never forget him lobbing the ball over Gabon's goalkeeper and scoring with his head at the Tunisia AFCON. That singular goal is where my love for football developed from, it was poetry in motion to me

But osimhen is fast becoming a nightmarishly monsterous player..
Victor, Ndidi, and Nacho have what it takes to bring home the Afcon..3rd place is a failure to me

How would you rate the genesis of these two eras?

First Era: - Yakubu, Martins, Utaka, Osaze and Ike Uche

Second Era: - Osimhen, Iheanacho, Onuachu, Simmy and Sadiq

Notabien: Judgement should be based on how the two eras kicked off, put it into considerations the different abilities of each players in the respective eras in the eagles, and the quality of clubs they started off with

No ooo I should have even added his report card and birth certificate put grin

So u are saying an U17 player being signed by a club in the top division of the country is not news worthy I have seen countless of young players posted on here without a scouting report or anything, just that they have been signed by so and so club.

So what is your real issue with the post I made?

Okay, his extreme youth is what you consider newsworthy, now I get it. No wahala, na wetin you for talk since be this na.

O boy Kai this one go be long debate o

Chris baba, only Osimehn and Iheanacho can compete with the first era but I still rate Osimehn as number one in rating individual player in both era based on his different abilities as a striker cos he is a perfect replacement for Rashidi Yekini.

I thought that first goal was an Onuachu assist. We tend to overlook his assists and involvements in other goals scored by his team mates, for the simple reason that he scores with reckless abandon grin

See first time crossing, Chukwueze would never do that

The first era had tremendous support from fans both at their respective club side and here at home.

Just like Chief Kog, I rate Osimhen above them all.

First of all, I do not understand the officiating @Napoli vs juve.. Napoli should have gotten 2 Penalties. Juventus defenders were evidently pulling Osimhen down in and outside the box

Andy let's be realistic yes we have a decent group of players but do we have the kind of depth teams like

Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, England have?

and I never mention Croatia, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia oh!

2nd round with our current squad of players is a realistic target. with inspiration and luck maybe quarters but that's about it.
