Did you know that in a Nigeria / Ghana combined 11, only Thomas Partey would be making the team?

Agreed without making any research

I am surprised you didn't even throw the name Nwakali at him as a strong possible for that role in the near future based on his very strong recent showings as CM for Alcocorn.

ChrisKels:

You sabi ball, but if we had a better coach to tinker the team, we could make good use of our strength(forward) to achieve good results. No one has it all, after all

DABIGATRAN:
There are still quality players in the Nigerian league that can represent the country at the AFCON or the World Cup and hold their own against formidable opposition.
Whether you like it or not, guys here that are passionate about the local league will still continue to highlight the potentials of promising players worthy of call-ups.
If you are well grounded in the history of tournaments like the World Cup or AFCON, you should know that carting home the trophy takes much more than assembling a star-studded squad. Oftentimes people tend to appreciate the quality in a team after they must have won the trophy.
Tell me who ever tipped Italy to win the 2006 world cup or Cameroon to win the 2017 AFCON?
When Stephen Keshi announced his squad for the 2013 AFCON with some local players and a handful of unheralded foreign-based players in the list, was he not totally written off?
I'm sorry if you do not want to entertain the idea of having an Anayo Iwuala in the team for whatever reason best known to you, but I like the quality and confidence he exuded during his brief adventure on the pitch and I believe most people here want to see more of him in the national team.

They have to first of all dominate the Chan, wafu, caf club competitions before they should think of earning such chance

To me the cry for their inclusion in the current eagles set up is born out of sentiment. The national team is meant to comprise of the cream de la cream every nation can boast of and any player who gets such opportunity got it out of merit not sentiment

We have way too decent players in top leagues in Europe for us to ignore them just to accommodate players frm the local scene

My Analysis on Nigeria(most west african teams and the world cup). I hope it makes sense.

A west African team not winning a world cup yet, or not getting to the semis of the world cup yet, has always been because of one particular "factor" in my opinion, I would break this down, and I hope someone in NFF reads this.

Now I believe there are 3 "t's" to a team game play in a game of football, mostly in cup competitions, and they are Talent, Tactics and Technique.

Is Talent the issue?
Well I boldly say nigeria has the talents to win any world cup game, against any team, even if south American and European teams have a better edge man for man, we have the talents to beat them, talent has never been the issue, so we rule out the first "T" = Talent, most major west African countries have talents, but talent alone can never win you a competition like the FIFA World Cup, let's start getting it right, because we are deluded to think it's been our talent all this while, no it's not the issue.. moving on

Is Tatic the issue?
Well again, even the every day gbogbotibo, monkey post players and coaches on the street can draw up a good tactic for a game of football, 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-4-3, fixing players in position, is never, and has never been the issue for West African teams, so clearly tactics is not the problem...

Is technique the issue?
A big yes, over the years, having watched so many senior FIFA competitions, I put it to you, that technical play, technical analysis, technical application of role, positioning, timing, player knowledge, which are all on under Technique to win a game has always been the issue for Nigeria and most west africa teams... we don't ever get it right, simple things like having knowledge of a team character, our opponents play at every single point of the game, what they do at 10min, 20 min, last 5 min, when they seem to raise their tempo, who they build their attacks with, how they move their football around the pitch, their players characteristics and temperament, does a particular player dribbles in field all the time?, does a player switch play with cross field passes? does this particular players like to play a one-two? does this particular player like shooting from the particular point? does this defender always like passing back or side ways? or lobbing the ball? who are they likely to sub in? and how does their sub impact their play? does this player like to move to the by-line or dribble left? right? or pass, and a lot more of this technicalities. We are very lazy mentally, and that's why we always loose to this top European and South American teams, most of the times, they know our teams technically more than our coaches and players. It's not magic that they always know what our players are going to do at particular periods, and render them incompetent.

West African teams need to do better technically and mentally, than to keep relying on talents, vibes and isha Allah to win games at the FIFA world...
And about northern African countries, they don't have "physicality" which is a talent, they try technically, but they are not up there technically too, they better than most West African countries technically though...

I boldly say, all a West African powerhouse has to do is get the technicality of the game right, and a west African team will win the world cup...

Oga... Like I said... Free yourself of your hate first. You have made it clear times without number how much you detest the lad so anything from you now as regards Nwakali is not gonna be balanced as you haven't even watched him once in La Liga Smartbank. I mean... Are you even watching him now? Ofcos not.

Now to whether he is ready now. I will say NO bcoz I need him to show same consistency till season end and also hopefully return to Topflight football. But if we are gonna be capping Ejaria from The Championship?? Then what is wrong in looking at Nwakali from La Liga Smartbank if he keeps this up??
Now, could he be the answer in the future based on what he is doing now and his huge potentials in the middle? Big YES!!!

He is a strong possible for that CM Enforcer role and has been Alcocorn's best player since he joined them. His defensive game has also stepped up since he joined Alcocorn. He is very progressive with the ball and makes key passes almost every game. He has taken the ball and beat opponents on solo runs on a few occasions this season that has seen Spanish Journos talk him up till now.
And not only is he progressive, he is also quite adept now at defending and blocking passing lanes. Lad is literally Alcocorn's midfield enforcer. Go check his heatmaps and see for yourself.

So no be just talk when I tell you that Nwakali is a strong possible. I speak based on what I have seen from all his games and how much he has really improved. Lad is working so hard and I hope someday, you will drop your previous hate for the lad and see the light.

Gotta get back to the games. wink

If Ejaria remains in the Championship and get capped. Then it is fair to say that Nwakali will also deserve his chance from La Liga Smartbank if he keeps producing the goods as he does now.

I will drop my pen here. Time will Tell.

I do think we underestimate our midfield and defense a lot.
The Aribo that played Brazil and Ukraine can compete with any midfielder in his position in Africa. Speed, Elegance, Skills, and Scoring!
Playing on the Africa bad pitches is the only challenge for Aribo.
Ndidi, Aribo, and Nacho/Iwobi midfield triangle is second to none in Africa and one of the best in the world on current form!
Balogun/Ajayi, Ekong/Akpoguna, Ebuehi/Awaziem, Sanusi/Aina, please tell me a country with better depth in Africa.
Had it been Mikel and Kalu were fit at the 2019 AFCON, we would have won it with ease!

Just see the angle below. Beautifully weighted freekick strike. Apart from the freekick he had been balling really heavily good tonight. No hypes.

I just hope he keeps this new found rebirth going. It is looking like the season for the rebirths of the Kelechis. Iheanacho and now Nwakali. And both are freekick specialists.

First of all, I said Akpoguma could be just as better or at par with them. Chriskels can show you the screenshot. And I rate Akpoguma over Boly at LCB and RCB and I had the stats attributes to back it up.

Now to Nwakali... The one you are desperately trying to evade... grin

The guy Nwakali just carried dust and spat it on your face. He topped up his Midfield Enforcer (Central midfield) display today with a World class Freekick Goal.

I have been proven here to be right a countless times on our lads, from Osimhen to Iheanacho and to many others. I don't talk much about a talent unless I have watched him extensively and used the gift of analytical foresight to project how huge a certain talent's potentials are.

So biko... You dey try for football analysese but you need to go learn more. Goan learn more and rid yourself of your Nwakali hate, Charlesemeka... It limits your Understanding of the game concerning certain talents.

Ciao... cool
