Work on Lagos-Calabar railway to start this year- Min. Amaechi Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi says work on the proposed Lagos-Calabar railway will commence before the end of 2021. Amaechi disclosed this on Friday in Calabar while delivering the 34th Convocation Lecture of the University of Calabar with the topic: “The National Question and the Challenges of Nationhood in Nigeria”. He said that President Muhammadu Buhari led administration was committed to massive infrastructural development across the country. Amaechi explained that the objective was to ease movement across the country and by extension enhance national integration. “In a few weeks from now, we are going to sign the loan agreement for the commencement of that project and before the end of the year, contractors will move to site. “ The President Buhari administration has embarked on railway construction and rehabilitation from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri, from Ibadan to Kano and from Abuja to Kauran Namoda among others. “We are also renewing the Lord Lugard railway line that has been out of effective service for decades,” he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/work-on-lagos-calabar-railway-to-start-this-year-amaechi/ 3 Likes 1 Share |

Winnerforever: SHUT UP. This was the same way the govt promised they would build/complete the Lagos-Ibadan line, Warri - Ajaokuta-Itakpe line, and Abuja-Kaduna line, and demons like you rubbished it, saying it was ''all talk and no action''. Now those lines have all been completed in record time, and are functioning perfectly today, and you kept quiet. Only to come out again with your demonic pronouncement this time. Go back under the rock you crawled out of. Nobody wants your nasty, negative opinion. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Rossikki: Shameless liar. It has not been completed. “ Lamenting that the speed of work has reduced, he said, “We agreed with them that we will commission this April, but who will commission an uncompleted project.” https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/04/11/lagos-ibadan-rail-again-amaechi-slams-contractors-for-slow-pace-of-work/ 3 Likes 1 Share |

Rossikki: Well, let’s hope they build it, it will benefit all and sundry. Winnerforever: There is nothing like ''hope''. The contract has been signed, money has changed hands, and the project is ongoing as we speak. So there's nothing like ''hope'' involved. It's just about waiting for completion. Plus that Lagos-Ibadan high speed line is just the first phase of a line that will go all the way to Kano. Meanwhile : Your link and your headline are totally different. Kindly stop misleading people. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Winnerforever: The delay was NOT the fault of the Nigerian government. Here is the timeline: ...... In September 2014, Federal Ministry of Transport signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of a new railway line with Lagos and Calabar governments. On November 12, 2014, the project received no objection certificate from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP). On November 21, 2014, FMoT signed an agreement to build the Lagos to Calabar railway line with China Railway Construction Corp. Ltd. (CRCC) at the cost of US$11.2 billion. In February 2016, Exim Bank of China agreed to finance a part of the project. In April 2017, the Government of Nigeria approved the project plans and announced that it is finalizing a binding deal. In September 2017, CRCC expressed their inability to fund the Lagos-Calabar rail project. The project [was] moving slow pace due to delay in obtaining finance. Presently, FMoT is in negotiations with the private investors to secure funding. Scope The project involves the construction of a 1,402km railway line between Lagos and Calabar in Nigeria. .......... https://www.marketresearch.com/Timetric-v3917/FMoT-Lagos-Calabar-Railway-Line-11419922/ |

optionalY09: Yoruba people gained more from Buhari presidency than previous administrations since 1960 combined. Yoruba people are the largest beneficiary of FG budget since 2015. We'll cross that bridge when we get there, but today is not that day and definitely not because of some foolish and misguided elements. |

Winnerforever: YES IT HAS BEEN COMPLETED. Those were the various connecting train stations that were being referred to in your link, not the actual line which has been 100% completed between Lagos and Ibadan, and passengers have been travelling from Lagos to Ibadan and back on the line for the past 3 months!!!! |

plaindealer: Bros ! journey mercies on your trip to the land of perpetual inferno ! so you call the grass cutting and building of train stations "completion", I actually blame GEJ for taking his eyes off the ball at crucial times.........however if there is any positive aspect of this Buhari regime is his determination to commission and complete both OBJ and GEJ projects.........like 2nd Niger bridge, oweto bridge,Abuja/Kaduna rail, Abuja rail transit, new airport terminals etc..................am yet to see any project that Buhari has initiatedand completed o! |
