This is disingenuous by from Lalong and his fellow governor's. The issue is not just an executive order. Judicial autonomy is a constitutional provision. Specifically, section 81(3)of the constitution provides for this.

It was precisely because Governors have refused to implement the constitution, is the reason the Buhari government passed the executive orders. Kudos to them.

Judiciary autonomy is essential to judicial independence. The judiciary is starved of funds and have to rely on State Governors for needed funds. The judiciary is not an appendage of the executive but a separate arm of government. Our governor's like the current state where they act as kings buying cars for judicial officers and dispensing patronage to curry judicial favour. This is not how it should be. They certainly do not understand democracy. An independent, financial autonomous judiciary is one of the bedrocks of a robust democracy.

Order 10 would have worked in Russia, but since in Nigeria, corrupt politicians will outmaneuver the weakness of democracy to their advantage, Democracy has a lot of weakness and this governors are well read and know when to use constitution and separation of power of the state from the FG to their advantage, the know how to beat around constitution when it comes to protecting thier corruption activities, they get sense wen it comes to corruption enthronement!

They are against it because when the Judiciary and the legislative are autonomous, their allegiance would no longer be to the Governors.
but to the FG who may then be in Abuja and control the state through the same corrupt ways the governors has been doing it. Bro we take side if there is any better person between FG and the governors but they are only on their selfish interest, so we unite and leave them fight their fight. The worst hoodlums in the country today are our losers sorry leaders

You have a valid point... the Governors then become puppets in their states as the FG can machine the legislators to impeach a Governor.

But don't you think the people stand to gain as the peoples attention would always be sort to gain acceptance of various motives?

These governors are greedy.
There must be autonomy for Judiciary, Legislation and Local Government for this nation to see light.

My broda, i wonder how some people function in real life. I am not a supporter of Buhari's second term, however, this is one of his major achievements that we all need to support and push for a better Nigeria. Guess what, these greedy Governors will always fight this. Imagine how our democracy will be if the Judiciary and State legislatures have their own autonomy.

Since the Federal government wants the judiciaries and state assembly to be autonomous, then it is high time the Federal police becomes autonomous as well..

The governors want a level of control too,the presidency is about to take away the legislatures and judiciaries the Governor's controls and want to keep the police system to her control as well...

Give the Governor's state police and then they will give autonomy to these two institutions...

I wish it's all about ranting here. They'll still come to agree behind you and I when they cannot find a common ground for the case to sail.

GEJ just said ballot should decide winner not the law court

Abaribe sponsored a Bill on military appointment to be rested on the Assembly or so, rubber stamp senate pres nor let am land before he cancel am

Out of 37 commissioners only one is from the East, meaning the North is commissioners in the North and in the South

Now wearing hijab by female military officers is about to be passed to law but of what importance is it to us or they just want to remind us that Nigeria belongs to them

Nigeria= North
Presidency = North
Judiciary will surely submit to the Presidency (which is the North)

The governor's from South are not from the North, not voted in by the North, yet they're more willingly submissive to the North than their people

Imagine when their powers are taken away by separating the Judiciary from them then other regions are doomed

Soon the Northern governors will accept since it's coming from their leader

We're just wasting our time analysing after all it's not for us abeg

None of their agenda is meant for us, it's always about them, their families and their immunity

Even if they separate, Ghana-must-go bags and bullion vans will still keep the judiciary under the state
