Good morning everyone, A friend is trying to bring his partner as a dependant, he's currently a student. The problem is they are not married yet, they were supposed to get married before he traveled last year (this can be confirmed from ministry of affairs tho) and due to the issues surrounding traveling, its becoming difficult for him to travel to nigeria. Have anyone tried bringing an unmarried partner as a dependant before? Apart from pictures, what can be proof of living together in Nigeria? Thanks. Ps: the other factors are met and considered. only worry is the proof of living together. |

mihkehl: A shared child/children would be the ultimate in such a case. You didn't mention any children so I assume there aren't any. He will have to go through the whole process of printing out call logs, WhatsApp chats, SMS, emails whatever to prove there has been an ongoing relationship and cohabitation for at least 2 years while he was in Nigeria. Backed up with things like proof of having the same address, evidence of contributions like for support, etc. I appreciate travelling to and fro will cost money and effort, but a quick flight back to marry the partner would actually give the most certainty. If all the court registries are booked out for his travel period (and it doesn't have to be Ikoyi or one of the in-demand registries depending on where the lady is), a traditional ceremony will suffice. |

Thank you. Chats are available. Receipts/tenancy agreement could be made available too. In the new development, traveling for wedding is not a genuine reason to travel outside anymore and yo can be fined up to 5,000GBP. Thanks once again. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Cyberknight: 9:48am On Apr 14, 2021 |
mihkehl: Receipts/tenancy agreement in both names will be very good. If she has any official documentation bearing the address (driver's licence, Voter ID card, that sort of thing), it should be included to back up, anyone can write a tenancy agreement. I'm well aware of the travel restrictions in the UK, but they won't last forever, the Brits want to go on holiday and there's talk of lifting them by middle of May or ultimately in June. I do believe your friend and his partner can exist apart for another 2 months or so without pining excessively, so that's why I suggested his return to marry as a feasible option. |

Hope we all are doing well? Am currently about to submit my wife's dependent visa application as am on a Tier 2 visa and I need your take on what we have done so far to proof financial/maintenance requirement: 1. I Work for an 'A' sponsor company, so submitting my three months payslip since am paid above £30k per annum 2. Submitting my and her three month bank statement 3. Saved up at least £1k in my account and £1k equivalent in her account in Nigeria for 28 days which will reflect in the bank statement. 4. Also submitting my COS even though it doesn't reflect her maintenance on it, just cover basis. Please guys your advice and suggestions will go a long way, just want to be sure am on the right track to avoid stories that touch. Thanks |

Good morning house. Please I have a friend who just got a job in the UK to start on May 1, 2021 but he has been given April 28 for tuberculosis test in Lagos. He also want to get some documents from his university which will take up to 2weeks so it might take him till first week of May before having his biometrics. Hope this won't affect his application for visa considering the fact that his job is starting on May 1. Though he already explained this to his sponsor. Thank you. |

Hello Gurus in the house. A friend just got refused 2years UK visit visit visa. As seen in the letter, the ECO claimed he doesn't have enough fund to finance the trip. This is somebody that athached a valid return Turkish airline ticket that he bought last year but couldn't travel because of Pandemic. He works with a Multinational and has a closing balance of almost 3m in his salary acct as the time he apllied. Pls can he write to be reconsidered as I don't believe the ECO did justice to his application? He previously had 6months wc he didn't use because of Pandemic.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by iyatrustee(f): 4:24pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
seyola: Many at times, we shoot ourselves in the leg with some bogus financial claims. 1st he earns 5mil as extra income from being self employed. 2 he earns another 5mil from yearly pensions which the ECO says he doesn't see evidence of from the statement provided. Also, I am assuming he did not attach his leave approval letter which justifies why there is question of how he will spend 10days isolating alongside his proposed 14days vacation bringing a total of 24days absence from his employment. 2 Likes |

You are required to show you have an English language ability of at least level B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages in all four components. The English Language test result you provided shows you have not met the required level of B1 in two of the four components of the test (reading and writing). You must obtain level B1 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening). After a discussion with an Entry Clearance Manager, I have chosen not to contact you for further evidence as I am satisfied from the evidence submitted that you do not meet the requirements to be awarded 10 points for the English language requirement and therefore I have only awarded you 60 points out of 70 points in total. But i was told to do IELTS B1 listening and speaking which i did to be eligible for a working visa in health sector Right now which of the IELTS UKVI B1 would i do that entail (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Thanks. |

hammedkazeem: 1.Demonstrate enough tie to your country of residence, your job and your family are good ties but if you can look for more. 2. Demonstrate you have financially capability to sponsor yourself for the trip I.e good salary and enough account balance avoid depositing unexplained lump sum. 3. Do you have a good travel history if you do it will help. 1 Like |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Fisherlala: 9:14pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
seyola: I will cut the long story short and tell you why he was refused he applied at the wrong time, imagine he is going to the UK to spend 14 days and out of the 14 days he would be self isolating for 10 days making him have just 4 days to move around, that’s a very awkward and suspicious travel plans. The remaining reasons written on the letter is just English. 3 Likes |

Captaincool1:told by who? Then u might want to also ask them what test to get clarity. I believe if you have a sponsor, that is one giving you certificate of sponsorship to come and work then they will also be in the best position to tell you the ielts u are qualified for... IELTS for UKVI (Academic and General Training and the one that assesses your ability to read, write, speak and listen... 4 components in all Speaking, listening, reading and writing must be assessed in this examination can u pls contact your job sponsor and ask them categoricaly what English test u shud take and also check www.gov.uk for all information It is the bible for all these answers you seek If you are in doubt as to which test version to take, you should contact the organisation you are applying to check their requirements. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by giselle237: 10:58pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
graceodini:he can get an earlier date.. contact any of the numbers that booked him for April 28 in lagos and plead with them concerning his circumstances and that he will like an earlier date. Numbers can be found in ur email tht sent u confirmation of test bookin The thing is your start date can change due to several reasons and he or she shud not be worried about tht.. eg if visa does not come out in time, u cnt do anythin but wait.. and therefore ones start date as written on COS will be delayed. However once visa is out u can them travel and start ur work as long as u pass pre employment checks. Also un this times of covid and compulsory 10 days isolation, let this individual remember that the 10 days isolation will also delay things too AND once again strt date as written on COS might not be exactly adhered to. |

Fisherlala:I don’t believe he was refused mainly because of the stated day he want to spend in the Uk but because of stated multiple income ...s/he should have let salary be only source of income ..... something I have notice about Uk is once dey find one reason to refuse u dey we come up with another reason to back up the first reason |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Fisherlala: 7:35am On Apr 15, 2021 |
iretiogo1: It’s because majority make up their financial status and lack evidence to back it up, It’s not a crime to have 2 or 3 sources of income even there are people in the uk with more than one source income and they understand this but the onus is on you to back it up with documents that the extra income is not made up one and make the specific money and name of the creditor reflect in your account for instance if he is getting his pension from Livingstone company they will expect living stone to reflect in his bank account.all they just want see is clearity and to understand how you make your extra funds. He also said he spends 65k monthly but his outgoing expenses monthly is more than that according to the immigration officer. but it’s very illogical to travel for 14 days only to spend 10 days in isolation. 3 Likes |

Guest911: With your dad fulfilling the financial requirement of 18,600 pounds per year in the UK you can look at family reunification and settlement visa. Under the part 8 of the uk immigration rule you can apply for child visa if you are below 18 but note if you are married and you are below 18 you will be treated as an adult.but if you are an adult I.e above 18 it could be a bit difficult check the requirements. 2 Likes |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Ashirioluwa: 1:40pm On Apr 15, 2021 |
seyola: The ECO actually scrutinized the documents submitted by your so called friend. 1. The ECO claimed that your friend expenses as shown in the bank statements are more than is income. Also his monthly expenses doesn’t tally with the statement submitted. 2. No traces of his other incomes on the statement he submitted. I believe your your friend didn’t package this application well. Ask him to include the bank statement for his other income next time. Note: A positive balance of million naira in bank account is not a guarantee that visa will be approved especially in your friend case where his statement shows that his expenses are on the high side (as per the ECO response). The main problem here is that your friend unable to show credible evidence to back up his financial status. |
