Nawaooo!
That's okay.

I suspect that they might start sending out decisions in May. Aside sending email to your advisor, have you tried sending email to your department or the person in charge of assistantship to make enquiries?

Yea the grad cord said, they're reviewing the applications for assistantship and they'll contact me soon but I'm running out of Patience

Please can a person use a pension statement like a retirement savings account statement in place of a regular bank statement for students visa at the embassy. It was accepted by the school for I-20 but I’m not certain about the embassy especially since funds in the regular bank account doesn’t cover the esteemed cost but that of the RSA does.

Ok. I guess since they have started reviewing the applications, they will soon start sending out decisions. Just exercise a little patience till month end.

Hello house. I want to go with my own bank statement showing the full amount needed for a year and not my sponsors bank statements. The funds are being transferred to me by my sponsor. Hope that's ok

Thank you. I have gotten some responses but deferring is not an option.

I am still very confused and I am getting overwhelmed already.
I am glad you are making progress. One thing I need you to know is that very few are in your position. Even the visa interview officer may not be as smart as you. So, it was the reason I said that you should keep your options opened. And I keep repeating it: whatever happens, make sure you do not miss the opportunity. If you do not take it your baby will be angry with you in future. Trust me...I know what I am saying.

You have time, and you should relax. Do the first things first. Pay SEVIS fees. Get you I-20 asap. These are the first two steps. And spend time to know how to proceed. You can use 2 weeks as to decide. As soon as you decide, pay visa fee and book for interview date. It is better yoy go early enough so you have time to prepare well and sort out yourself.

I am going to suggest that if the issue of visa for your baby or Spouse+baby is the main headache, start first with finding about getting for yourself. It is easy to get the info for that. Then, keep asking questions. If you just put getting Visas for all into the equation at the same time, you will be exhausted. Your case is rare.

Draw a flowchart of all the scenarios you have. Put in there all the answers you have. Then, keep searching for those you dont have.

The school is the only school in the USA that is giving me what I want. I learnt how to write code because of this school. I wrote a programming test before I was accepted and they are training you on programming. I will get a good internship placement after 9months. I will acquire the necessary knowledge I need and the practical experience too. Every one has their reason for wanting to go to the USA. Trust me the school is good at what they do. The school is perfect for me.
Thanks

Hello,

You don't have to explain your choice to anyone here. I am glad you got your visa. Please don't allow anyone to make you feel bad about your school. It is not easy putting in applications, looking for funding, preparing hard and getting a visa to the USA. You have done really well.

Do well and come out top of your class. Wish you success in your studies and future endeavors!

I have not heard of anyone using a pension statement for proof of funds. A pension fund, unlike fund in a bank account, is not readily accessible. You cannot withdraw your pension to pay for your school fees. As such, I will assume that you cannot use it for visa interview.

Please advise, I just got a Fully Funded US PhD scholarship Offer but I have one month to put to bed
The program is expected to start by Fall September 2021.

Please help

I don't how to go about the visa applications.

I do not know your specific concerns but based on what you shared, you have approximately 5 months between now and your program start date. (Mid-April to late-September)

First, giving birth in the US can be pretty expensive. I wouldn't know if that is covered in your funding, or you have the funds to pay that.

Secondly, your EDD is between 30-40days. Unless you are specifically flying to give birth, I wouldn't medically advise you to get on a plane now or start worrying too much about visa stuffs. Your baby needs you to be at rest.

All other things being equal, after delivery, you will still have roughly three months before your program start date. Even if you decide to wait 2 months postnatal, you can get all visa issues within one month and arrive in the US with your baby.

You should accept the offer. Focus on your baby for now, Then come back to Nairaland after delivery.

I wish you a safe and sound delivery.

Is there anyone attending Sanfransico State University or California State University East Bay. I need to sync with folks heading to these schools for Fall 2021 resumption. I have someone who was admitted to study MSc. in Business Analytics but with no funding (GRE 302, Toefl 104). From reading posts in this forum, I understand some people got funding as part of their admission package in other schools, what I don't know is if their funding discussion started prior to their admission or was automatically awarded as part of the admission package. My second concern which I'm yet a see definitive guidance on is that the sponsor we intend to use is not a very direct relative. It like an uncle from the mother's side (mother's cousin), will this raise red flags for the VO? Any informed response to these questions will be highly appreciated.

Pls if you are thinking about any type of hussle, I encourage folks to stick to things that will are legally permitted by the F1 visa rules and not violate their status. I know people do anything to survive, but that shouldn't be what you plan to rely on.

When you get to the USA and after one year come and review this comment. Experience is the best teacher

You would realise that all school like all levels are not equal .... some schools are not it at all ,especially the one building school (which are all private) and the VO knows such schools and hence those schools are more difficult to get visa with ...
This is debatable. I agree schools have levels but US citizens do not look down on any of their schools, including the unrated ones. Even for job purposes, where you graduate doesn't matter much if you can get that interview invite and impress the interviewer

Abort mission or you risk a denial. You can go with both SOA, but show only your Dad's SOA as your Sponsor (that's if it covers your deficeit).
Ikenna04:
how do I do that. Do I change my ds160 sponsor to my father? Or is there any other thing to do. I'm thinking of carrying both bank statements and telling the vo my main sponsor is my father but during my admission process I used my aunt's bank statement. Is that ok?

I disagree smiley....

getting the interview invite is a tall work for unrated schools and much easier from some school than others, and then international students have the work visa hurdle . Where you as an international student graduate from does matter to some degree

I don’t think there is any school in the US that is a red flag. The school is a private school too

You'll likely find out when you're ready to look for jobs in the US.

That isn't true at all. There is a reason everyone wants to do an MBA at Kellogs or UPenn rather than Idaho State.

Yours is a tricky situation. With a fully-funded Ph.D. offer, you have an excellent chance of getting an F1 visa, but obviously, you cannot apply for one 5 months away from your start date.

You could consider obtaining a medical visiting visa to have your baby in the US. You will clearly be back to Nigeria to apply for an F1 visa so that is your non-immigrant intent established. Worth considering if you have the opportunity to apply.

Good afternoon all. Please, is anyone going to Texas Tech this Fall? I applied for a PhD in Geosciences and all I see on my application portal is Departmental review since late January early February.

I contacted the Graduate school last month and was asked to contact my Department. I did that, the Grad coordinator replied me saying they are in the midst of review. I sent him another mail last week but he is yet to reply. I am just wondering how long the review process takes. Please, is there anyone experiencing this too as well?

Thanks while I await your responses.
