garfield1: Maybe the judgment on Ibezim was clean and neat because of it being statute barred and all that, but same can’t be said of the judgment on Imo governorship election. They least they could have done would have been to order a rerun. But that one don go... |

We dnt have independence of judiciary.Or put simly, no judiciary in this nation. The courts that have been ruling cases in favour of pdp are now turning to rule cases in favour of apc. Na thundar go fire most of the judges in this country. |

If the system was ever good, we wouldn't need court to choose who wins an election, because I wouldn't even see it as deciding only, but also choosing. All Because the judges are appointed and not elected as well. Appointed by so called leaders of the rulers. |

garfield1: Well, the thing is that after reading about the provision of the Electoral Act, that cancellation of results should only happen at polling units, I understood Supreme Court’s rationale for declaring Uzodimma winner since the votes in contention were canceled at LG collation center and not at the polling unit. The question is, how did the Local Government collation officer know what happened at the polling units since all party agents signed the results. That’s why I agree with one analyst that said it was INEC that messed the election up for Ihedioha. 2 Likes |

Kingbaba47:Who said apc had no candidate? The judge said nwosu foolishly allow himself to be nominated by two parties therefore he stands disq. It never said apc had no candidate.it said if hnwosu had remained in apc,he would be their candidate.it never affected uzodinma |
Re: Supreme Court Declares Frank Ibezim, Imo North Senator-Elect by garfield1: 11:31am On Apr 17, 2021 |
Penguin2: Honestly, most polling unit results are usually cancelled by collation officers who are not inec staffs but adhoc staffs based on inec guidelines.this usually goes unnoticed until uzodinma carefully took advantage of this law.this is how he usually wins his senatorial elections,by writing his own results and getting inec to endorse it...pdp did something similar in abia 2015 elections. 1 Like |

Re: Supreme Court Declares Frank Ibezim, Imo North Senator-Elect by garfield1: 11:46am On Apr 17, 2021 |
fergie001: The mistake was originally made by elebeke.the major plank of his case was that ibezim submitted false info to apc and he viewed the course of action to start from 13 Sept when apc submitted ibezin name instead of 3 Sept when ibezim won... He also challenged the documents submitted to inec as an afterthought and as of 23,inec had not published published list of candidates which would have activated the cause |

garfield1:Technically, he was wrong throughout, if true. It still falls on the domain of discretion... The meat of this case is just that they weren't convinced his documents were false. |

TotoGame: It's not about being outspoken politicians that are very outspoken and flamboyant like rochas we saw his performance as governor in imo. People who don't talk too much are usually strategic and achievers. Tony chukwu is from my village he is neither outspoken or flamboyant but am yet to see any politician or phylantropist in the whole imo state who can match his achievements in terms providing basic amenities like roads and empowerment for their own people. |

fergie001: Thank you my bro. You have said it all cos I was also not convinced that he forged his documents. I also Thank the Supreme Court for this judgment because this name variation of a thing was being abused by politicians. |

fergie001: Like I told you,the evidences were never convincing like that of degi.a degi's documents had different names while the document in dispute in imo is just the ssce and only the first name in dispute and the apex court had settled this.if you are saying his documents are false,it means he forged them and in forgery, you must convince the judges beyond reasonable doubts.that is waec or neco must reject the documents... Therefore the supreme court weighed it in a scale of probability and preponderance of evidence and it was 50 50 and in such a case, you go with the defendants |
Re: Supreme Court Declares Frank Ibezim, Imo North Senator-Elect by fergie001: 12:45pm On Apr 17, 2021 |
