I dont think you can deny the impact of the fans revolt though. There's no way FSG would come back to apologise to the fans if not.

2) Will each team be able to play 18 to 25 pre-season matches like was planned for the Super League? Remember that more matches means more TV revenue and more gate takings.

3) The average fan won't be as invested in a pre-season tournament as they would be interested in a truly competitive season long tournament, so ratings won't be the same.

Also, when during the off season when players are meant to be resting on vacation and then preparing for the next season do you want to fit over 100 games?
