Why is Nigeria processing time different from all these countries. Kenya and Ghana is even faster. We need help!!! Kenya, Ghana, India (7 weeks processing time as at March 23rd) while Nigeria is 52 weeks.

Please have you heard anything about ur application from IRCC. Am on my week 20 and just tired of dis waiting this is really getting to me as a lot of things is attached to it.

If you have an existing sowp or visit visa application, please send a mail for prioritizing. Several.people sent the mail from the first day they applied for their sowp and got their visa in 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
Also regarding getting approval to travel, it is better to be overprepred than underprepared. Have all the needed documents to avoid insult at the airport, including authorization to fly for sowp.
May it end in praise for us all. Amen

I thought the prioritisation mail is just for visit visa. Good to hear one can use it for sowp too... Anybody with testimony on this?

How do you mean spousal letter of explanation? Just address it to the office you are mailing the package to. If you don't have any grey areas, you may abandon doing them an LOE.

Will they able to upload results and ircc effect changes in the short time? Or is evidence of taking the medicals will be enough to show them at Airport or Portal of Entry? I have raised aweb form of enquiry but I don't know if there a other ways to communicate effectively with them. I will appreciate your suggestions

I’m sorry for the late reply; i come on Nairaland once in awhile.
It takes only a couple days for the clinic to upload ur test results to ircc but it may take ircc more than 2 weeks to update ur file cos of current workload. What I would do if i were in ur shoes is to get the medical done as quickly as possible, raise a web form to inform them and also follow up with emails & calls. You can call ircc call Center at +1 888 242 2100 call them around 1pm naija time (that’s 8am in Montreal). Make sure u hav enough airtime & be ready to provide ur application or UCI number. You can also send email to Lagos office ( they will forward ur email to the appropriate office or they will reply u with the right address to send ur email to). they may prioritise ur case to enable u fly in 2 wks.

The airlines may not allow u to board with invalid documents even if u have ur remedical receipt cos when they scan ur document it will show invalid but they dont have access to ur file to know the reason why it’s invalid.

On the contrary, you can add in your application that you are married and include your spouses’ name. It doesn’t mean you won’t apply separately for him or her (SOWP). This is straightforward and better than notifying IRCC later about a change of marital status. What you should avoid saying is that you’re travelling together to stand a better chance of approval. The spouse would be your tie to Nigeria. Something to make you return to Nigeria. You can always say you’re married if you’re married. Just provide the name of the spouse in the application, then apply for him or her when your study permit has been approved.

Also, some people apply for study permit and SOWP at the same time. It’s a bit risky and I wouldn’t advice it. But some people have been approved this way.

My SOWP was approved with my wife’s study approval letter, not even study permit. I applied immediately she was approved and we waited until my SOWP was approved after three months. My wife and I travelled together. So people should ask questions and use the best possible option. Remember that applications are never the same. What worked for A may not work for B. And PRAY. Na God dey do these things las las. No be power nor might.

Good to be back. I think this is my first time of posting on the SOWP thread. I was on student visa thread up till early in the year before school stuff got hectic.

Got study visa approved in Nov 2020 and arrived Montreal in Dec 2020 for the winter term. I am a PhD student and I just wrapped up first semester. I now have time to put together family applications - SOWP for wifey, study visa for 2 kids (7 and 12) and visit visa for 1 toddler (19-months old). I already received CAQ for the 2 kids applying for study visa. So if anyone has questions about that Quebec-specific experience, I can share my personal insights on here. Please post any such question here and tag me. I will be online throughout the summer as schedule lightens up a bit.

Q1: I have a couple of quick questions as I move forward. The list of required documents generated on the online application shows two of my kids need to upload "letter of acceptance" while both the province and CIC websites states that they are excempted from showing same document. During application for their CAQ, I used my own LOA and CAQ for that purpose. If I wanted to, I can't even get the closest thing to a LOA for them until they arrive here according to the school board website. For those who have scaled this stage on the visa application, what do I upload here?

Q2: While filling the main application, there is a question in the imm1295e pdf form - (see attached) - Question 3 about address is required but confusing. Any ideas what to put here? Remember this is Spousal Open Work Permit Application, so there is no employer yet.
