Whilst their incompetence has affected our ability to compete for major trophies, I feel in the same period we have had the necessary quality to do more in domestic cup competitions and even mount a title challenge in one or two seasons where the other big guns weren't firing on all cylinders.

I love Fergie, his time at United enabled me watch my fav team win all possible trophies; but his row with regards to the ownership of the horse (Rock of Gibraltar) which played a role in the Glazers takeover and his "no value in the market" shenanigans when we were choked by high finance interest (before loan restructuring) bleeped up the team.

Imagine we had kept Teves or bought Aguero, opted for quality players instead of Obertan, Bebe, etc. We could have been on 5/6 UCL trophies.

We will never know what would have happened if Fergie didn't sue the club's major shareholders over a horse he didn't own.

Foden is a baller, I knew man was special when he destroyed our midfield during one of them pre-season friendlies in the US when he was 17. It is cool to see his patience, unlike Sancho and others that left. Although Sancho didn't make a bad decision.

That thread is nonsense. We did not need to spend more than any other club to achieve success in those five years because we had a very good squad (plus depth). Just ask yourself why we went ahead to succeed in Europe within those five years? Got to UCL semis 4-5 times in 5-6 seasons, got to finals 3 times between 2008 and 2013. Don’t tell me it was just about Fergie’s brilliance, because we did not do well in the UCL in prior years.

The thread is nonsense. Fact is the Glazers have spent. We matched City’s spending between 2013 and 2020, with less success because City got the better manager. We’ve had several superstars come and go, also hired other ‘quality’ managers in the same period. It’s really unfair to castigate them.

I will only blame them for not doing their best to get Pep. Very few managers guarantee stability and trophies. Since they’ve missed the train, they should continue to hire and sack for success.
