Incognito403: There is no hate here neither is there prejudice. Just my annoyance at how misguided we are in this country. My point is that more emphasis should be placed on things that are beneficial to a nation; actual things that move a nation forward. Dubai is not what it is today because Emirate citizens can memorize and spit out verses of the Quran but as a result of continuous investment and research in science and technology. But in Nigeria, a mathematics first class graduate went into farming until an American university came and picked him up while in the same country, someone is rewarded with lands, heavy sums of cash and other gift items for reciting verses of the Quran or for participating in Big Brother Naija. What does this speak of to the younger generation? That these are the things they should pay more attention to because they would be rewarded. While the truth remains that these things are meaningless in the grand scheme of a country’s plan for growth and development. We sure do have our priorities wrong in this country? PS: I am neither Christian nor muslim, I believe in individual spirituality not collective religious philosophies and beliefs. 5 Likes |

iammo: With all the events happening in the world right now especially in developing countries pertaining to insecurity, terrorism, limitless corruption, e.t.c can you say religion (islam, christianity, e.t.c) has been of any use? Because developing countries are often the most religious but still the ones plagued with all sorts of troubling issues. Religion has so far shown to have nothing to do with people have and upholding a moral code. You don’t need to be religious to be a good person. You can be a good person without being religious. I live abroad, there are no bars and protectors on my doors and windows and I can sleep with my two eyes closed. Also, I have never given bribe to anyone here to get favours be it job or whatever. And these people are atheist; they don’t go to church or mosques. Yet they have a high moral code. These things can never happen in Nigeria where the people are heavily religious either falling into the Christian or Muslim divide respectively. Like I said, you don’t need to be religious to be a good person. The fact that a society is very religious is no guarantee that it would have and uphold a high moral code. 3 Likes |

KenModi: Your argument is baseless. Doing extracurricular activities doesn't stop a student from succeeding. It's you that should manage your time well. In fact, success in extra curricular activities and academic activities shows that you're good at planning and managing your time. There are many people who are excellent in their careers and memorized of the Quran. So that argument is baseless. 5 Likes |

Incognito403: So religion is now an extracurricular activity? So going to mosques on Friday and worshiping in churches on Sunday are now EXTRACURRICULAR activities? I never knew that. Thanks for validating my statement that science and technology are the MAIN activities for the growth and development of a society. So lets put more money, land and other gift items there. Shall we? |

[quote author=KenModi post=101252180]Look at the useless thing he won all those prizes for. What a shame! When we supposed to be investing in science and technology, building the younger generation and nurturing them in the things that move nations and the world forward; we are here talking about reciting verses Almighty Allah will touch you with favour, keep you happy and safe, show you love and care, bless you with good health and peace of mind inshallah. Look at you. when the BBNaija program that was created to promote senseless, nudities and rubbish are being shown, you refused to talk against it because it suits your perversive minds. Or what discoveries did you gain there? Nothing. I believe you were even one of those who contributed with SMS to the program where those jobless guys won big money and cars. Now someone won little gifts for making impact on his religion and you're here saying thrash as if you yourself with that empty brain has had any contribution to the progress of the country. You'd better stop that nonsense and find something tangible to say or keep quiet if you have nothing reasonable to talk about. |

Most southern Muslims do not have extreme views. The 10 year old is from Ikorodu in Lagos.. (not from Borno) The sheik himself is an igboro man (a very good ally of MC oluomo, IB dende, and other notable socialites in Lagos). He’s not in anyway Pantamic. The young Mustapha Adams will not grow to be like the northern miscreants you have mentioned. Pidginwhisper: |
