That is totally unacceptable in SA. We endeavor and aspire to being a country that respects rule of law. We can never normalise extra judicial killing of criminals. Yes it happens but we have institutions/ombudsman to investigate and hold the police to account.

Let me guess it's the poor in the slums who are routinely gunned down by the state and no one asks questions? What about journalists who pry too much? Are they executed as well?

So Kenya is a typical 3rd world country under that veneer of being a civilised and developing country? That doen't bode well for the future.

MTN has at least 10X more revenues than Safaricom, it's got crazy financial resources with little debt. I don't think it's backed by the Chinese, it just needs 1 or 2 Joburg banks, like Standard Bank and FNB, and it can come up with the funds easily. And it has experience in getting licenses in these former communist/war-torn countries.

I think it stands a very good chance of getting the Ethiopia license.

The police are very corrupt in kenya - white collar corrupt - sometimes they engage in crime - but generally we have managed to keep crime and terrorism down using some part of managed EJK.

Those cults and sects in Nigeria and Ghana - they will not last few months in Kenya.

We had one called Mungiki - the police extrajudicially killed 500 of them -

Unfortunately this is part of the history which we inherited from the British - who used extrajudicial killings - to deal with Kenya Armed Struggle for Independence.This has become a model to deal with insurgencies and guerilla warfare.

You cannot play by the book with terrorist's (ask US about Quantamo bay) or violent criminals.

They are religious sissies who double up as criminals. Too soft for Kenya. The life of a criminal in kenya is VERY SHORT AND BRUTISH. Rarely do they get 25 yrs. Maybe those who start crime late. I don't think you can last 3yrs in kenya as criminal.
