Let's see another example, this hall on the first picture is almost as large as this living room we have in this building. Can you see how they were able to avoid my type of beams by introducing two pillars in the middle of the hall to bear the load of the deck, because there are wall partitions upstairs over the hall, as well as room partitions on the top of our living room in this house.

Now, to avoid the introduction of these pillars inside the living room, we made reinforcements that are rigid enough to bear the load of the deck, as well as the expected load of the partitioning walls on the top of the living room, thereby eliminating the pillars.

That's why our reinforcement use was high.

My brother, we are using the Harrimax roofing tiles imported from New Zealand and he sold it to me himself at N3,550. I got another brand yesterday for N3,250 in Onitsha but I dont trust the sheets since they are chinese imports.

The square metre hasn't been settled. They gave me a quote of 715 sqm but I only bought 600 sqm (N2,130,000) we have started and I am watching to see if this will be enough because their measurements might not be accurate.

This is very smart of you, both decisions are wise. Exactly what I would have done. From the last one you did on the white pent house you should have a "guesstimate" of this one, but it seems this roof is much bigger

I noticed a lot of your roofing designs don't have vent in them to allow for air circulation and also reduce heat transfer into the house. I know the design was made by the architect and a lot of house owners are not aware of it.

This used to be a feature I always add to my roofing till people started talking about how little a difference they make in the control of room temperature. The people arguing against the use of roof vents are saying that the temperature inside the roof void could easily be regulated since there exists numerous small gaps all around the roof, around the valleys, below the ridges, and even at the joining points of roofing tiles.

Meanwhile, we have an issue to decide on here. The design of this house came with this flap from its contemporary design, my client wanted it added but I was concerned of how ugly it will look if it has to overshadow the parapet and obscure the roof, so I reduced the span and the projection of the flap so we can see the parapet.

My client here is now thinking the flap is too small, and also too close to the parapet and might affect the beauty of the parapet, he want the flap removed entirely. What do you guys think, is this flap a hit or miss?

I think this design better stays, the gap between the parapet and the flap is about 9 inches, this can be used for a lot of things, including hiding a rope light that can be shining from there in the evening and add to the beauty of the house. The flap as implant it, will have a different paint colour too, to distinguish it from the parapet in the day time.
