jantman:This one na lie! God never said I will protect you only if you pray to me. Or are you insinuating that Stephen, yes, the one who was stoned to death in the book of Acts, died because he did not pray to God for "protection"? What about James who was killed there in Jerusalem too. Did God refuse to answer th prayer Jesus Christ made on their behalf? Is that why James died the way He did? Abeg, make una stop to dey tell us these una rubbish lies! |

Toktee:I am afraid it is not an opinion. Open your Bible and read the teachings of Jesus Christ where He clearly tells you that you should not teach the doctrines and traditions(commandments) of men, what He declared were nothing but lies, by the way, in His name. Those lies heap curses on you and on those who imbibe them too since they nullify the power of God in your lives. |

Kobojunkie: Well, I still maintain my stand that that's what works for you. I wonder who will preach the gospel and expand the kingdom of God if we sit back and do nothing while we get killed because we have been commanded not to defend ourselves. I'm just thinking. |

BrainSanitizer: The question by the Op na grey area of life. Paul said as far as it depends on you be PEACEABLE with all men. Paul a lawyer by profession I am very sure understand that statement well enough to state it. The need to be PEACEABLE with all men, when it no longer depends on that person being attacked, then what happens or comes after is anybody guess. 1 Like |

Kobojunkie:oh! you're bringing out the inscribed words of Jesus Christ ahbi. okay then, Go tell the Israelites known as the country of Israel today, to stop defending themselves against hamaz and Hezbollah. Even God promised them in the book of Joshua 1:5; that to this day and till eternity, no nation shall defeat them. If you agree that God honours his words than his own name psalm 138:2, then what are you now saying. Jesus Christ came to make modifications on the old testament, but not to totally scrap it. the major modification was the ten commandments which one defending himself does not contradict. Bia Nwokem! make ya head dey ya Neck o! Do you think its everybody that you'll just easily cajole with bible verses?? |

BrainSanitizer:Let's take a look at the story in the book of Acts. After Jesus Christ, the New Covenant Law of the Kingdom of God was killed, who was left to preach His Gospel to the world? After Stephen, James and some of the other first Christians were killed, was no one left to preach the Gospel and "expand the Kingdom of God"? Don't deceive yourself thinking that you are "needed" as far as God's kingdom is concerned. P.S. There's no such thing as expanding the Kingdom of God - men have no real place in the deciding of how the Kingdom of God progresses. God and God is decision maker and ruler over His own Kingdom. If all the over 2 billion so called Christians today do not meet God's cut of mark, God will not hesitate to cast all 2 billion and counting into Hell even. God is not interested in Man's schemes but His own Will. |

charlesucheh:1. You are not an israelite, nor are you called as one that you should look to the book of Joshua for answers to what to do. 2. You are not called as a part of the Old Covenant Law of Moses which was given only to those who have the blood of Jacob flowing through their veins and for the foreigners who live in the Kingdom of Canaan. Deuteronomy 30 tells you clearly that you have nothing to do with the Old Covenant Law and were never bound to it , this by God Himself. 3. Jesus Christ did not come to change or abolish the old Covenant and He made this very fact clear to you. He came instead with a New Yoke and burden (a Covenant agreement) separate from the Old Covenant, which He declares in His teachings..new set of commandments, blessings, curses, promises, seals, etc. All separate from the Old Covenant. 4. You are called under God's New Covenant, embodied in the person of Jesus Christ, the Law in the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is the New Covenant, promised by God through His prophets, with which He has blessed the world with. And it is this New Covenant you are meant to live and instruct yourself in if indeed you intend to share in the promise that is the Kingdom of God. |

truespeak:Yes chief, I do understand the fact that they were made or could have been made in any skin color! Hell, Adam and Eve could have even been Asians. My point is mainly in the assumption I made. Please, shine some light on your last sentence especially the "subsequents" part 'cause I've never heard of 2 people of the same race giving birth to a totally different race. Please, note there's difference between race and color. A light skin black man is different from a dark/chocolate skin black man; they're same race but different skin tone. |

PrecisionFx:If you had bothered to read through the entire context, you would have noted where Jesus Christ rebuked His apostle for using that sword to defend Him too. Too many of you are pick-and-choose Christians were the teachings of Jesus Christ is concerned. And this because you still have no real understanding as to who Jesus Christ is relation to the new life you claim to have in Him. |

PrecisionFx:Jesus Christ calls you to die to self... that very survival instinct, you are called to rid yourself of it, if you want to become a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the New Covenant Himself, Law in the Kingdom of God, declared that it is a sin to fight back or defend yourself.

Kobojunkie:Don't tell me what I'm called to do. I don't know the kind of doctrine you're imbibed to, But I am of the enlightenment school of thought and spiritual confidence. whether you like it or not, the old testament is still in working today because there are vital parts of it which we Christians cannot just jettison. like I said, until you tell me where defending one's self contradicts the ten commandments of our saviour Jesus Christ, you will still not be communicating. |

Kobojunkie: Don't go beyond what is written Oga Kobojunkiee. You were saying Jesus stated it absolutely that self defense is a sin. You cannot provide a scripture that states so. How does my stand in anyway show I am not obeying his commandments? |
Re: Is It A Sin For A Christian To Fight Back As A Self Defense? by Kobojunkie: 3:52pm On May 02, 2021 |
charlesucheh:1. Actually, there are in fact 613 commandments, not 10, in the Old Covenant Law of Moses. The details of the Law is found written of in the Books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. 2. In Deuteronomy 30, God ratifies the Law, with all 613 commandments in It with the Chidren of Israel for the Kingdom of Canaan, declaring that only those of them who obey Him will reap the promises declared as part of that agreement. 3. Jesus Christ, the New Covenant, comes instead with. New agreement which contains about 50-something commandments and He, Jesus Christ declares that if you love Him, you will keep His commandments. 4. Jesus Christ, the New Covenant Himself, Law in the Kingdom of God, declared that it is a sin to fight back or defend yourself.

charlesucheh: The scripture he cited states at the end Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. How are we perfect like our heavenly father when his enemies touches the apple of his eyes? He should understand this life no be black and white. |

achorladey:I did provide you scriptural evidence of what Jesus Christ, the New Covenant Law of God, commands that you do in this case. However, you choose to ignore Him, clinging instead to the idea that there exists a gray area of some sort, declaring that Jesus Christ lied when He proclaimed by His Truth(the Law) that there isn't any such. |
Re: Is It A Sin For A Christian To Fight Back As A Self Defense? by Kobojunkie: 4:01pm On May 02, 2021 |
achorladey:1. You are made perfect/Holy/Without sin when you chose to obey the commandment of God. 2. Sin is disobedience of the commandments of God and those who refuse to obey His commandments are said to live in iniquity. 3. The opposite of sin is faith, the choice made to submit to and obey the commandments of God, in this case, Jesus Christ and by so doing, one is able to overcome slavery to sin and be made a son of God. Read john 8 4. Those who are become Sons of God are made perfect and they are those who God's righteousness is for. The disciples of Jesus Christ were able to become perfect. Stephen, the one who died in the book of Acts was able to attain this perfection. So why can't you? |

Kobojunkie: I did provide you scriptural evidence of what Jesus Christ, the New Covenant Law of God, commands that you do in this case. Yes you provided what Christ asked us to do in such case. What you have not provided is where Jesus said absolutely it is a SIN to SELF DEFENSE. That is what I am looking for. However, you choose to ignore Him No I didn't clinging instead to the idea that there exists a gray area of some sort, I am showing where in the conclusion of that same verse Jesus said we must be perfect like our heavenly father. How do our heavenly father do that in years past about attack on those that are apple of his eyes. declaring that Jesus Christ lied when He proclaimed by His Truth(the Law) that there isn't any such You have to show where I said Jesus lied too. |

Re: Is It A Sin For A Christian To Fight Back As A Self Defense? by Kobojunkie: 4:15pm On May 02, 2021 |
achorladey:1. Jesus Christ is the absolute Truth of God. So what Jesus Christ commands that you do is what God declares that you must do. 2. God is God of Laws and Jesus Christ is God's Law to you as far as the Kingdom of God is concerned. So when you obey the teachings/commandments of Jesus Christ, you obey God. 3. Sin is disobedience of God's Law. So when you refuse to obey what Jesus Christ has said, even in this case, you commit sin against God. 4. What that then means is that when Jesus Christ says you should not defend yourself , but you proceed to do otherwise, you commit sin against God Himself. 5. These teachings that constitute God's Law have been here for over 2000 years. God is not going to come down to force you to heed them or obey them but be sure that He will never bend His Truth to accommodate even you. |

achorladey:When His "enemies" touched His prophets of Old, including John the Baptist, the last of them, were they, the prophets" rendered imperfect in God's eyes as a result? When Stephen was stoned to death was he, Stephen, rendered imperfect by that, in the sight of God? When James and many of the other apostles were killed/murdered by men, where they rendered imperfect as a result? Jesus Christ made it clear that that which makes you imperfect(sinful) is not what comes from the outside but instead what comes from inside of you..disobedience which you have stored up in your heart.... that is the only thing that can render you imperfect in the sight of God. Jesus Christ also told you that you should not fear those who can kill your body but instead fear the one who is able to kill both your body and soul. |
