Hello All,
Pls I need your advice.
I plan using the company account, where I work, and my mum as my sponsor. I got admission to master of science in Business Analytics. My employer is ready to give whatever document I need . I plan to write that my company will cover the full cost of the tuition while my mum settles the rest of the fees,In turn I will sign a two year contract to return and work for the company after my studies.
Should I carry one with this idea, does it make sense.
Plssssss,advice

Guys, I have a quick urgent question please

My visa interview is by 12pm on the 7th of May

I would be arriving around 11:30AM. I’m coming from a long distance cry

Please hope this is not a late time to be at the embassy?

Someone was telling me I have to be there 2 hours before the time on my appointment confirmation printout.

2 hours ke na flight .

On my interview day , my time was 8:30 and I came by 7:50am and yet I was still angry that I came that early cos I waited for long.

12pm does not mean the interview start by 12pm 12pm means you should be at the entry by 12pm .

So If plan to come by 11.30 good.
But beware that Lagos traffic can shock you especially since is at midday .
So if your house is not more than an hour on google map live traffic I suggest you leave by 10am adding 30 mins for unforeseen occurences

What profile do we update this on after updating something on the ds160 please?

Also, after trying this system you suggested, does anything change on the new ds 160 that I need to update on my profile?

Lastly, what would I change on my appointment page?

Please advise.

Sure. The new ds 160 is a new one that will be created from the original, you can make any change you want once you create it.

Change the ds 160 on your appointment to the new one.

Hello all,
I’m new here.
I’d like to seek your advice on the below:
- I have gotten admission to Texas A&M but would like to explore getting financial aid or student assistantship, please how do I go about this ?

- I have captured for my international passport renewal since 1st of February but unfortunately haven’t gotten it due to the usual “shortage” in booklet. I am to resume in Fall, does this hinder my chances of resuming this year? Even though they said there’d be booklet by May.

- My uncle is standing in as my sponsor and we don’t share the same name, would this be an hinderance for VISA?

I’d appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you

Guys, I think I made a mistake in my DS-160

Please advise cry

My I-20 says my sponsor is family funds
My family is actually paying my tuition etc

But when filling the DS-160, I saw a question that said

Person/Entity paying for your trip

I selected Myself as the one paying

I thought they meant flight and minor trip expenses

Someone is telling me now that I have made a grave mistake and it can lead to denial. That I should have put in my DS-160 that my family is paying for my trip.

PS: I have already submitted the DS-160 form and I can’t edit it again

Calm down. What you did is right. Perhaps they may have added the OPT as the additional year, but this is what pretty much everyone has on their I-20. So no need to change anything. MBA is for 2 years, but everyone's I-20 shows 3 years

Good morning Nairalanders
Would appreciate your help.

I just realized I mistakenly ticked ‘SELF’
on the D-160 form instead of Uncle for ‘the person or entity paying for your trip’

Do I have to fill a new D-160
How do I update this as I already have a scheduled visa appointment for 20th May?

frapzkid:

This is basically nonsense.
I have denied visa despite having travel history.

Easiest way to get a visa
1. Do a clear and well detailed ds 160 form making sure you remove all red flags
2. Make sure you defend what you wrote in your ds 160 form .

Is simple like that stop complicating matters

Thanks, you’re positive

You might be worried about the wrong things. Did you answer the questions well? How about you drop your first and second transcript let the gurus here help you point out what really went wrong. Wish you best of luck In your next interview

Hi thanks for your response

The first time I did a big mistake. I had my i20 showing Company and family friend as my sponsor while I filled in my dad on my ds160. I think the VO took note on that and denied me

The second I tried to rectify from the school. I changed my sponsor to my uncle and filled the same on my ds160 but I was denied.

Am currently going for the third time now but I don’t know if I should use another sponsor with my own surname

Please kindly advise and I don’t mind chatting you up privately

Stick with Uncle. Whether same surname or not, just stick with that? Did the 2nd VO go through the statement of account. If yes, stick to that particular person. If no, you can use any SOA but it should still be uncle.

Were you ask who is sponsoring you in the 2nd interview?

How where your questions answered? Did you answer correctly as it was filled on your Ds160 and even the question asked outside the Ds160?

Did you prove home ties?

Were you desperate to show your SOA to the VO when not asked?

Were you ask where you are working and you had an evidence like a passport to show?

I need to know all these because they can equally be a factor of denial.

The second interview was very short
After collecting my document he took a least 30 secs to go through my i20 to review sha and then started typing before he asked me his first question

VO: where do you work at
Me: I told him that I work at Xyz as a research analyst which involves analyzing data using python and r to get insights

VO: who sponsoring your trip
Me: I told him my Uncle(with a different surname) that he runs a haulage business

He took long to type before he asked
Are you married: I said no

Have you traveled out before: I said I have no reason to do so not until now

After he just said the normal stuff sorry you do not qualify for a visa blah blah

He didn’t even ask for my statement

Please I need your help
When asked if I have any other relative in US
What do I choose?
Because I have a sister that is married with kids
Plus I also have uncles and aunties over there

Also the 1-20 sent from my school
Can I print it and fill some parts because I can see a part that says name of guardians/parent
Or is it for the embassy straight.
