No, it is by the design of Africans

Most of us don't believe in human rights. We complain about racisim, yet deny rights to minorities, other religions, etc, etc.

Some Liberians are probably now supporting Weah, some don't want to have anyhting to do with fighting injustice.

Forget Europe. Africans are the cause of their own problems. If anything, the Europeans gave us a lot of things we could have used to build on.

Here is the problem with us Africans. We vote for superheroes, not for actual leaders.

We vote for that Superman who will come and save us from all the evils in the world,. provide ariconditoning for all our roads, give us monthly alawee of $500000 a month, and build a five bedroom mansion for every child in the country.

But here is the thing about democracy...the people we vote for are not perfect. And it is our duty as the followers to hold them accountable, and to put pressure on them by running for office, or by getting elected, and doing a good job, and so on

But we won't do that because we want to be comfortable.

Developed countries are developed because far too many people in those countires were not comfortable. And they got up and put pressure.

Now how many Liberians are ready to get up and put pressure.? How many Liberians are ready to run for office at district and county level? aND DO better at all levels?

How many Liberians are ready to stop looking for superman.

We can rule our selves well...and there are black leaders who have done well, all things considered.

The problem is, the people expect their leaders to be this perfect superhero who will come and take care of their problems. They forget that the essence of demcoracy is that the people also participate.

Also, a lot of people pay attention to what happens in the capital. No one wants to run for office in the rural and other urban areas.....and help improve things. And no one wants to do the job of putting pressure on leaders...we all dey form armchair geng...

Western countries have had leaders who opress, flex, steal, etc and etc, even today. That they are not bad is because the people play their part in the thing called...participatory democracy.(They also earn money from industries, meaning everything has to be working...or the industries don't work, and the money dries up. African countries earn cash from selling raw materials...which don't need 24/7 light to extract sometimes.)
