horlahsunbo225: Hello Gurus: I applied to only one school at US and got admitted though I've been tracking the course since 2017,I observed people's visa transcript mentioning of applying to two or more schools. My question is,does applying to two or more schools boost one's chances in visa approval? compared with applying to one school. Responses and experiences will be appreciated. Thanks. 1 Like |

Good evening, I have someone who went for her interview (F1) and it was approved. she was asked to collect her passport in a couple of days at the location she opted for. she was also given the white paper that talks about collection of issued visa and locations in Nigeria etc.. However, she was not given the small white slip that says congratulations, and on the white paper she was given, the following was written "COLLECTING YOUR ISSUED U.S VISITORS' VISA". Is this unusual or a mistake on the part of the VO. Or this is the new trend. 1 Like |

AmbassadorSam01:Applying to more schools mean you're passionate about your goal of getting into grad school and I've heard it from EduUsa that applying to one school is a red flag...I'm not saying applying to one school is that bad but if you can apply to more just for the sake of the interview, it'll be better |

Hello. Please, I am reapplying for a visa the second time.is it advisable to make slight changes in my Ds160 form . The first interview took place about a month ago. The course stated on my 1-20 is different from that on my admission letter but The international admission officer says that,s the major department offering the degree. In my first Ds 160, I filled the course stated on my admission letter. Pls I am about refilling a new Ds160. For this second interview. Can I change it to the course stated on my 1-20. Secondly..... Pls is it advisable to make changes on my job description section on the form as well. Thanks for your help 1 Like |

joesa: 1. You are working in Computer Science and going for a Masters in Psychology. Why do you need the degree? Your current job and the degree you are going for couldn't be more different. Put yourself in the VO's shoes, how would you react to this? Also, it is never good to volunteer unnecessary information at your interview. There was really no need to mention that your work is Computer Science related, It all started going downhill from there. Why not just say "Through a colleague at work" ? 2. You applied for 2 very unrelated courses. I wonder why. If you are going for a grad degree, make sure you studied something related in your undergrad and that you are also working in a related field where that degree will actually be helpful to you. If you studied something unrelated in undergrad then it is still okay as long as you are working in a field related closely to the degree you are going for. You need to restrategize and prepare better. 7 Likes |

joesa:I remember when you were interviewed I was also denied yesterday They were just dishing out denials ehn I’ll post my transcript later, but for now, I’m still crying because my program starts in 2 weeks time I’ll have to defer People who got approved yesterday were mostly aged couples going for their children’s graduation ceremony Then few guys going for summer work. (I don’t even know what this is) An elderly woman going for Omugwo for her daughter was denied. Like why?? A girl on wheelchair going for medical treatment abroad was denied too. Very sad! Some students also got approved, but those with good schools, good funding, and good educational qualifications. Like GRE, TOEFL etc My reason for denial: “You don’t have the funding requirement for this program” Whereas I was with account statement o He didn’t even bother to check When he asked me how much my sponsor earns monthly. I said a particular amount. I think he calculated it to dollar on his system. By the way, I was going to Stevens, my COA is about $60k (lol) them no gree give my funding or GA |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by EmeritusR: 8:16am On May 05, 2021 |
MelaninGemstone: Omo you just said it na. $60k with no funding at all. You need to find another school or you ask the school for funding. It will be difficult to prove to the VO that you are going to pay that fee when you get there. Although I know of some people who got their visas with $50k without any funding but it is something that is really rare, you will need to tell the VO why you or your sponsor want to spend times 2 of that huge amount for 2 years if going for masters. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Hello, Good day everyone, I have a few questions and I'll be glad if anyone can put me through cause I'm new to this whole visa processing thing. 1. Is it advisable to admit I'm going for my 2nd Masters degree after completing one in Nigeria. 2. Can I make use of a family friend SOA; is it a red flag. Although i already made use of it in getting the i-20 form from the school. But is it ok to use it for Visa interview. |

What are you looking for an earlier date for when you can request an emergency that will override/cancel your August booking, and get you an interview date in this month of May ? If you start date is close, better request emergency and stop waiting for what you are not certain is coming. Divabiola: |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by EmeritusR: 8:54am On May 05, 2021 |
MelaninGemstone: I think that’s actually one thing the VOs do not understand about us, if one has the money to pay for his fees even if it is an hundred thousand dollars, I don’t see the need for denying someone in regards of finance. As you just said now , there are still other people that have the money to pay for their fees even without any funding but because of previous experience. This people nor trust us again. So when they see this they immediately think negatively. 1 Like |

godguy: Everything depends on the visa officer. But the thing is that if you do not want unnecessary scrutiny on your visa application, it is good to avoid schools with large fees without funding. 2 Likes |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by EmeritusR: 9:31am On May 05, 2021 |
baba4thegehs: Well it depends on how your interview goes, you should prepare yourself for any outcomes, that’s the spirit! Our conclusion now might not be what will happen on your interview. But always stay positive. |
