There was pandemonium in Umuneke-Nta in Isiala Mbano Local Council of Imo State, following heavy sporadic gunshots in the community by suspected joint security operatives.

The Guardian gathered that the security operatives invaded the community, yesterday, in search of a notorious leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Thaddeus Ekechukwu, popularly known as ‘Moputu’.

It was also gathered that the target, husband to a police officer and father of five grown-up children, who is in his late 50s, was seen around the community even till the night before the incident.

An indigene of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The security personnel were fully armed. They drove in over seven security vehicles, including an armoured vehicle. They wore jackets with police boldly written on their back. Also, their vehicles were inscribed with ‘FBI-R’”

The source further said that the security team arrived in the community around 1:00 a.m. and laid ambush around Moputu’s house in attempt to apprehend him.

“But after the long waiting and searching, they couldn’t see him. Some said he disappeared immediately he sensed danger.
“Possibly in anger around 8:00 a.m., the policemen set the family house on fire in the presence of his brothers and other family members.

“The fire also destroyed many property, including a big generator, fridge, brand new motorcycle, among many others.

“Unfortunately, most of these property, including the house, do no belong to Moputu. They belong to his elder brother, who only accommodates him and his family in it.”

“After that, they continually shot in the air and left the community through Amaraku axis. There is no casualty because I think they are only after Moputu.

“The incident has put the people in serious fear because they don’t know if the security operatives will return and what may be their next line of action.”

MEANWHILE, when contacted, the state Police Command Spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu, said he was yet to know about the incident. He promised to get back but as at the time of filing in this report, he was yet to react.

Very bad attitude of this inefficient security agencies.

This is the more reason whenever I see these security agencies been slaughtered like chickens and broilers, I feel no single pity for them.. because their dead is always deserved and should be clueless.

You looked for someone, you didn't see him then you set another person's house ablaze.

Worst security personnel in the whole world. No wonder Ghana now uses well trained men to execute their mission professionally.

They're burning houses now, and everybody is quiet..
When the people they are burning their houses decide to visit them with the same iniquity, folks who preach about "Afghanistan and Somalia", will be all over the place frothing at the mouth as usual..

As the security agents engage in arson and extra judicial activities, no one is talking about their tribe or echoing the infamous line "East is turning to Somali", or even considering the fact that these burnt houses were built with legitimate income and shelter families, but when the UGM pay them back in kind, you'll start to see BMC poets, Igbo lovers and dimwitted unity betters coming with such hypocritical lines to shield these bandits and brigands in uniform.

happy over what? The high time both the unknown gunmen and the security personnel sheath their sword, the better for us the innocent civilians. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I kept on shouting that killing police officers up and down will backfire on innocent civilians but you guys called me afonja. My heart bleeds when I see this type of news and I no longer fancy reading heart breaking news especially from.igboland. I respect you that's why I reply your mention but am disappointed that you don't know me. I don't want the death of any of my people both igbos on uniforms and Igbo civilians

Because it's the Fulani army doing the burning, nobody will talk. Automatically, it's okay for soldiers nd police men to burn people's houses...when same is done to them, some idiots will remember that "the east will soon bcom worse than Afghanistan"

Just last Sunday, they shot and killed an innocent father-of-3 in Owerri, for no sane reason at all. 3 bullets to his skull...then they dumped his body at fmc morgue, just like that.

He who lives by the gun, will surely die by the gun.
