Wellliving: I created a new Monika just to seek for guidance from you; esteemed nairaland members. Don't mind my use of English please.
I will be 25 year later this year. No body is doing well in my family.
I wrote my waec in 2016 with good result—which I got through malpractice. After which I learnt how to repair phones. I was through within 6 months. But after learning this skill, I am yet to establish my own space, as my parents are poor. I did menial jobs with the hope of raising capital to start my own phone repair shop.
Fast-forward to beginning 2020 when I was abducted by ritualists. I managed to escape from their dean by the grace of God. But I lost all my savings.
After which I developed mental illness because of the trauma I experienced there. But today I can say I'm OK. My father is currently hustling to help me buys some tools for the phone repair skills I learnt 5 years ago.
The problem is that I have been at home since then, doing nothing, sleeping and waking up, having unending anxiety, managing my acute depression.
I have a laptop I use to learn programming when I have data. But am not seeing any Way to be financially free from it as there is no electricity in my area, no money to even buy data.
My cousin came today and told me of a relative that needs an apprentice to stay in his shop and get settled after 5years (five years)
So, I don't know if I should wait till when my dad raises money, so I can return to phone repairing (I have forgotten many things and the raining phones then was Nokia phone (Java phone) which is now obsolete)
Or I should just go for the apprenticeship and wait to get settled in the next five years. ?
Go for the apprenticeship. No knowledge is a waste. Besides you can’t keep waiting for your father to keep raising money when you don’t know how long it’ll take him in this harsh economy. Idle mind is devils workshop. Get your mind busy by doing that apprenticeship, take it very seriously please. But get your family blessing and if possible, sign documents and involve lawyers in the apprenticeship agreement, in order not to be duped at the end of 5years. Any accommodations there? |
