Bianca Ojukwu Shares Iconic Photos Of Her Dad’s Swearing-in As Governor In 1983 by ChinnysBlog: 2:22pm On May 08, 2021
Bianca Ojukwu, former Beauty Queen, Ambassador and Wife of the late Biafran Leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu commemorated the 12th year anniversary of the death of her father , the late Chief (Dr) C.C. Onoh, Legal luminary and former Governor of Old Anambra State with a post on her Facebook page where she shared nostalgic and never before seen photos of the Swearing-In Ceremony of iconic politician and acclaimed father of Enugu State.
See post below>>>

IN LOVING MEMORY : H.E CHIEF DR C.C. ONOH ( Sunset 5 MAY 2009 ).
SWEARING -IN CEREMONY AS GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE.

Today marks the 12th year Anniversary of the transition unto greater glory of Chief Dr C.C. Onoh, (born on 27 April 1927)Former Governor of Anambra State ( then consisting of Anambra, Enugu and parts of Ebonyi States ), and in commemoration, I am sharing pictorial memories of one of the most significant events of his life...His Swearing-In Ceremony and Inauguration as Governor of Anambra State on 10th of October 1983. I am certain many of us will recognize many of the personalities then in their heydays (but now sadly deceased) pictured at this event.

He had first contested for the same office in 1979, having emerged victorious at the primaries of the NPN( National Party Of Nigeria), against two political titans , Dr Alex Ekwueme and Dr Chuba Okadigbo where he scored 291 votes , Dr Ekwueme 110 votes and Dr Okadigbo 90 votes after the balloting. The NPP, with Dr Nwobodo as candidate emerged victorious at that year’s guber Elections.Four years later, in 1983, Chief C.C. Onoh took the plunge once more. The gubernatorial elections of 1983 were stormy but he emerged victorious.
When asked by the journalists what thoughts were going through his mind on this symbolic day of his Inauguration as Governor, he simply said....‘ I wish my mother, who played such an active part through the hectic period of the 1979 Elections and who insisted on preparing all the food for the numerous politicians who thronged our home, only to receive the shocking news that I was defeated in the ‘79 Elections was alive to witness her son’s eventual triumph and victory on this great day in 1983’. His mother , Madam Esther Nnude Onoh had passed on in 1982, a year before the 1983 Elections.
Today, I celebrate all you are, Nna m and all you achieved and continue to represent in the lives of a multitude, and a generation. Your mother in heaven was surely proud of your tenacity and perseverance.. May God continue to grant you both a well merited rest in His Kingdom. Amen.

Obviously, she was born with a silver spoon. Those born with a wooden or plastic spoon can change their narrative and that of their children rather than hate.

Chief CC Onoh was such a bold and courageous leader and hated injustice with passion. RIP Okaa Omee.

The house he built then as a sitting governor is still there around Milking Hill.

I can bet my early morning poo that if they dash a room for free in that house, you will reject it.

The best investment he must have made would be training his children and the shares he bought in some companies sha.

Few weeks after this, one brute wriggled his way out of the barracks to overthrow the government of the 2nd republic ostensibly "to fight corruption"! Sounds familiar? To fight this corruption with him were characters like one Sani Abacha, ibrahim Babangida and all other multi billionaire military politicians you read of today.

The 2nd republic as imperfect as it was, can never be used to compare with the tragedy we have today! Folks like Solomon Lar, Dee Mbakwe, Jakande, Bola Ige, Adesanya, Adeshina and all other relatively hardworking politicians were involved. Some of them were sent to prisons because 5 or 6 bags of rice were seen in their houses by the same Buharis vindictive government that allowed a northern emir disappear with "dozens of suitcases".

This country has suffered a whole lot under Buharis wayward ambitions! This country would have been far ahead than where it finds itself today, if Buhari and his gang of ruthless thieves didn't connive to topple that government in December 1983! Countries like Indonesia, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia and even the koreans were not doing better than Nigeria at this period! It was after Buhari and Abacha and Babangida took turns to rape the living day out of Nigeria that we found ourselves competing with Chad and Niger republic..

This was before the fulani terrorists from futa jalon took over the control of who is appointed or not as a governor of SE states. They saw how Samuel Mbakwe of Imo state and Jim Nwobodo of Anambra state developed the cities they bombed to ashes, within a spell of 4 years and they vowed that these Igbo people are developing at a speed that is out of control, and viola a coup de etat by the same terrorist that is occupying aso rock today.
The terrorists got rid of all industrial revolution in Igbo land and in came policies that stifled businesses in our land which made our people to move out to other places. Well thought out orchestrated plan to keep the great Igbos down. Today, we are saying that those terrorist savages can not continue to dictate for us. They must all move out from our land or die trying to hold us back.

You have said it all. Hypocrisy has always been the problem in this country. Broad daylight Robbers masquerading as anti corruption crusaders. Buhari has nailed this country.

Yea. My former boss occupied one of his numerous properties and he said the man was so generous and even used to let poor people stay free of charge and never charge him rent in December.

Stop talking what you don’t know. He never built any house as a sitting Governor because Buhari staged a coup few months after he assumed office. The house around Milking hill is actually his own father’s house, built in 1923, a stone edifice that is now designated a heritage site by the state under its family buildings archives. Onoh owned countless properties all over the country even before he became a governor.

You know them...
Buhari started by appointing mainly northern Officers as dominant commanders and administrators in Southern States... That practice continued for a long time both with the Babangida and Abacha regimes. One of the governors appointed to run Imo state during this period, Tanko Zubairu actually pulled down the carpet and glass factory built by Mbakwe and transported the machineries to Kaduna from whence he bottled down from!

It was this diabolical consistency in destroying all the serious economic structures erected in the east by Dee Mbakwe and Jim Nwobodo that is responsible for the near destruction of the eastern Nigeria manufacturing capabilities before private individuals came in. It was also during this period that most Eastern newspapers like "The Statesman" were craftly crippled through 'Import bans on newsreel', essentially leaving the Lagos - ibadam expressway section of the Nigerian press to gather steam and dominate political narratives nationwide...

Nigerias problems revolve around 5 or 6 characters; Buhari, Babangida, Danjuma, Obasanjo and maybe Sbdulsalami, Atiku and the godfather wannabe at Burddillion
