In this generation that men are scarce like diamond. How many girls get one to marry not to talk of two. Ask every 21yrs and above her first prayer point she will tell you husband.

Monogamy is a modern concept. Humans, both male and female, love to sow wild oats. Children here are close-minded and averse to research.

I never liked that south africa....everything about them is inverse and opposite....slavery has dried up their correct thinking....here in America....the south Africans here still behave dumb and stupid too...infact I regret helping a south African here that was suffering and in a very bad situation....I bought her cell phone and help her secure accommodation and job and then she showed how an ingrate south Africans are when you help them......that also reminds me how ungrateful they are to Nigeria that help them get free from Apartheid..........their men are lazy physically and mentally.....thats why their women run after Nigerian.....very uncreative and evil set of people

How I wish Nigerian know how great we are as Nigerians...

On behalf of the bad people of SA I apologise for her daughter who didn't build an altar to worship you after you got her an iphone Z, accomodation , a job, never asked for sex and extended her time on earth by 50 munutes.

I'm neither a Nigerian nor a South African but your mentality is backward. Living in the US certainly didnt help

Men are not scarce but those who meet the societal "cut-off mark" is what is scarce,

Mixed feelings about allowing SA women to marry more than one man

While South Africa's marriage laws could in the near future allow women to marry more than one husband (polyandry), just as polygamous men can have many wives, there is still uncertainty surrounding the concept.

Legalisation of polyandry is one of the wide-ranging proposals in the Green Paper on Marriages. The country's Department of Home Affairs published the landmark 67-page policy document this week.

The department stressed in the document that it sought to create a new marriage act that will allow all in the country to have recognised, legal marriages.

A few types of marriages in the country are not recognised; and on the other hand, marriage legislation is deemed to not promote equality.

Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Rastafarian marriages are not recognised by South African law and the Green Paper also puts up proposals for their recognition.

“Moreover, activists submitted that equality demands that polyandry be legally recognised as a form of marriage,” said the document.

Polyandry and polygamy emerged as some of controversial topics during the ministerial dialogues.

Traditional leaders were among those who objected to polyandry and labelled it an “unacceptable practice because it is not of African origin”, revealed the document.

“Ironically, stakeholders who believed in the practice of polygamy (polygyny) were opposed to the practice of polyandry,” commented the department.

The public has until the end of June to comment on the department’s proposals.

Home Affairs said it was aware its process was bound to ruffle feathers, but maintained the changes were necessary.

“This is the beginning of a crucial public discourse that will re-define the concept of marriage in South Africa,” it said.

“The process will unearth issues that may make some of us uncomfortable, but will encourage dialogue within the South African and international communities.”

Polyandry can be akin to a padlock that alot of keys can open. Doesnt make sense to me. But a key that can open many padlocks is called a "masterkey". Doesn't the latter make substantial sense??

Did Caucasians also institute the eleven official Languages of South Africa? From your write up you still look on everything the whiteman has got to offer as superior.
The white man did come to Nigeria too, sadly he failed to do much of the magic he did to South Africa.
Because we asked them to leave when we were not ready for independence. South Africa got independence 30 years after Nigeria.
On languages, caucasians don't joke with indigenous languages. Check languages of multicultural countries in Europe.
Caucasians are not superior than us but they are more adventurous.

The quest for equality should not be odd, it should be the norm.
very true. But I havent seen women involved in for example seeing how they can help in battles at the warfronts like infantry in war fighting from the very front, contesting for NURTW CHAIRMAN, and branch chairmen, hussling enmass at construction sites for odd and very stressful jobs. But when it comes to issues of enjoyment at home and at work the women folks start fighting for equality. Not fair.

I support it 100%. What men get women should also receive. No comprising on equality.

But African men will oppose it coz the system benefits them and they don't wanna give up their privilege. In the same breath they'll be pleading for the elimination of white privilege, for example. Serious hypocrisy.

Some of the questions being asked on this thread show some daft reasoning. Who said multiple partners are only for men?

We will be the crusaders of decadence, the same way we adopted foreign religions and defined our existence on it .

The hypocrisy is astonishing. When they complain about white privilege is most hypocritical. They can allow gay marriage but never polyandry.

Nigerian men need to understand the larger world beyond their customs that give them rights they don't deserve.

I don't think women would mind going to war against other female troops - as it is there are many female army personnel but they are relagated to administrative work due to the masculine character of modern wars.

There are also plenty of examples online of women taking up mining, mechanics, bus driving, etc - and all of them will tell u they face family and societal pushback. Men and old-skool people are the ones that hold women back.

Nigerian men need to understand the larger world beyond their customs that give them rights they don't deserve.

Even gay marriage they don't accept, but there's an even more serious war being fought over female bodies. That's why in SA for example, there's a greater chance of a lesbian getting killed than a gay man because men feel entitled to women's bodies.

As for Nigerian men, the country in general is decades behind SA in terms of respect for the rights of minorities, the vulnerable and marginalized. Very partriachal and conservative.

Speak for yourself. Some Africans can walk and chew gum at the same time. This is a matter for the Dept of Home Affairs. There are other departments that deal with technological advancements. You also suffer from the single-mindedness you're accusing others of. (Insert laughing emoji here)

Definitely an ally. Men have too many undeserved privileges. U wouldn't understand or admit it coz u are a beneficiary of that privilege.
as an ally, let's reason together. When a woman is given such privilege, she will abuse it.
There will be a lot of murder cases in the system. Maternal death Will be a problem too. Imagine a woman getting married to four men. And each of them want 4 kids from the woman. How far? How many years will it take to accomplish the mission following child spacing for a healthy womb ?

No you're wrong.

In the real world men kill each other for the padlock. They also find value in themselves through the padlock.
