Nigeria is truly fortunate to have a Federal Constitution that guarantees fundamental human rights. It also has Fundamental Rights Enforcement Rules designed to ensure “enhanced access to justice for all classes of litigants, especially the poor, the illiterate, the uninformed, the vulnerable, the incarcerated, and the unrepresented.” Everyone from the man-in-the-street, the police, politicians, lawyers, the courts up to the President have a solemn duty to ensure the rights of every citizen are protected and to act expeditiously whenever a citizen’s rights are denied. https://www.atheistalliance.org/campaigns/mubarak-bala-one-year-illegally-detained-in-nigeria/ 9 Likes 4 Shares |

After a year in detention, Bala has not been brought before a court and his lawyers have not been informed of any charges against him. Bala is being illegally detained not because he has done wrong but because those in power do not like his opinions. Bala did nothing wrong even his accusers can't even charge him with a crime. The religious zealots are tyrannical madmen with no respect for the laws of the land. 61 Likes 7 Shares |

The way NL's atheist community has ignored this case is baffling. I understand that Nigeria isn't exactly the most open or tolerant society for non religious people, but atheists always seem to pick on soft targets like Christianity, while neglecting Islam which is an actual existential threat to their lives. Practically ALL the atheists I know, have testified that they feel safer around Christians than they do around muslims. 29 Likes 1 Share |

The police is confused, in the South East they are secular and mount checkpoints at every 500m and in the North they are no different from Hisbah. Imagine detaining a citizen in a cell for one year without charge because someone claimed he no longer believe in Allah. This country keeps moving backwards 23 Likes 1 Share |

1. The northern muslims especially the Hausa -Fulani's version of islam is a radical one. Many times, they judge and condemn people based what they were told by their clerics and not based on logical reasoning and what the constitution of the country says. 2. Their sense of reasoning is beclouded by radical islamic ideologies that they can't even control or are even aware of. If you ask them who appointed them judge and killers of people with dissenting opinions, they will tell you it was Allah when actually it was an islamic cleric who is as confused as the word confused. 3. They continue to preach one Nigeria when they don't recognize Nigerian constitution. They value the sharia law more than the Nigerian law. I mean, isn't that against the ideals of our sovereign country? They think secessionists are those who are clamouring to breakaway from Nigeria when they are the real culprits. They think the Nigerian constitution is not good enough for them. What kind of madness is that? 4. These people that kill for muhammed, who appointed them executioners or lord over others? Lol... even the elderly ones among them thinks that they are doing the bidding of Allah. I mean... Hahahahaha. Logical reasoning is very far from these people. They are living in delusion. 5. I think the only people that can help the guy is the international community. International NGOs like the UN, the US, Germany or the Canadian Governments are the bodies that can help him. It is quite unfortunate. Ganduje is an extremist, a dollar hypocrite and wicked villain. How can Nigeria ever be one with these people using the koran as their reference point to destroy businesses, unlawfully lynch innocent people or even infringe on people's rights to freedom? 19 Likes |

Nigeria is indeed a zoo. President Buharis election was one of the worst things ever to happen to this country. An unrepentant religious bigot and nepotistic lunatic like buhari was packaged by supposedly educated and sophisticated people and paraded as a Messiah. All he has done is empower religious fanatics and extremists and covertly support a Fulani supremacy agenda. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Gross human right violations. You all are quiet over human right abuse of a Nigerian Atheist but are quick to attack people for criticising ur terrorists sheiks n 419 pastors. Section 37 clearly guarantee right to freedom of concience but an atheist is illegally being detained for over a year n i dnt see no hastags for him by the religious youths. The ATHEIST REPUBLIC will not relent in quest for justice for Mubarak Bala. These are just 1 of so many reasons Militant Atheist Terror groups becomes imperative for our existence n right to freedom n human liberty over religious evils 2 Likes |

How I wish anything can change to favour him but the truth is that the guy has not seen anything, going by Elzakzaky's case. Even if the court releases him, there's no assurance he'd be a free man. 2 Likes |
