Henderson is a lot more commanding and guards the box a lot more than De Gea like other top goalkeepers. De gea is a much better shot stopper and is good in games where we invite a lot of pressure.

But every goalkeeper I've seen since i started watching football peaked in their 30s. I dont see why De Gea would the one goalkeeper to break that trend. Why would we risk losing him in his peak years, for Dean Henderson?

De Gea still has at least 4-5 years of still being a top goalkeeper. Being from the academy doesn’t merit you getting game time, Henderson is not better than De Gea and won’t be for a while.

For me the right phrase is GKs generally play more into their 30s than outfield players. Saying they hit their prime above 30 is very arguable. You used Degea as an exception but check all the top teams around and what age is their GKs? Thibaut Courtios, Ter Stegen, Allison Becker, Andre Onana, Ederson, Jan Oblak, Donarumma etc.

The likes of Casillas, Buffon, Kahn, Nueur, Illoris, Handanovic, Navas, Bravo, Valdez, Barthez etc were world class and at their peak in their 20s, some of them have carried that level into their 30s why many of them didn't.

So that idea that GKs hit their prime in their 30s is a myth.

I don’t think a team who finished like 19 points behind the league winners deserve any accolade over those who finished 10 points behind them.

It would also have been better had Mou finished with a similar points tally the next season.

If you aggregate the league positions of all managers post Fergie- Ole’s record stands out. This doesn’t mean Ole is the best of the lot, or that he shouldn’t be sacked if he’s found wanting, it only means that his league record is the best post SAF so far. Full stop.
