Guys, i would like to know if the response below is okay. I am filling my ds 160 form and I am asked, "Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?" I responded yes and in the explanation box I say "I WAS REFUSED A US F1 VISA ON THE 6TH OF MAY, IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT SHOW STRONG HOME TIES" is the response okay? 1 Like |
Guys, kudos to all the good job y’all are doing on here! Please can I get a list of schools that don’t require WES evaluation for post graduate studies Thanks I've been wondering about this too for someone who wants to study masters in public health with the way the universities keep asking for Wes and Sophas applications |

Please I am having issues uploading a photo. It is saying it doesn’t not meet requirements. What can I do. I tried taking it at home and editing myself but it still did not accept it. I also went to a photographer. No luck there too. It is saying image not accepted due to compression artifacts or image is overly compressed. |

Aishat89:As suggested,do WES evaluation and if your interest is in nursing, there's accelerated nursing program for those who have their first degree in sciences. Just try and use the Google to check for different University offering that you meet the requirements. I've seen some with CGPA of2.75 on WES EVALUATION 1 Like |

Hello beautiful people..below is my proposed transcript. Please help scrutinize and point out where corrections should be made. Thank you and God bless y’all. Transcript. Q: Where are you going? A: I’m going to Grand Valley State University for my Masters in Communication. Q: How Many Schools did you apply to? A: 2. Q: Why GVSU? A: GVSU stands out for me because the course offerings have concentrations that are inline with the role I will be performing as a Senior Sales Manager at XYZ after my Masters Program. Also, I am fascinated by the research work of Professor XYZ. He has a research going on which is focused on “how language targeting helps in ethnic advertising”. As a Senior Sales Manager, this research work would help me to make more informed advertising decisions that are detailed and very effective. Q: Why do you want to have this degree? A: Presently, I work with XYZ as a Sales Executive. The Current Senior Sales Manager would be due for retirement in 2-3 years and one of the many requirements needed to fill in that post is a Masters Degree in Communication or a related Mgt course. Q: Who is your sponsor? A: My uncle. Q: What does he do? A: He’s a construction Engineer. He owns XYZ. Q: Why is he sponsoring? A: He has been so passionate about my career and he actually sponsored my undergraduate programs. I told him about the post of Senior Sales Manager that would be open at my current place of work in about 2-3 years and it requirements. He immediately told to me enroll for a masters program in the US and he would be sponsoring so that I can gain more advanced knowledge and intellectually fit in for the post. Q: Why do you want to study in the US? A: The US is known to have one of the best education system in the world. I would love to be exposed to this kind of environment. Q: How did you get to know this school? A: Carried out my research using google and other academic websites. Q: What is your study plan/What are the courses you’ll be taking? A: It would take me 24months to complete 36credit courses. For my first semester, I’ll be taking 3 courses while the remaining 8 in my 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester. My courses include Systems Theory and Comm, Empirical Methods in Comm, Emerging Comm Technologies, Leadership and Organizational Dynamics, Persuasion and couple others. Q: What’s your plan after graduation? A: With my updated knowledge of the various aspects of professional communication and its application, I’ll be coming back home to write my promotion examination then take up the role of a Senior Sales Manager after a successful examination. Actually I’m on a study leave, so I have to be back in 2years. (On a long run,I intend working with them for a maximum of 5years while setting a stage to running my own advertising firm to power most business in Nig. while offering employment opportunities to Nigerians.) words in bracket might not be necessary Q: If I give you this visa, what will you do? A: that means I have 24months of concentration to equip myself with advanced professional communication skill the head back to Nigerian to take up managerial roles and impact knowledge. |

you may have to do the search yourself. I’m currently working on a list but I can assure you that the no of universities that don’t use sophas are not up to 5 in the top 120. The only one I remember now is Brigham young uni. The worst part for me is that most of these universities still ask for application fee again. Like if one isn’t careful only application fees will pass, 500 dollars 1 Like |

Please I need clarification on some questions. I’m torn between epidemiology and biostatistics as a masters in public health. Most universities now have them as separate concentrations and biostatistics has better job prospects. I’m bothered about the masters of science in biostatistics and how it stacks up against an mph in biostatistics. I leant universities and pharmaceutical companies prefer the msc because of the thesis part which I’m trying to avoid. I just want a professional masters. but state health departments and hospitals prefer mph in epidemiology. 1. So is an mph in biostatistics regarded in the field? 2.Or will an MSc in biostatistics be better? 3.Also how stressful is an mph in biostatistics? in terms of assignments, practicals etc.. I have always loved numbers and calculations even if I had to drop it with going into the medical line. 4.Will not having a degree in statistics work against me if I want to go for msc in biostatistics instead? I mean more of the workload part. Some US Universities have the msc under the department of biostatistics but for others it’s a joint effort between the dept of biostatistics and the school of public health and some others have it totally under the school of public health. 5.Do you think going to a program that added bioinformatics to it will be better ? 6.Also how do you build a resume for biostatistics and informatics? I’m in the health field and I am exposed to community medicine but no further exposure to statistics. 7.Where can one with a degree with bioinformatics work in? All my searches on google lumps biostatistics with mathematicians and statisticians so I can’t get a clear view of what to expect. 8. What hours of the day are you at your freest while doing an mph. Whether in epidemiology or biostatistics? Thank you for all the replies. |

I did GRE and TOEFL to bolster my chances and just to have a complete package and prevent stories. CGPA - 4.26/5.00 (I did not use WES, the school didn't require it and no money...lol... Some made it mandatory though) GRE - 308 TOEFL - 99 (They accepted my WAEC in lieu before I sat for this exam) I graduated 2015. It's been long and I was a little rusty, actually very rusty. I studied Agricultural Engineering and worked as a Mechanization Expert so na same line. I got a professor of interest and he interviewed me and that's it. I did well in the interview and he advised me to apply. That's all. I guess I also had good SOP and LORs Transiter: |
