Hello Nairalanders, I just want to make this as short and brief as possible. My neighbor asked me for advice recently, but am yet to find a suitable answer to the question he asked. He's 35 years of age, and presently in HND1 at one of the Polytechnics in the Southern part studying Chemical Engineering. He hopes to still work with his certification after his HND program, and the question is IF HE SHOULD REDUCE HIS AGE BY DECLARING AN AFFIDAVIT IN COURT OR IF HE CAN STILL BE ABLE TO FIND EMPLOYERS AFTER GRADUATION? He also still wishes to proceed abroad for Masters if that can boost his chances.

What advice do you think is suitable for someone like that?

I thank you all in anticipation for your contributions.

Please, Nairaland mods, help me push this to front page, Sirs or Ma.

I'll suggest he goes for a master to boost his chances of employment but even at that there's no certainty because of his age. And by the way, under what option in chemical engineering is he in? I hope its not oil and gas

I don't know about the option he's in to be honest. I didn't ask

Try and ask. But tell him to graduate with a strong credit to make him eligible for lecturing. At least that can compensate for the age factor.

At 35, no matter how much he reduced his age, it ll backfire. Tell him to focus on masters to improve his chances and depends less on paid appointment. It's unfortunate that the motivation behind all these certificate is paid employment

Tell him to use the money he has planned to embark on a journey to study for his master into a profitable business he can manage here in Nigeria.

He has a business giving him steady income already. He said he just wants to have a little experience of working with a certificate

That's what I wanted to tell him initially but undecided to seek Nairalanders opinion too.
