Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by TrajansKong: 4:57pm On May 15, 2021 |
So it looks as if our recently arrived young people have started doing what they are best known for in Marseille. If you understand French there is a twitter thread here https://twitter.com/search?q=Nigerians%20marseille&src=typeahead_click Article in French here https://www.liberation.fr/france/2019/09/29/mafia-nigeriane-a-marseille-j-ai-tres-peur-car-je-sais-de-quoi-ils-sont-capables_1754355/ Long story short - our young men are taking over the drugs, prostitution and extortion rackets in the city through the use of very extreme and random violence. Nigerians are now feared across Marseille. Not only by the white French and the Arabs but also by our fellow Black Africans - the Guineans, Comorians, Maliens, Ivorians who have lived there peacefully for decades - and who now fear for their lives. Why are we like this? How can we stop it? Because of us all Black people are now treated with suspicion. Our disgraceful behaviour stains the name and blights the experiences of every Black and African traveller regardless of the passport they hold. Very shameful. 5 Likes |

TrajansKong: Its not everything you blame on Nigerians... just because one or two of our folks engage in criminality does not mean we have taken over the criminal enterprises Marseille. |

I’ve been praying fervently and almost anxiously since the year started... Let me leave first before every nation in the world brings up visa policies that clearly strike out applications from Nigerians. We would have caused it! 7 Likes |

benjanjo1: My countryman, we are not talking about one or two isolated examples. These are consistent patterns of behaviour we exhibit across the globe, Malaysia. Russia, Colombia, China, Vietnam, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Philippines, UK, USA. Jails overseas are full to bursting with our criminal youth. How is this situation not catastrophic for our families, students and business people who need to enter these countries? The average white person cannot distinguish between Edo/Igbo/Yoruba/ whatever talk less of between a Black French person and a Nigerian cultist. This is bad for everybody. It must change. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Send your observations as letters to the Nigeria High commission in France maybe they can collaborate with the French authority to fight the bad ones on time before it becomes some kind of hatreds and stigma to every Nigerians(especially innocents and others to come) in Marseille and even France at large. Or better still send it to foreign affairs ministry through NIDCOM. |

I was in Marseille some years back and the kind of rejection I see on the streets made me hate France all together. When you ask for directions, you will be told in English that they don't understand what you're saying. When passed by people they search their pockets to make sure that their things Are still intact. No knowing that the Biafra have already tainted the reputation of Nigeria in the City 4 Likes |

TrajansKong: Bros! We are not the only criminals in these countries! There are others deadlier and more ruthless than Nigerians. You certainly cannot say every black criminal from Africa in an Asian or European country is a Nigerian. The report is exaggerated. They like to beam search light on us, they will not publicize or identify the criminal activities of other nationalities in their domains. But they love pointing fingers at Nigerians 2 Likes |
Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by TrajansKong: 7:30pm On May 15, 2021 |
benjanjo1: Correct. The criminal activities of other nationalities do not involve standing in the road or on street corners in groups harassing women, fighting with police or otherwise constituting a very loud public nuisance. The search light finds us BECAUSE we are Black. Nationalities with higher turnover/profile criminals are largely quiet and do not constantly need to draw attention to themselves. Ultimately the life of everyone who looks remotely like us is under stress and suspicion because of what we do outside Nigeria. In this respect we are a problem to the fortunes of the Black world. Instead of pointing the finger at others why don't you want to change the way we are 1 Like |

TrajansKong: Change the way we are?! Bros the only thing wrong with the way we are is perception. And perception is not reality. |
Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by TrajansKong: 8:23pm On May 15, 2021 |
benjanjo1: My brother, nobody is making this up. Perception What is happening right now in the prisons of Marseille, London, Dubai, Vientiane, Caracas, Berlin, Ankara, Teheran, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, New Dehli, Nairobi, Beijing and many, many more is not perception. Do you deny that we are disgracing our heritage and our future and that of the Black race? I am genuinely fascinated to see how anyone could substantiate this your statement I quoted. 4 Likes |

TrajansKong: Bros! No be only our people dey there. In fact I doubt if the population of Nigerian inmates is of any significance company to other nationalities. TrajansKong: The actions of a few cannot and should not be used to label the whole. You know this! TrajansKong: We are perceived to be bad and it is that perception that must change. I cannot deny that we have nasty folks within our ranks (both home and abroad), but the true nature of things must be stated plainly. Not exaggerated reports of the criminality in foreign countries by Nigerian nationals |
Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by TrajansKong: 10:15pm On May 15, 2021 |
benjanjo1: From this your statement, can I take it that you believe we have the same proportion of behaviourally good and bad (at home and abroad) as every other national group? And that the Nigerian majority foreign prisoner populations (talk less of death row) in Thailand, Brazil, Malaysia etc, etc is all down to perception? 1 Like |

The behaviour of Nigerians abroad depends on which tribe dominates the country. Edo people are actually more babaric than Igbos depending. Blame edos for France, Italy... Igbos in western countries are quite decent, it's the ones that go to Asia that screw up the most. So far they see Nigerian's as happy criminals until otherwise. |
Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by TrajansKong: 10:49pm On May 15, 2021 |
neyohh: As I said before, they make no distinction between Nigerian ethnic groups or between us and any other Black people. |

I know blacks (including Nigerians) that have had a completely different experience because they were all reasonably fluent in French. The issue isn't always racism, it is that so many French people dislike the fact that tourists, visitors and immigrants in France can't speak French. mamdanju: 1 Like |

TrajansKong:Nigerians are generally smart people... They are beings that love to go at work immediately. Some of our tactics/methods seem a bit too hard to digest fastly amoungs other races. A Nigerian always stands out in an office/company oversease (whether good or bad). We are just Nigerians (special beings... I have come to terms with this : no amount of all this topics and grunting can change us). A Nigerian is inbuilt tough skinned. This other races find offensive or intimidating. 1 Like |

tonididdy:well said bro.. Other countries find it hard to comprehend on how swift we are when it comes to adaptation and improvision when push comes to shove. Our country has made us develop tough skin wherever we go. I guess it as a result of the country not providing anything for its citizens whereby you have to sort yourself out because no one,not even the govt comes to your rescue. This has made us think outside the box. Where an average American, south African, or even British will sit and wait for the govt to provide everything for them,An average Nigerian will go out and hustle for bread. When you visit these countries, you will see how lazy the citizens are.. 1 Like |
