Bro I still won't advise you against moving. Like the other guy rightly pointed out, nowhere is truly safe.
Be vigilant and be careful. You will enjoy the place without having to move at night and even if you wanted to move at night if you have a car you're good to go because where would you possibly go if not clubbing and all that. I go out at night but I know where to go to.
In my opinion I believe Nigeria would have been way worse had the youths not been focused on cybercrime so people really don't have time for petty crimes as much as these ones do. Some of the problems nigerians face here we cause for ourselves. It's hard for a Nigerian to be in a place and lie low and live his life, we nigerians like to show ourselves.

well said..Cyber rime changed the narrative for most nigerian youth. They can easily make money online without getting themselves involved in petty crime. Unlike south africans that are generally lazy and hence result to stealing and all sort.
Not all nigerians are loud though..The loudest one are usually particularly from one tribe.

Best way to send or receive Rand/Naira is peer to peer (for monies up to 15-20k Rands). Ask for who wants to buy Rands for Naira and use that option.

Please for newbies in SA entirely,my advise is that you watch your steps wherever you go,try as much as you can to limit your movements within the Nigerian communities and also don't walk at nights and if you have to,don't walk alone. Really I'm not a newbie in SA but I'm a newbie in Capetown, the last time I was in SA (2013),I was in Jo'burg for just a week and I didn't really move around but something happened this morning when I was walking down the street to sight see the beauty of Capetown and also get an airtime to call people back home, unfortunately on getting to a 4 way turns (a major highway),I saw a group of South African guys(blacks) at a sharp turning, all smoking and gisting, immediately I knew something was about to happen and lo and behold it did. One of them spoke the Afrikan language to me but unfortunately I couldn't respond cos I don't understand and next thing about 8 of them wanted to mug me,I summoned courage to address them in English that "what's the problem" and next thing one of them who I guess was their leader asked where I was going to and I managed to tell him with all confidence but deep down I was like "it has happened today",then he said ok that I was free to go when he heard the name of my coy. I said thank you and I left immediately and walked as fast as my legs could go and even as I was going one said "watch your movements because we don't allow other Africans here", I looked back, nodded and moved faster than I was moving.
I thank God because if it was a lonely way or late hour walk,it might have been a different story.
SA to me is overrated, not as exactly what is being painted to us,and there are no jobs here...... there's no love between the whites and blacks, even the blacks don't like other African blacks.
My candid and sincere advise to first time travellers is that, focus on other better countries or just use it to disvirgin your passport, then move to a better country. A word is enough for the wise.

Capetown is a very safe place

Na you know where you waka go

Thank God for your safety

And I repeat capetown is a very safe place

I feel much safer in Nigeria than in South Africa. Here I don’t have to deal with the racial issues and the kind of violence South Africa is known For. The kind of colonisation they went through is still affecting them till date with a very wide divide between the haves and the haves not. Somehow in Nigeria wealthy or upper middle income earners have a way of building some rapport with their immediate surrounding and still feel safe. As a Nigerian in South Africa there are too many things you may have to contend with particularly if you are all struggling to survive along with the locals

South Africa is safer than Nigeria

Unless you wan go sa go leave for cheap area wey house rent no Dey expensive

I'm not in a safety contest. I personally feel safer in the places I live/visit/work in Nigeria than in South africa. I once worked on a project on west street in sandton and lodged at a hotel on rivonia road (about 1KM away) . I did not feel safe walking down from the office to hotel at evenings. Comparing safety between Nigeria and South Africa is vague as there are different cities and localities within both countries with its own dynamics.

Lol. You are aggressive Sir (on a lighter note). We are just proposing solutions to the mate who needs one. No one is looking for trouble. It's just a proposed solution with no intent for personal gains, after all we are all here to help one another.

However, If you find mentioning your handle to suggest solutions to people annoying, then I apologize but that's very odd.

My thoughts exactly.. Where exactly did he wander to in Capetown? I have lived in kzn, gauteng, eastern cape and now in Capetown. There are safe places and there are areas of town that every one should stay away from.

There is no need for unnecessary fear mongering. I have been robbed in broad day light in lagos 2ce but I've never experienced such in SA. Capetown is literally one of the safest and civil places in SA.

Just drop the amount of rands/naira you want to buy or sell. People that have it will most likely send you a DM.

I do same when I need to buy or sell rands. BUT, be careful abeg.

But truly there are areas they call locations usually like ghetto areas. U go there and u wud surely suffer. There's a particular warning around Yanga on the N2 Expressway-"Danger Zone, Do Not Stop On The Freeway" I think that's warning enough

To add to my previous comment Sir, you've got a really stinking attitude. I observed you fought someone on this same thread just some days ago. It shows your kind of character.
