Who Can Remember One Of The Saddest Death Stories In Football History by Misternas89(m): 10:27am On May 16, 2021
I was barely 6 years old in the year 1994 when my dad and his friends were talking about a match between USA and Colombia at the 1994 World Cup tournament, Colombian defender Andres Escobar, in an attempt to block a cross from an American player, mistakenly score an own goal.

Heard them saying USA won the match 2-1 and consequently Colombia was eliminated from the tournament.

On July 1, 1994, Andres Escobar and his friends went to a bar in Medellin. But after his friends split up and Escobar was alone, he was attacked and shot six times. His murderer admitted that he had killed him in anger for scoring the own goal that caused Colombia to crash out of the competition.

Prior to that, the victim had received many threats to his life over the mistake on the field of play.
I can imagine how some people take this football or even sport generally of a thing so personal. Even as a Chelsea fan yesterday when we lost to Leicester city, my friends were all making jest of me as if I lost a billion naira.....I just dey laugh con dey sip my predator energy drink with chicken wey I buy. Who go die for Thomas Tuchel wey no sabi where my local government even dey, fight for Chelsea wey never hear Offa Local government for their life.

Football and sport lovers; let’s all tread carefully as all these are for the fun part of it, after all guys are making it big in betting by even placing a bet on their so called “favorite“ team.

The passing away of Coach Yemi Tella and Stephen Okechukwu Keshi after bringing glory to the nation....

Two bright and shinning tacticians gone... Yes, they're gone, but I will always remember them.

Would have included Samuel Okwaraji who died while playing for Nigeria, but I wasn't born then.

The pains are temporary. May 29 will erase every pain.

For the record, I rather join Girls Brigade than to join Barça.

Those Zambian players in March 1993.
I'll never forget the tears on the streets of Lusaka!
Marc Vivien Foe of Cameroon collapsing and passing on during a match 2003.
Sam Okwaraji too...it shocked me because I watched the match only for me to hear the following day Sunday that he died! I'd never heard sudden death so suddenly....RIP to them all.
