Stop bothering yourself about what you can't change.

Truth is most private firms require Waec at one sitting and don't even recognize NECO no matter how good the result it.

Just focus on graduating with a good CGPA and you will be fine whichever way as there will always be a job out there for you.
Pls sir read what you just wrote again and tell me if it makes sense

Ever since I entered the university and now in my 400L currently doing my 6 months I.T in preparation for my final year (500L) I haven't gone through my qualifications intently until this morning.

Here is a problem I discovered, I made my way to the university with a 2 sittings 2014 O'level certificates in WAEC and NECO because I made a D7 in English in WAEC which is a compulsory credit subject required for admission I had to use my NECO result where I made C5 in English to back it up for a 2 sittings result though I recall they ended up using only my NECO for the O'level certificate screening that time.

Now I am concerned if this might be a problem when I graduate and decide applying for a top job. My CGPA currently is quite impressive but right now I am afraid my O'level might not be good enough due to the D7 I made in English in WAEC.

Please I need good words of advice from the experienced ones amongst us here.
Thank you

You should not put your O'Level on your CV if you have a degree ....period and if for whatever reason you have to include your O'Level on your application form or CV then you list your credits from WEAC and NECO as one list of results, just don't include the date. CV is designed to project your best qualities and not your deficiencies

It actually matters for very competitive positions. Why not try do another WAEC again. In some organisations, it says a lot on why you ended up in your current university and forms a basis to reject you. Top Universities don't take such results . In fact, they will never take such results.
A school like UNILAG takes only one sitting with 6 credit passes and Further Maths is compulsory for Engineering, Maths & Computer Science .

Employers know these things so know when they hire a 2.1 Or First Class from UNILAG, they know such person must have a track record right from high school.

I had two O' Level sittings 7 WAEC and my Maths and Physic was with my GEC and was admitted to study Agriculture Engr at UI.

On a serious note, start investing into the digital world before you graduate, so you can even become an employer instead of carrying CVs looking for a job after graduating. Goodluck

Yeah, you right almost nothing works in Nigeria.

Travelling to distant shores to seek a new life is good.

Almost every young folks i know wants to go to Europe or North America to seek a better life, infact some don't mind Asian countries/Middle east.

I don't mind even Rwanda or South Africa, I just need a sane society where things work and there's value for life.

I had two O' Level sittings 7 WAEC and my Maths and Physic was with my GEC and was admitted to study Agriculture Engr at UI.

That result can't get you an admission into UNILAG so it's good you chose UI.

I am not sure UI will take that result for some of their top courses like Medicine & Pharmacy .

Admission is historically more competitive in UNILAG so UNILAG literally push those candidates with combined results or mediocre O'level results to other schools including UI and I think it makes sense to UNILAG considering the huge interest by most candidates to come to UNILAG .

University of Lagos is the only institution with the highest bar for undergraduates admission and it has been so for decades.

The concern expressed by the OP can never be on the list of concerns by a UNILAG student because he would have had only one sitting with minimum of 6 O'level credits . My advice to anyone yet to take WAEC is to face their studies, quit nairaland for now and get a single sitting with minimum of 6 O'level credits in the subjects required for your admission so it won't later give you serious concern.

Getting a single sitting result legitimately takes hardwork, discipline and focus. Practice all the past questions and go extra mile to know how to answer questions with great speed and accuracy. it is achievable especially if you cut away all the distraction like time wasted on Nairaland when you have exams.Quit Nairaland for now.visit www.freestuffsng.com for latest freestuffs in Nigeria.

I didn't say it does.. Jst trying to tell the Op that certificates don't count anymore in Nigeria to some extent... So it's either you're innovative or you know someone in high heavens that can fix you or luck

UNILAG doesn't have a course in Agricultural Engr, hence I never applied to UNILAG due to lack of Agriculture discipline as well as the distraction in Lagos and its proximity to my home.

UI was my first choice, with IFE and UNN listed as my second and 3rd Choice.

The OP didn't state the name of his university degree and academic discipline hence the suggestion that he must have a single sitting result isn't a listed requirement.

Getting a single sitting result legitimately requires a good school and dedicated teachers as well as hard work by the student.

BTW, I don't rate Nigeria public university systems they all have very low academic standards, lack research capability and constantly shutdown drupting the flow of academic training to their students.

Advicing someone to quit Nairaland and to visit your website doesn't seem like the best advice for someone that has an online addiction.
