ASABA – The link between South East governors and Ndigbo with the Federal Government appears to be sagging dangerously following mutual suspicion over what the Federal Government intends to achieve in Igbo land, using the military and other security operatives in the area. South East governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo, and Igbo militants – represented by all Pro-Biafra agitators – are worried over the actions of the Northern Nigeria dominated Federal Government, alleging that in the last six years the Federal Government had remained unbothered by the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the region. Across the South East, the military and other security operatives have dominated the area in search of IPOB members and other Pro-Biafra agitators, following gunmen attacks on prison, police, and military facilities in the area. In what has been described as a revenge plan by the Federal Government against the Igbo for resisting open grazing and rejection of the National Livestock Transformation Plan, the Federal Government has allegedly given security operatives order to shoot-on-sight, an order strongly opposed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. The alleged plans for a military onslaught against the Igbo in addition to perceived marginalisation against the people of the area was said to be capable of revisiting the event that played out during the Biafra-Nigeria Civil War of 1967-1970, in which over 3,000,000 people of Igbo extraction were said to have died. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, held a meeting with the service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, telling them to adopt security measures in the South- East and the South-South geopolitical zones of the country. There are indications that traditional rulers of the South East extraction have been made targets for arrest by security operatives with a view to extracting useful information from them, warning that monarchs should distance themselves from the activities of IPOB and its security outfits (ESN). South East governors, with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, since July 8, 2018, have reportedly rejected pressures by the Federal Government to provide land in their respective states for cattle ranch As if the ranch option had failed, it came up with another plan, being the National Livestock Transformation Plan, an agency proposed by the National Economic Council. According to Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, he said that NEC had approved N100 billion to support the take-off of the NLTP, insisting that the Livestock Transformation Plan would address the lingering crisis between the farmers and Fulani Herdsmen, an idea opposed by the governors, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and Pro-Biafra groups. The Ebonyi State governor, who doubles as Chairman, South-East Governors’ Forum, David Umahi, made himself clear, stating that though the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) was a voluntary programme of the Federal Government, just like the Anchor Borrowers Scheme, the “South-East would not be part of it, given the controversy and misinterpretation of the whole idea” The three strong groups of the South East governors, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Pro-Biafra groups in Igbo land seem to be closing ranks, holding same view of protecting their ancestral land from infiltrators The meeting with Ohaneze Ndigbo, MASSOB, ESN (IPOB) for a peaceful conversation has been commended by notable Igbo leaders. This may have accounted for why the South East governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Pro-Biafra groups have repeatedly called on the Federal Government to withdraw security operatives from militarising the zone, insisting that the activities of Fulani herdsmen would not be tolerated despite military presence. Speaking with the Director General of Development Dynamics, Dr Jude Ohanele, he commended the governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo for working in line with the aspirations of the people, particularly for not providing land for Ruga, land for cattle ranching, and land for National Livestock Transformation Plan. “This is what the governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Pro-Biafra groups stand for; it can be dangerous if the President pushes the people beyond this collective will. “It will not really go down well between the Federal Government and the people. It is about what the people want. “The South East has a small space and any of such projects that will be land intensive will not work, particularly when the use of such land does not meet the aspirations of the people. “The earlier the Presidency stopped pushing for land for cattle in the South East, the better for all of us.” He added: “Using the military against the people for not doing your bidding is wrong; when the military is used by political leaders, it dwindles the security status of the country. The military is expected to be there to fight insurrection, wars in favour of the country. “When the military becomes a tool in the hands of political actors, everyone will be in trouble, including those using them now, because when table turns, the victors become the victims. It is important not to involve the military on political issues. “For the first time, the governors and Ohanaeze are taking a position in line with the people of the South East and any attempt by the Federal Government to disagree with the position, then it will not go down well in the region.” https://independent.ng/spectre-of-military-crackdown-unites-se-govs-ohanaeze-ndigbo-other-pan-igbo-groups/

It won't stop anything. Buhari has given security force marching orders. You can't kill the military personnel and expect a round table discussion. Find out what obj did to Odi, Zaki Biam. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Lol. Osama Buhari underestimated the resolve of the typical Igbo man. If he does not de-escalate this wahala, even the Igbos in the national assembly will abandon Abuja for him then and enter the trenches for another round of fight. And if not for illiteracy, he should know that this time around no southerner or northern Christian will join hausa/Fulani to fight Igbos again. All the south east governors have now adopted reconcilatory tones b/c they know the situation is at a tipping point. Dave Umahi sometimes sleeps in the army barracks cos of fear.Ikpeazu has started singing the marginalisation song. Even the supreme court administrator is talking like a reverend father now 1 Like 1 Share |

The governors are very st*pid. The fulani mozlem terrorist government will show them pepper since they don't want to get sense. Let them keep fooling themselves. As for the jihadist Fulani terrorist army, they better listen to MNK live broadcast of 16th May. That will give the insight of where their current jihadist movement in the east will take them to. |

The only reason why the South East governors are now scrambling for a common front with others against the federal government's onslaught is because they have started to suspect the end game in the south east. As the elections draw closer, it's becoming obvious that this administration won't flinch to declare a state of emergency in certain sections of the country based on supposed "violent activities" from the same fake groups created by elements within the government. With the south rigidly asking for power shift and Buhari vehemently opposed to such, he will need to flagrantly rig the system to win the next presidential elections..The governors immediate positions are now under threat and they have become restless. It all started during the prison invasion in Owerri. Hope Uzodinmma has never trusted the police version of the story and has been arming his vigilante force since then.. He seldoms travels around again and Umeahi has smelt the coffee.. They all know that they have been used and dumped. |
