@ johnchrix

I was @ prime water gardens, off freedom way on the 1st sallah day in the evening , was trying to get a destination trip to ikeja.

A lady came out with her sister out
of one of the high-rise buildings

Lady: are you waiting for someone ?
Me: Not @all.
Lady: Take us to that supermarket on Ikate road.
Me:No p.
Lady : you will bring us back.

Trip ended, everyone alighted safely.

The point is, the lady never checked whether I was truly on Uber, she just assumed I should be genuine since that's how cars normally position.

Now if she were to fall into the wrong hands, when sharing her experience, she will say an Uber driver robbed me of my items, whereas, it wasn't the case. It was purely offline n not on the operator's watch.

A lot of ladies flag down corrolla n jump in wtout a care in the world. Those r d ones that get robbed.

But you order a ride n you were robbed on the operators platform where hundreds of millions is expended annually on marketing ( one of their strongest USP is safety, one judas driver won't be allowed to compromise that) .

I strongly doubt it can happen.

Bros I've made a post in daily operation with a korope b4 here those guys plying the ikeja LGA make more than that daily and within the hours of 5am-4pm... You probably are the president to lazy korope drivers association of Nigeria that's y you aren't making much.

Understand the times and seasons then you'd known its more profitable driving a korope than a Corolla. Though your experience about mad passengers is 100% but its more toxic in ehailing due to the rider's/driver's partnership and the bossy rule that states, rider's should take the back seat. This makes most of these riders t9 have s9me sense of entitlement and belonging therefore sees every drivers as their employee.
What do you mean they make more than 10k between 5am to 4pm? Abeg no just talk this on outside, on a good day an Uber driver guy can make that within 2 to 3 hours.
The only challenge an Uber/bolt driver have is traffic and commission, because in most cases korope drivers will find alternatives they can even do one way or avoid a specific routes ridden with traffics kpa kpa.

But as a bolt driver if u don enter u don enter, for instance I was coming back from travel yesterday.
Normally I will take the ijebu ode / Ajah route to my house though it's longer and their is traffic along the mainland route but because I parked my car somewhere around the estate before the long bridge I had to accept a request on inDriver ( from omole estate to Ajah under bridge for 4,800.
Initially it was 4,200 but I was surprised when the rider accepted because it was clear other drivers were making thier offers, at the end because of the traffic I almost shed tears but I had to man up since I needed a trip that will cover my expenses.

My point is on a good day u can't compare korokpe earnings with an ehailing driver's earnings.

I met a lady who claimed her uber driver robbed her and pushed her out of the car. I met her on the day the incident happened with a bruised head, no phones, no cash and traumatised. I dropped her in her house and her family members all came out to thank me. Even helped her in securing her NIN for sim replacement at the time, so its real. For years now, I drive only at nights and I like it but I repeat, this feat is not for rookies. The idea of posting earnings as been treated on this thread overtime. I'm not against drivers posting earnings but you'll be an hypocrite not to also put the hours you spent on the road to achieve the feat, cost of fuel, recharge cards, bolt/uber commissions and then lets know what remains of the earnings.

She claimed and you believed her cos of bruises and NIN registration. Accepted
But did you help her to report to Uber ?
With all our details with Uber, how can u think of robbing ur rider
Unless dey agreed on offline or how can it happen and she won’t be able to report.

Pls conclude d story by telling us if she reported to Uber /bolt .

he picked her online once. She saved his number cos uber app shuts down 12am. She needed a trip past 12am and called for an offline trip and then the above happened according to her. Truth is, we have some fraudulent and dangerous persons posing as uber drivers same as some riders. It goes both ways.

Thank you, but she can still report to police and tell them to verify from Uber or link it somehow She shouldn’t let it go like that.

There's no such thing as offline Uber driver and inbtw, b4 saving a driver number, tells both of u had a good flow and somewhat sense he or she can't u. Not absolute tho, but at least to some extent.

Should I say I'm seeking for advice with what I'm about to write or validation, cos deep within it seem like I've already made up my mind.

Got a request this evening from unilag gate around 7pm to first gate on Lateef J. The trip is not really favourable for me at 2400, due to traffic, but since its my last trip and as good as destination, plus what Ghost1994 said about 8pm, I decide to go on the trip. On getting to pick up, with d mindset of liaising with rider to be considerate, saw two guys hopped into the car with her, I just respect myself and face my 1 hr 10 mins. Somehow trip didnt end till 2hr after pick up, with traffic from Onipan to MBA. Deep within I wish this folks will b human enough to add something to the fare, and on d other hand I didn't bother cos that's what I signed up for. They didn't add anything, tho I felt, but can't complain , my gas level broke my heart after d trip. Got home and saw 2 bottles of groundnuts... normal me would have called or find a way to take it back to them tomorrow, but as it stands now! I'm not just in that mood to waste 1 km on those folks, unless they are willing to pay for return trip.

Some Bluntly hint for Uber/Bolt Driver.
I'll be so blunt with my write ups so its not necessarily you like my comments.

1. Try as much as possible to leave house by 6.30am
2. Anywhere you're in Lagos, try and head home around 8PM at night (Nowhere is safe anymore in naija use your sense)
3. Make sure you have positive mind every day you hold your steering or you're on wheel (whenever you see on group or heard from anywhere that traffic plenty blabla bla, try and have a positive vibe that you'll make your own money out of it).
4. Always try and listen to your right instinct he never lies. (The one that will tell you Sola dont go on that trip follow it at first the left instinct will want to convince you and you'll later regret it)
5. Never try on any week days take trip early in the morning to below areas.
A. Ikorodu
B. Alakija/Apapa
C. Festac town/Ojo
D. All alimosho
E. After Sangotedo
F. Mowe
G. Add your own (Reasons, you'll likely to regret it either by traffic or not getting trip or you didn't meet your target for the day due to traffic)
6. Try as much as possible to buy food for house/home that's very necessary.
7. Never ever interact any conversation with your riders unless if they start it first and beware of whatever you're gonna say to them because majority of us all now don mad due to naija stress.
8. Buy some protective gadget e.g. pepper pray
9. Always have patience all the time especially when you carry young blood (Olosho and G boys) they dont have respect at all.

I'm coming back to complete it want to take a trip...
Remember Ghost1994

This your number 7 though, I seriously disagree. I interact a lot with my riders and I don't see anything wrong with it.

The only time I don't discuss with them is when they sit at the back. Once you sit at the back, we have nothing to discuss. We will keep it the way you want it, strictly official grin

Nice posers all the same, good work.

When I bought my corolla 2010, I noticed that sometimes when I crank the engine, it will make this high pitch sound like metal touching metal. I was very alarmed and googled it and found that it happens. I had consoled myself to use the car till the day the engine starts getting issues. I didn't want to fix it since that route is very expensive having read a thread in nairaland. My first oil change, I used Mobil 1 full synthetic, the issue continued, second oil change I used Mobil semi synthetic, same issue, I now used Castrol 5w30 bought from ENYO and that issue never happened again. So I'm stuck with Castrol. I believe in what works, the simpler the better, and if still cheaper.... the best.

Depending on the spec of your corolla .. Yours might be an isolated incident ..

I just bought a 2010 Corolla Sport .. It has 155k miles and the car runs beautiful and no noise at all .. The car is just a beauty .. The motor vehicle inspection sticker is still on it till October 2021 .. Meaning the car is still road worthy.......

That been said , instead of putting a bandaid on the problem .. It is better for u to really find the reason for the ticking sound of the motor. It seems the oil you using is covering over the noise .. There is a problem somewhere ......

That is why I said it’s better to stick to accessible and reliable oil from registered partners/dealers that will always have oil.
Since someone said here that Mobil semi synthetic is testing one -two 2 by Mobil. I don run before my engine go begin cough.
Go back to what you were using before.

I won't b d first to talk to a rider, no matter what, if he or she ain't chatting me up, then I let them b and the reason is because some riders r honestly not willing to talk at that point in time. While some feel u may take advantage of that convo, so I try to respect myself.

When I wasn't driving on bolt during that lockdown period, I was home one day with my son(he was around 1 at the time) and needed to pick an item that was way billed to me at the park so I used bolt and took him along with me.

The driver was so impersonal and for some reasons, I didn't like it. He just maintained a straight face all through the journey like we were fighting grin. Now that I drive, I understand why he would have done that.

So to prevent that kind of situation, what I do is to comment on something casually like I'm talking to myself. Say I see a rough danfo driver, I may just say "No side mirror, that was nearly an accident"

If the rider does not respond, I mind my business and face my steering. Those who are interested in talking will respond to me and we'll start gusting.

Radautoworks sells the conventional oil. You just have to do a change after 3000 miles. If you can't afford full synthetic, it's a good alternative. I'm pretty sure your car manufacturer recommends conventional oil anyway

Who told you she doesn't run out of stock? Though I know the sub is meant for Dru. grin

Personally though, I don't have the time to start changing oil every month so I use full synthetic and run it for 7000 miles minimum.
