Nigeria 2023 Presidency Should Come from South/South By eeetuk Ibos have announced plan to contest 2023 presidential election in Nigeria. Similar plan has been made by Yoruba and Hausas, but none has come from Ibibio, Ijaw and Edo people, and I want to know why indigens of South/South geopolitical zone have no plan to jump into 2023 presidential race. Nigeria composed of over 400 tribes—none which is majority. Yoruba wants other Nigerians to think they are majority. Ibo and Hausa portray themselves as majority tribes as well, but unfortunately, Ibibio, Ijaw and Edo get stigmatized on the basis that they are minority---a label that makes people to think they have limit to what they can become. That raised this question: Are the people of South/South geopolitical zone satisfied with being labeled as minority? No, I don’t think so, butYoruba, Hausas, and Ibo game plans are to put fear into what other tribes in Nigeria can do. They want to stigmatized Ibibio, Ijaw and Edo into believing that their population is too small to carry them across the victory line. I write to argue that Ibibio, Ijaw, and Edo people in Nigeria can win 2023 presidential election So, in the coming months, I am going to be waiting to see if Ibibio or Ijaw or Edo indigens will announce their interest in 2023 presidential bid for many reasons. First, South/South geopolitical zone provides Nigeria with estimated 90% of money Nigeria spends each year. The Yoruba, Ibos and the Fulani who control all top political structures in Nigeria contribute nothing to Nigerian treasury, yet, controlled everything in Nigeria. That is outrageous! Second, the control of Nigerian government by Ibos, Yoruba, and Fulani has not advanced Nigeria economically, politically, militarily and socially. According to United Nations report, Poverty rate in Nigeria among all age groups sits at 60.9%. Nigeria unemployment rate rises to 33% --that is a jump from 27.1% in 2020, second highest in global list (Bloomberg News, 2021). 70 million Nigerians who were employed to work in Nigeria for the year 2020, worked for less than 20hrs a week (Bloomberg economic Report, 2020). Third, on security front, Nigeria is a mess. Armed violence posed by Islamic militant group, Boko Haram has led to loss of million of lives, and drove nearly 15 million Nigerians out of their homes, according to Nigeria tracker report. Mark Duerksen is a writer for Africa Center for strategic studies. In his recent article titled “Nigeria Diverse Security Threats” his report said “The Nigerian military’s withdrawal to “super camps” in 2019 has given Boko Haram and ISWA freer range to move through the region’s hinterlands. And more recently, kidnapping of Nigerians for ransom has become the second most important threat against Nigerians after Boko Haram. In 2021, 317 school girls were kidnapped in Zamfara state. In Katsina state, 300 school boys were abducted by armed men in December 2020. And in 2014, 276 school girls were abducted by Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram (Ismail Alfa & Mikes Ives, New York times, 2021). This report shows poor leadership provided by Fulani, Yoruba and Ibo run government of Nigeria. It also called for a change of direction on which tribe should produce Nigeria next leader. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/02/world/africa/nigeria-kidnapped-students.html?smid=url-share Why should people who have robbed Nigeria of opportunities to develop keep doing same thing every year?

NorthernAgender: Stop this your taquiya, impersonating northerners wouldn't change a thing cos the mission assigned to you and your likes is to create unnecessary tension.. It's part of the agenda of those who want Nigeria to experience another unplanned/unnecessary war... If you people are not residing in Nigeria, remember you have friends and family that would be affected should the war you lots are clamouring for under impersonating Northerners. Heaven dey fall no be for one man's headache........... We are all reading/watching Israel and Palestine show of shame. The so called religious country are still the one going in war in 21st century? What's the basic of their religion? War or peace? In war, it is not about who is wrong or right, it's about who/what's left |

StaffofOrayan: The only way to stop taking loans is to elect credible people in the 2023 election most especially the representative part ( Senate, Reps, State assemblies) those are the places genuine review of Nigeria constitution federal or state. Except if you are wishing for things to continue this way, even if you don't like this current government, 2023 is another opportunity to put those who can represent you sincerely into the position... Forget about election don't count in Nigeria, you can't rig where you are not popular.. Nigeria is not breaking and there won't be any war... Every evil wish against Nigeria, Oluwa thunder, destroy them all |
